Tried to find info on bumping the power on an LGU .22 but was not successful. My LGU is currently shooting 14.3 gr. pellets at an average of 568 fps. I know the LGU is mostly used for target competition but I use my rifles for hunting and would like to have a little more power to insure a clean kill. I would like to shoot 18.1 gr. pellets at least in the 600 fps. range and have 14.3 gr. shoot in the upper 600s to 700. Is it possible to get an LGU Varmint, HW97, or other spring or will I also need a new piston seal to pick up the fps? I'd appreciate a recommendation on what might work and where I can purchase the correct quality parts.
HW tuning kits will not drop in the Walther LGU/LGV rifles, the spring guides are completely different, also the OD and ID of the spring are smaller for the HW rifles, HW springs are a 20mm DIA spring, the piston ID of the Walther's is a 21mm IIRC? this is why I used a Diana spring in my LGU, if u use a spring made for the R9/HW95 or the 97k that has a 26mm piston in ur LGU u will need to sleeve the inside of ur LGU piston to keep the spring from being to lose inside the LGU piston, if u use a spring for an HW u will need to make a spring guide as well, the OEM Diana springs I have tried in my LGU did not require any thing they were a drop in spring, I hope this helps
