Last month i purchased a RWS 350 Magnum in .22 and no scope. This week I ordered and received from Midway USA a UTG 3-12x44 SWAT compact scope and a RWS Lock-Down 1 pc. mount. Both in 30mm. I soon found out that the one piece mount would not fit the scope. The spacing between the rings was too wide, 4 1/4" and would hit the optic end and the bell end. So, I would now use the UTG rings that came with the scope. Nope...they are for a Picatinny rail and not the 3/8" rail. I couldn't find on line any one piece mounts that were 3" CTR-CTR that I needed on the rings. So, my wife suggested I cut the center out. I took a chance and cut 1 1/4" out of the center of the Lock-Down mount. I lost 2 locking screws by doing so but I pulled the 2 pieces up together and locked them down using blue loctite on the screws. It seems to be working fine so far. At 10 yds. it holds a 1/2 - 5/8" group. Sometimes you do what you gotta do to make things work and I guess time will tell. Comments, thoughts?
