Interesting review and nicely done with the LiPo. Look forward to hearing more about this. So you really don't notice any lag at all, or difference from a mechanical gun, when you pull the trigger? No lag at all? That's useful to know. Is this GTK your first and only PCP?I'm sure that you asked for permission first from the establishment and were really careful though, before pulling that GTK 290 out in the hobby shop. The state of VA is not the most laid back of places, and it's also a concealed carry state. I wouldn't want any misunderstanding to impact your enjoyment.Look forward to more of your posts.
Bad news, my Evanix GTK290 is out of commission. I was shooting yesterday and had the the premium (12 shot) magazine loaded in the gun when on my third shot, the gun just stopped with a short winding noise. I tried to fire again and it didn't respond. I first checked the battery connections which were fine. Then I check the battery charge but it was at 94%. With the battery removed, I then turned to the magazine. When I tried to slide it out, it was stuck. It was then that I noticed the magazine was off center by about 2-3mm toward the left side of the gun. I was unable to remove the magazine since the gun froze with the bolt extended into the magazine, effectively pinning it in place. I tried get the bolt to retract following the instructions in the Evanix Speed manual to no avail. I then found the a video on YouTube showing a guy taking apart at GTK290. I was able to remove a few screws and break open the upper barrel slightly which retracted the bolt immediately. I it all back together and was then able to remove the magazine. However, when I did a little rubber o-ring came out with the magazine. Hmm weird. Where did that come from?? I replaced the premium magazine with a standard 10 shot magazine and tried taking a shot which turned out to be a blank shot. After removing the magazine and checking to make sure the pellets were seated, which they were, I reloaded and this time it did a quick "double tap" with just one squeeze of the trigger. Hmmm okay. The next shot was blank as was the next. I removed the magazine and spun it to the next pellet, put the mag in and it shot the pellet like it shout. The next shot was a blank. I repeated using yet another magazine and the misfires, double taps, and blank shots continued. I decided to throw in the towel at this point.I called PA and they said I could either return it or exchange it. I decided to exchange it since I really did enjoy this gun (when it worked at least). I have read many of the posts related to misfires, magazine troubles, and jams and am aware it's happened to other Evanix owners in the past. I really hope this is just a fluke and that the new gun doesn't present the same problems. I'm also going to leave use the standard battery until it dies. Then I'll replace it with the Lipo. As for now, I'll be out one Evanix GTK290 for a week or so. I'll post an update if PA figures out what caused the problem. I will certainly let you know if this happens to the replacement gun.S
Ive been really happy with my Evanix Guns and CANT WAIT to see how the new line of blowback air fed cycling line comes along.
