Gamo 1250 Hunter question or two
«

Or three. Came across an early Made in England gun, .177, metal brake with the pin front sight. Trying to find a bit of info. (Been a while since these were hot topics.) Does anyone know which BSA they were based on? About when and for how long were they made? And are seal/springs available? Yes, I know these are a tad over-sprung but A) the price is right and B) what the hay.
Thanks in advance, Red

I wasnt sure that the 1250 Hurricane was based off a BSA gun. Thought they were out to compete with the Patriot/Kodiak.
I have a 25 Kodiak and a .22 Patriot so picked up a used 1250 like yours, English made in .177 to round out the collection of beastly springers (this before the .30 Hatsan came out).
I half heartedly looked for springs/kits and came up empty. I know that JM used to make a kit for them back when they were a bit more popular, but havent seen such kit in a while....then again, I havent looked in a while, either.
No clue how long they were made, but like you the price was right so I picked it up. Mounted a small scope on it and it's reasonably accurate. Typical firing behaivor/trigger for a Gamo of that era. I bring it out for S&G now and then but that's it.

Thanks. Bought it yesterday. Just tried a 10.5 Crosman domed to see if it worked. Oh, it does. Muzzle pressed against a thick, fully compressed yellow pages, it went through about six hundred. Nice shape, too. Seller had it in a trade but it looks like the previous owner took care of it. Still had clear grease in the pivot area. I'm glad I bought it. The seller offered me a partial tin of Destroyers. I'm sure that continued use with those would have made them live up to their name. I do recall that BSA developed these shortly before the takeover. it is nothing like a Gamo, except the trigger.

I recall seeing the schematic on gunspares/Chambers. I think they had most of the stuff for it, too.

Chambers has piston seals and replacement springs Maccari does as well but require some mods to except the piston seal and spring. I've done tunes on the 1250 versions and Gamo Extreme versions from .177' .22 and the .25. My .22 1250 is the early model from England and fit and finish is better then the Extreme models tuned and inspected both. Mine been a go to magnum shooter for many years now and still putting the hurting on the critters. Ed

Like Shadow I also have one of the older .22 1250's made in England and the fit and finish is extremely impressive, as is it's power and accuracy. Mine loves several pellets but it seems to like to Predator pellets the best. Awesome magnum hunting rifle. Right after I bought it I secured a spare spring and seals but haven't had to replace either as of yet.
