I just have to talk about this.
I spent about three weeks shooting my HW77 exclusively. Got the trigger nicely adjusted and shot group after group at 25 yards on the small bore range. The familiarity with the gun improved the groups from pretty good to very good.
The HW77 is standard, the only modification was the replacement of a broken spring about a year ago. Weight with scope 4.8 kgs
The next part was the same period of shooting my Gamo CFR. The CFR part doesn't mean a thing because all the CF Gamos are the same apart from the rubbishy add on bits. This CFR is much altered and is sitting in a wooden Challenger stock. Weight with scope 4.3 kgs. These alterations are recorded in a different thread.
I had been using the Gamo with a steel spring but shooting it gave me concerns about spring vibration and torque so I changed it back to gas ram. After a period of refamiliarisation and adjusting the GRT4 trigger I shot the test card. It just happens that both rifles prefer .177 H&N Ftt pellets.
The Gamo outshot the HW77 by a very noticeable margin. That should not be and it surprised me. It showed me what I suspected a Gamo could be.

Is that the under lever Gamo? Always wanted to try one.

Yes Gamo underlever. Whatever they call them, the important parts, that is the steel bits are all the same.
Only thing to look out for is the hammerforged barrel on the Challenger. The ones we got here in NZ are so bad; do not buy.
