My Gauntlet likes JSB 8.44 and 10.34 grain pellets from the 500 count tin.On a good day it will put 10 shots into 1 ragged hole at 28 yards.
x2 on the JSB 8.4 and 10.3gr, not so much because of the Gauntlet specifically but because they are often the best pellet in any rifle. And I agree with trying some H&N...the recent batches of Field Target Trophy (4.52 and 4.51mm) have been grouping excellently in several rifles.
Has any one tried JSB 13.4 gr .177 pellets? I have had great results with them in magnum springers and hot shooting PCPs. 60 yard kills on starlings etc. quite the thump when they hit flesh at longer ranges.
Here are a few groups from my 0.177 Gauntlet at 30 yards with a Leaper 3-12x44 scope. I think the groups could be tighter with a 20x with a etched glass reticle. The thickness of the reticle on the Leapers at 12 power is about twice as wide a the aim point inducing some error.
Now that you mention it, I tried the Hunter Extremes in .177 recently and was pleasantly surprised. I’ll put it like this, the gray squirrels and chipmunks don’t like them nearly as much as the QB79. At 16fpe, they still pass through a squirrel’s head at 30 yards but the concussive effect is noticeably more intense than the domes I normally use. Just never had found a trick pellet that was accurate enough until this one.

Might try the monstersYes it is a pretty good group but it is tough to beat the Air Arms/JSB 10.3gr in my Gauntlet. The fist group was getting use to the trigger after shooting my FX Gladiator. The last group is is really good at 30 yards. It also shoots the JSB monster 13.47gr and Hatsan Vortex Supremes 8.64gr almost as well.
