Just getting back to my airguns and revisiting my Evanix bullpup in .177. I purchased it from a frustrated owner that was unable to get satisfactory accuracy due to most pellets going super-sonic. I installed a Lancet MK VI regulator, set by Mr. Lane at 150 bar and luckily H&N started producing the 21gr. Piledriver. This combo, as installed, is solid in the 780fps range and very accurate, but I felt it should run more velocity. It sat for the past few years while I was distracted with other interests and I'm revisiting it now. Yesterday, I grabbed the rifle and my chronograph and hid in the backyard for some testing. With the hammer spring adjuster accessible, I started winding it tighter expecting velocity changes.
That didn't happen...
I removed the hammer spring and added a secondary to increase tension, installed it and still no appreciable velocity difference.
? I saw it vary a grand total of about 15fps and peaked about 794fps. If I fired several shots at a given setting, it was scary consistent within 1-2fps. Does anyone have a clue why it seems to be flat-lined regardless of spring tension? Do I need to make a heavier/lighter hammer, install a super whammy spring, make alterations to the valving. or what?
I would appreciate any input, shy of sending the gun to a guru like Mr. Piatt, I would like to know if there are some options that I could dabble with. My goal would be to get this rifle to run the Piledriver in the low 900's as long as accuracy still holds. I have been searching the forums, videos and the interwebs, but there seems to be very little to improve power, most deal with power reduction and/or improving shot count. Performing the work myself shouldn't pose much of an issue and I have the machine equipment to manufacture what I need. I will look forward to what the forum has to offer.
Thanks

Interesting thought! So possibly machining a longer chamber to increase volume after the reg. My gauge reads from the regulated portion of the tank and I'm sitting at 150 bar, so I don't see any realistic gains to go higher. Volume may well be the answer.
Thanks
