Are Gamo's still made in Spain?I thought the name was the same but all production was moved to China.I have shot a older Big Cat... Neighbor gave it to me to try. Could not hit squat with it.Sure am glad that wasn't the first Springer I had ever shot...The TWANG and BUZZ were so bad it would have turned me away from a spring powered gun forever!
I still have my Remington Airmaster. Bought it about 9-10 years ago. Still going strong.
Yes, what did happen to Gamo? I suspect accountants overtook gun makers. Nevertheless Gamo make some guns that are pretty good and can be very good with DIY attention. Tinkering is the wrong word because it must be reasoned modification. Let us not overlook that even at our much greater prices than the USA, I can afford one. The same goes for Americans, just a matter of scale. A Weihrauch or a Diana is without doubt better and more expensive. Time and personal attention can make a Gamo just as good, or nearly so.I have two Gamos, both underlevers and I expect excellent accuracy. Today at the range I got just that. Never do I forget that the mediocre shooter is the week point. I am sure that I would not have got that with my first BSA Meteor of about 1960. It was good at the time but I didn't for a second think of pellet on pellet accuracy.Gamo make such a range of rifles to suit every budget and they are accurate. Buy a cheap rifle to shoot tin cans off the fence and it it does that then it is accurate. Buy it to shoot the .2mm bull on a 10 metre target and it is inaccurate. Just a matter of expectations. The plastic covered barrels and breach blocks -- maybe in time to come that will be better than steel but not yet.PS. I have not read all of the preceding posts to see if this is a logical response but too late now.
GwynBob and Gene the cofounders of this forum made an improved trigger for the Gamo. http://www.charliedatuna.comIt is the first thing to do when one wants to improve the Gamo. I haven't heard of it fits the PCP 's
