I would like some recommendations for a set of dependable shooting sticks, what do you use?

Gold standard are the "GEN 1 Primus Trigger Sticks in Short length"
These are no longer made ... but Dicks Sporting goods had a bunch earlier in the year ( Mail Order Only )

I couldn't find the short ones when I needed them. With care the long ones can be taken apart and cut down. I cut 10 inches off, and they work great.

I've thought of buying a single telescopic hiking pole to use. I like multi purpose stuff, and in a pinch it could be used to prop up a tarp shelter too.

A single stick might not work so well with long heavy rifles though.

Gander Mtn still has these short Gen1 bipods for $49. However, they need to be extended up for elevated targets. I am trying some 1" PVC pipe/conduit to see if I can lengthen the lower section. Seems to fit on, once you remove the rubber feet.

I have been actively searching for the Primos Gen1 Trigger sticks, but I am coming up kinda short. Are the Gen2's okay to work with?

Not really ... the legs DO NOT HAVE spread stops therefor the handle / yoke always had side to side rock ... on gen 1's the legs when spread hit stops and that in turn locks up the handle from further side to side motion.

Build your own. Simple, cheap, self satisfaction and can be made to your height. I have two sets: one for table top shooting and another for sitting in my shooting chair. PM me if you need pics, etc.
I did a post on the Yellow a year or so ago. Might be able to search that. Pictures, lengths, etc.

For functionality and lower price, I opted for the BOGgear Sportsmans Bipod. I'm just returning to field target, and this will be my first time into Hunter, so I am needing to budget my gear selections... functionality over style this go around.

I just purchased the Primos Gen2 Bipod 24"- 61" and I will add a strap to the bottom to limit the width. I just love the way the trigger sticks adjust to the terrain quickly. I already have the tripod but can't use them in the HFT comps.

I found by the time I got my bucket cut to the right height. so my elbows were on my knees the sticks were to long. Especially if it's a down angle shot. This is why I cut them down.

OK the Gen2 bipod was way to tall for my seat and the short monopod was a tad short for comfort. It cost me 15 cents to fix the Primos short monopod, literally I placed 3 nickles in the rubber foot to add 3/4" in height.

The BogPod fell through sometime back, but I have a set of GenII Primos Trigger Sticks due to arrive tomorrow... I used a gift card to purchase the sticks, so essentially they cost me nothing to give it a go. Here to hoping for the best.

I have a pair of Trigger Sticks and I still have not used them as I made a set of shooting sticks that have really served me well:

Some other shooters who have tried mine really like them and I made this set with what I had lying around my work shed. The white foam I used is door and window jam sealant.

I had to have something for my first shoot and I just never switched over to my Trigger Sticks LOL!

Looks nice and stable, I like them. I looked at some buying some replacement broom handles, maybe even shovel handles to do a similar design... never got back to the idea though.

When I started in FT I made this set:

I still have them in the truck for shooters who don't have any.
Then I bought a set of PRIMOS Gen 1 with my Cabela's points.
The legs, the legs.
Then I ordered a of Gen 2 shorties (actually 2 sets cause I gave a junior shooter a set) from Dick's Sporting Goods.
Motorhead told me how to modify them and I did.
I keep the Gen 1 and the home made set in the truck for others, if needed.
The Gen 1 is for sale, though.

Received my Gen2 Primos this past Saturday... they work great in the house... weather was a little unfriendly, so I was not able to get the stick in on any shooting time. Hopefully this coming weekend I can get them out and see if I like them any better.

I had a telescoping single stick made for shooting with a yoke to lay the forearm in. It's not stable enough for me.

I made a set of these several years ago. They work well even as a walking staff to get to a hunting spot.
