Regarding the hogs....
(1/1)
a1Bogey:
If any of ya'll are lucky enough to bag one oneday , remember this , they carry diseases. And parasites. When butchering one , use rubber gloves , no exception. And you must throughly cook any meat from the animals.
And if you have perhaps taken a deer the same hunt, do not let the 2 contaminate each other.

Scooter B:
You are so right. To add to that, if you want to harvest a hog for meat, take the smallest (youngest) one out there. You won't like eating a 100+ pounder, not to mention the stink to no end!
cactusrat:
Scooter is right. Smaller is better. :o
Well, at least when it come to hog harvest for table meat.
RedFeather:
And go for the sows. Sometimes you get a piece of really strong bacon. My mom used to call that "boar hoggy". I think the males get testosterone or something like in the meat.
You've got to be careful dressing almost any game today, especially here where we have endemic Lyme disease.
Rico14:
I think I'll be looking for my pork at Costco. ;D ;D ;D
