Maybe is just me...

I do this because it is my hobby, and joined here because i see a true sense of belonging to a group that use, repair, modify, and appreciate airguns for the fun, little technological and aesthetical as well as historic marvels they are... I am sure i am not the only one that sat waiting for the p rod to go on sale to be one of the first ones to enjoy what is a culmination of PCP evolution and a milestone in crosman's history (kinda being there when they released the 160, or when Beeman presented the R1...). As many (the largest majority...) my keystroke was not fast enough, so i'll have to wait until it becomes readily available... (just as when they released the Marauder). But the fact that someone is posting a Prod for sale at almost twice what their value is (and yes, it is almost twice the value) and bought it as a speculative mean to make money (hey, if you do not want it and you are selling it, pass it along to someone who will appreciate it, for what is worth.) just shows that nothing is free from the insidiuos hands of greed.
And the fact that post are moderated (no one moderated post when someone posted about painting a FWB300S, and the poster understood that the mildly contradicting post were not a personal attack but a "enthusiast wake up call") as to not offend the poster (multiple post about the same can't be a disgruntled member, dont you think?) but as a way of saying, "hey dude, owning what you got is a priviledge you deserved just as anyone else... you just are a bit luckier" is a slap in the face of the true enthusiast.
No, i am not " holier than thou"... and yes, I got the cash to give for the Mrod pistol... But I'll be darn if i will bend over and take it and fork out that kind of money asked for something that obviously the seller cares nothing for... As per being moderated as it was, I have being a contributing member on this forum and have developed a great affinity with it's members which i see as family. If saying this means that i'll be banned, so be it. But at least I wont feel as what i said was wrong, because PC aside, 99.9% of you are thinking it.
I have seen you guys offer things for free in the name of expanding the appreciation of the sport; i myself have bought, used, reviewed and enjoyed lots of rifles, which i have sold for a nomimal fee if any to people who would appreciate them and give them a good home... maybe i am wrong, maybe it's just me. If i am to be banned please be polite enough to email me and let me know...
Gabe.

Gabe, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Believe me, that post has caught the eye of a LOT of us. It seems the low serial number holds a greater value to some. As with this post, and any others, the seller has the right to post and has not violated any rules of the forum (yet). He is free to post anything airgun related for sale and set his price. We are also free to turn away and say good luck to the seller. It's like any limited production. SOME of the low serial numbers are gonna be scarfed up by scalpers looking to make a buck and has nothing to do with the true enthusiasts of the hobby. I hope everyone has enough self control to back away and to see it for what it is. BUT, someone with money to burn MAY pick it up and put it in a display cabinet. Not me!!!!
Happy Shooting!!!!

I still think that it has nothing to do with the serial number... Hey, i know where marauder #11 is... the owner has it in his gun case, but prefers his HW100T... he might sell it... I asked him if he was to sell it, how much would he ask for. "whats's a new one going for?" was his reply... I see paying maybe new prices for a used gun, because it is "special" (i guess the first 100 are those PCPs that never run out of air, are shooting 40 FPE and 1200 FPS with kodiacks in a single hole at 500 yards... My Mrod is just a s*$ttier gun, i guess...). And he added that if it was someone from the AG community he would pass it along at even lower than that, or even trade it.
You know what i saw about 3 weeks ago? a R1 tyrolean... at the range, blasting targets as it was intended to do. People forget that this guns, before collectible, were guns, meant to be shot. I just sold my immaculate FWB300s for 400 bucks... i am no 10 meter shooter. it was pretty, freshly resealed and tuned, but not my cup of tea... I have seen them go for upwards of 550 dollars... but the guy that got it could not swing that kind of cash, so i got 200 bucks then and 200 hopefully in February... But he is got the rifle. He organizes silhouette shoots for the local VFW post... His eyes lit up when he heard what i would give HIM the rifle for...
Thanks for sympathizing... But it really got my blood boiling... and thank you for letting me vent.

That post caught my eye as well...I actually laughed out loud at the price but he has the right to ask whatever he wants for it. It's not unlike my ex co-worker who had a son that worked in Toys R Us the first year the Wii came out. He got his son to buy them and then he sold them on ebay for a healthy profit? Ethical? No. Illegal? Not in the slightest.

I saw that #2 was on our forum an Dang near choked at the price. I had a short chat with the guy with #1 an I "guess" they were smarter than I am as they went in acted like they were going to buy somthing then just emptied their cart an waited on the count down clock. Pretty slick on their part I have too admit. Myself I felt good about getting #51 an I am very happy our own Daveshoot beat me an got #44. Would I sell "mine" for a health profit, Hmmmm, LET THE BIDDING START!!!! Naw, just kidding I really love my new pistol and how accurate it is(still hate the plastic grip's). But if the guy can get $800 out of his more power to him, someone would really really have to want one BAD to pay that kind of money......P.S. They are going to release the next 25 of the first 100 sometime soon Gabe so remember the cart trick an grab one up.
