Would my Marauder with a synthetic stock benefit from a heavier wood stock?

A friend of mine gave me a Marauder .177 cal with a synthetic stock (2nd gen). I use this rifle mostly for shooting Hunter Field Target matches. The rifle shoots pretty accurately, but I am finding that the synthetic stock is so light, that it makes it difficult to get the gun to stay still in the bipod. I know that the wood stock version of the Marauder weighs about a pound more than the synthetic stock version. I assume the extra weight is in the stock.
I also shoot a TX200 in the same bipod, and I find that it stays still better in the bipod compared to the Marauder. So I am thinking that if I get the wood stock at PA for $130, I might lower the center of gravity of the rifle in the bipod.
Does this make sense?

Is the stock hollow? You might try filling it with some weight. I used bags of lead shot in the storage areas of my M1 and AR for CMP matches.

Lead shot mixed with duct seal. Pack it into any hollow areas where you want more mass.

IMO, the weight will help some, but when it comes to the off hand lane I would like a little lighter gun. I don't like the way mechanical noise is transmitted thru a plastic stock. They seem to be louder. Then again i'm an old prima donna who thinks nice wood belongs on a gun.

A use for pellet-filled duct seal from pellet traps??
