Title: RWS 48/52 for hunter field target question
Post by: hdrk1111 on October 04, 2016, 11:55:45 PM
Have 91 RWS Diana 48/52. I Am planning to install a tune kit, or have someone else do it. Question is ,if this rifle is for field target hunter class. Should it be left at factory power or tuned down a bit ?  Yep another new guy asking advice :)

No mention of caliber ?

That said ... SMOOTHER gun cycles more the accuracy potential increases.  Springs with snug guides and those operating somewhat detuned from typical power output will be more accurate too.

FT is a game of precision and having a guns velocity / pellet combo consistent enough you can effectively use a trajectory program such as Chairgun to predict POI over various ranges.

48/52's are not really the ideal Springer class gun of choice unless detuned some to @ 13-16 ft lb range  where the guns long stroke recoil can be tamed down some.

Doable with some attention to task at hand, a stable tune job and a beefy scope that ranges well.

Dang , sorry . It is a .177 cal. It was purchased well used and will require rebuilding. Thoughts were to detune it a bit and use it as a starter hunter class gun. I am putting this together for my nephew, I am shooting an R-9 all stock and we are just getting into the sport as a fun thing.
