Blue streak Bolt stud alignment

Folks,
I'm replacing the bolt stud on my '77 Blue Streak and need to know that I have it aligned correctly. This is the original stud alongside the locking plate-should one of the flats be slightly angled to parallel the edge of the plate? If so, this one looks like it was slightly off.

what if we removed all the warning labels, and let nature take it's course?

LOL... Scott, man of few words...
The stud needs to be tight no matter where the flats line up. The plate is your adjustment. You will notice the 90* bend on the plate has a slight angle to it to "cam" the stud tighter as you rotate the bolt to the close position.

I was kinda busy, at the time. Couldn't make a long winded reply. But, yeah, Avator's right.
