Crosman 600 Disassembly Problem
«

I am attempting to disassemble my Crosman 600 pistol and do a re-seal, but am having no luck getting the tube out from the frame. The piercing tube will not come out of the front either. I made the suggested hook tool and attempted to pull it out, but no luck. I'm really trying to avoid breaking anything, any ideas on this? Thank you.

Here's some reference material for disassembly, reassembly and more:

I didn't document everything in the disassembly. Part 2 shows reassembly in detail - reverse the order of that.

You should have the 600 stripped down to the bare frame before removing the tube (valve, hammer and cam ring will still be inside the tube).
The tube goes out the back with just a push from a wooden dowel - unless there's something wrong. Make sure you rotate the tube to 2-o'clock position after the cam ring clears the frame. This will keep the breech gasket from getting sliced by the cross pin hole.
I don't know what a 'piercing tube' is, or a 'hook tool' either... sorry

edit: you have to push the tube to the rear about 1/2" to free the pawl... remove the pawl and continue...

Thanks for the information, I read your posts earlier trying to figure this out. The gun is stripped to the bare frame with the exception of the pawl. I followed the Crosman Service Manual through the teardown process. I have a first generation gun with the piercing mechanism inside the front of the tube. The manual suggests bending a piece of 1/8" metal, inserting the bent end in one of two holes, and pulling the piercing assembly out through the front. That doesn't want to move either.

Okay, I'm with you now. It looks like some of the first production runs had some twists and wrinkles. The info wasn't easy to find... but I did find the piercing assembly and the 'hook tool'. That thing doesn't look like it would have a chance of working... maybe if you had two of them, and could get them both inserted?...
But backing up a bit, none of this matters if you can't get the tube out of the frame. Try tapping on the front of the tube with a rubber mallet. If that doesn't do it then push the tube against a wooden block (I think I used the side of my desk) - use a firm grip with both hands and lean into it. That should get it started out the back. You should be able to get something small (small screwdriver) thru the cross pin holes at this point. Pull and twist but don't twist too much until the cam ring can be removed.
If it's still a no-go, don't do anything drastic, you have the option to give MAC 1 a call...hth

Success! After a night of soaking in Blaster it came out with a few hard smacks to the dowel. It appears that the old grease/cosmoline that was put on the tube to protect it was keeping enough adhesion to keep it from moving in the frame. I just didn't want to break anything that would be expensive or hard to get. Thanks again for the advice and the detailed posting you have on this pistol.

That's good news!... and it goes to show that doing some research, and being careful and patient can payoff... sounds like investment advice, LOL
glad I could help so far -
