Ticks have been bad in NYS this year. Our dog picked-up a number of them while visiting outside the Utica area, this spring. But only occasionally gets one here in the Southern Tier. Both are rural areas with a decent deer population. Others in my area, seem to have high populations, so it can be very localized. I have yet to get one in the lower Adks where our camp is. Opossums eat them? We do have those big rats around here.
Lizzie, I saw your post about sulphur. There are no ticks where I hunt but there are plenty of red bugs [Chiggers]. I used sulphur last Tuesday when I hunted and had NO bites. That may be a first for this early in the season.
Alrighty, gonna have to check out garden sulfur.I dislike chiggers intensely, though I still hate ticks more.

I got a case of bed bugs from a hotel in Texas once. Every part of my body was affected. When I say every part, I mean every part.

We used to dust ourselves (shoes, socks, trousers) with garden sulfur before going walking in tick areas.
