In my neighborhood the association does not allow antennas to be mounted on the roof and they certainly do not allow towers. You are lucky to not have a homeowners association like I do.

You are lucky to not have a homeowners association like I do.Back in the late 90's when Over the air Hi-Def channels were introduced it was established per FCC Federal rules that 'Associations" can not prohibit antennas if these are installed in your "wall" or balcony, it has to do with "Free exchange of information" granted under the Constitution, I read on several 'Home Theaters forums' about posters taking Management to court using the FCC Federal rules as evidence, unfortunately even after "legally" using Dishes or compact Digital antennas in their balconies, these user still had all kind of issues to deal with like complains from other residents,harassment, etc, so I sympathize with those living under Homeowners Associations management.
