So I have had a Benjamin 397 for a few years now and used to shoot it all the time. It still gets shot regularly but not daily; I have other guns and a busy schedule so a few times a month probably. I never really used to ever pump it past 4 pumps for shooting paper it just wasn't worth the extra effort. Well when I was shooting the other day and zeroing a new scope I decided to pump it up to 8 pumps. After I shot it I noticed that it didnt use all of the air and I was able to fire a second shot (although at a much lower power). Any idea what would cause this or how to fix it? Im really handy and cheap so any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

Possible the hammer spring might be getting weak causing a lighter strike on the valve stem. It could kust eed some cleaning and lube too.

Yea, like Barry said. Easiest without getting into the valve cartridge is to stretch or replace hammer spring. Give it some lube. What year 397 is it and model PA or P?

It is a 397 PA. I think as far as years go it's probably a 2014?! Not too positive on that but its within a year or two. Where would you guys recommend I look for a new spring? Or is there an upgrade one that may work better?

Ok, just making sure u didn't have the ones with the aluminum valve cartridge. Stretching will probably do it. If not and you need a little more power add something to take up space behind the spring like a washer or ball of sort. If you want new hardware store has it.
