How hard would it be to remove the whole thing? Heat gun off/epoxy back on? To crown the barrel.
Just what I've been searching for. My new Bullboss is slightly different. Mine has similar stuff, but also includes a cone type spacer, like what is used in other moderators/silencers. I had mine apart, and wasn't sure which way to put it back together. If I take it back out, I'll post some pics.
Steve,Have you noticed any clipping of the pellets on the inside of the mod.?-Y

I know the tuning pros and purists cringe and cuss when I mention this but I use Flexhones for crosshatching/polishing when I tune anything (I've only used them on inexpensive Hatsans, cringe away) and I got a 12" bit extender from MSC Industrial: https://www.mscdirect.com/product/details/85740173 It lets me reach the entire length of the receiver, so a brass bolt clamped in it and a pellet in the barrel to keep crud from going down into it and I shouldn't have any problems other than trying to remember which size brass screw to use...lol
I'll preface this by saying it's cold, dark, about to rain/snow and I'm bored and when I get bored I either get stupid with my debit card or take rifles apart and since there's nothing I want at least until I see the Black Friday sales and since i haven't seen anything real in depth on the QE moderators, well.....Your mileage will likely vary on this part as I've read where some caps just unscrew and others are glued. The rifle is the Hatty 95 QE .22 I just got from Midway and at least on mine, a padded set of channel lock pliers (I used duct tape) unscrewed the cap fairly easily. First thing I noticed is it's oily. Whether they lube it for easier installation or it's from the lubes used on the rifle I can't honestly say but every piece has some on it and it will get cleaned up before I put it back together.Underneath that cap is an o-ring to seal the end of the barrel and it was in there pretty snug so likely to help lock the parts of the moderator in place. Now you get to the cylinders with the sound deadener wrapped around them. Mine has 2 of them, about an inch and 7/8ths long with that white stuff wrapped around them. It's about a 1/16th of an inch thick and not quite foam but not quite felt either. Can't say exactly what it's actually made of but the first dumb thought is if you had some way better sound deadening material, you might be able to make the rifle quieter than it already is.Behind those are the 2 aluminum spacers you see in the pics I took. Can't say why exactly they used those instead of a third material wrapped cylinder but if you look at the pic of the inside of the barrel, the sleeve that wraps around the barrel has holes all the way around it so maybe to channel the excess air back and away from the pellet?? Maybe the experts on tht subject will chime in as I'm most definitely not one...lol.Last but not least and why I got in there in the 2nd place (the first was seeing how that moderator is put together) was to have a look at the barrel crown and it could use a bit of work, but as you can see in the pic I took with a tape measure, it's a touch over 6 inches from the edge of the shroud to where the crown of the barrel is so I'll have to see if I can even get a brass screw that long to get in there and touch it up. I'll have everything apart until I sort that out so if you have any questions or want something measured because I just gave you a few of your own ideas, feel free to ask and I'll take more pics and measure whatever needs to be.Hope you enjoyed the little tour of a Hatsan QE moderator and the pics I took, although they could probably be a bit better.
could you guys post a pict of how the shroude comes off the barrle block is it like a maurader has a inset over barrle with xternal threads or the 14 mm nut is exposded so do they use same set up on the pcp bull boss and say the 95 all of the qe shroudes are atached this way ?? i watched a russan take one apart looks to me at the end of barrle at crown its threaded i hope 1/2 20 if way it looked when you in guage threads clock wise then when it gets tight to recever the shroude is held on buy the crown threads am i right
