M712

Ya. It a Taiwan made AG and I bought one.
Fantastic fun with only one flaw!
It comes with plastic grips.
 :o
So I ordered a set for a real M712 made of wood so I could see about getting a pattern made.
Below is the pictures of the 9's and the plastic grips.

Now I also found I'll need to do some trimming of the back sides of the 9's so they fit the frame of the M712.
I think I'll order the Dremel router table thing to do it. The whole goal is to get a base pattern that can be copied so I can have a custom set made by Michael of Airgun Stocks.
He expressed interest in doing a set and I found the price put a smile on my face.

Ordered a wooden holster/stock today.
Not sure it will work as is but I'm ready to adjust it if needed.
 :D

This thing is crazy fun and as promised?
A CO2 hog! 2 magazines of painfully slow hand loading of 18 BB's each?
Your 3rd magazine kind of spits them out.

Sound and actions of this thing is the thrill!
Want to get your neighbors attention?
Walk out the back door and yell "I've had it with you cans!" and empty 18 rounds into one.
If your neighbor is a Guy? He'll be over to look. It's like a shiny object to some birds.
If your neighbor is a Woman? The Cops that show up will want to see it. ;)

They shoot really fast.  You can use the wood stocks with them.

You can always use a speed loader to load them.

The stock and extra magazines are here now. I'll have to do a little work on the stock to get it to attach to the M712.
The metal rail that slides into the grip is a tad to large so a bit of dremel work is needed.
I also plan to add pockets to the leather part for the 3 magazines.
The new stock.

Hey Jeff, I realize that this is an old thread but now that you've had the M712 for about 2 1/2 years has it held up well?  Any other observations you can share now that the pistol has been broken in?

I'm tempted to order one and a couple of extra magazines. I've always wanted get a pistol equipped with a happy switch.

Many thanks to Jeff for selling his M712 to me.  Using the single action function, I can get 4 magazines (72 shots) out of it.  I can get about three when I use the happy switch.

One of the things that I've discovered with blow-back pistols is to use moly-lube on the moving parts.  Part of the gas, as we all know, is used to move the slide or bolt back when firing.  So I figured that anything that could reduce friction could not be bad.

So I put a little moly-lube on the bolt and hammer.  The effect isn't very perceptible but when I use the moly-lube on the trigger surfaces of other guns, the pull weight can be reduced by as much as half a pound.  With that said, I believe there is some improvement to blow-back airguns with use of the moly-lube.

Thanks again to Jeff.  It was great doing business with you.

Hey Mike,

Really happy it has a nice home now.
I'd like to add a longer barrel and make a new outer cover for mine so it's kind of like the Carbine version.
Maybe the longer barrel would add some FPS and accuracy.

I have the parts diagram for the M712 if anyone should want a copy.

I've got an old Daisy 105 B or Buck that has the steel barrel.
It's just a parts gun so I think the barrel would be good to start the carbine conversion.
I'll do some measuring to see about buying a steel tube to make the new outer cover.

The steel barrel will also have another side benefit.  The extra muzzle-heavy weight will reduce the climb of the gun when you fire it with the happy switch turned on ;D
