B40 Accuracy lost and found

Great weekend here is Bama and I decided to shoot the GTA 30 Yard Benchrest Match. So yesterday I measured out the 30 yards and set up my bench. Started warming up and groups were looking good. The I tried to shoot the official target and things are flying all over the place. So back to the practice target and groups have gone out of control. My dime size 25 yard groups have suddenly become more like dollar bill size groups at 30 yards.
So I run thru the normal list, all screws and bolts are tight, breach seal is good, scope seems to be good. So, I lost the light and put everything up for the night. First thing this morning I hit the range again and everything still stinks. I re-checked everything again and all still looked good. So I decided to do something I haven't done since the gun was new, clean the barrel. I pulled 5 dry patches thru the barrel. The first 2 patches came out with enough lead on them to make a new tin of pellets
The next three patches gradually cleaned up until the patch was only slightly grey.
Now it was back to the range. The first 30-40 shots weren't any better than before, but then things started to improve. By the time I hit 50 or 60 shots everything was back to normal. Dime size groups at 30 yards. Of course, the light was gone by this time and I never did get around to shooting the match. Oh well, have to wait until next time, and I'll just pull a couple patches thru every 1000 rounds or so.

Sounds like my experiences with the XL1100... Likes a somewhat clean barrel.

Sometines a barrel that gets dirty quickly is caused by oil in the combustion chamber. Disassembly and cleaning the combustion chamber prior to going back up with proper lubes may keep it from getting dirty too quickly

I have installed a Vortek kit and JM seal in my B40 and I completely removed all factory lube and relubed it correctly with minimal moly. The barrel did have close to 1000 rounds thru it (maybe more), so I would not consider that it gets dirty quickly.
But now that I know that this barrel will loose accuracy due to lead fouling, I will pull a patch thru every couple hundred shots and see if it makes a difference.

Mike, Try this. 100% scrub clean it, and start from scratch. Then as precisely as you can, count the # of shots it takes to break back in, adn then lose accuracy.
Thanks

More of a double question... a gun thats already broken in internally.... that has a barrel completely strip cleaned... takes approximately how many shots to re season the barrel? i've heard 50 on average. at the same time... if you have already stripped the lube, and properly lubed it, and your getting very consitant chrony numbers, how long before the barrel becomes "unaccurate". myself, as well as others i'm sure, are interested.

Only problem is that I bet these numbers will be very gun specific. Just like the, "which pellet should I use?" question.
