What are you having trouble with the scope?
Hey mikey. Nice groups, they've definitely tightened up and Luke you mentioned you're only a few hundred rounds in so it will only get better. I appreciate your reports on this rifle as I've been strongly considering purchasing a MM tuned rifle myself, I just can't figure out exactly which one I want. So keep them coming please because I'm sure I'm not the only one paying attention. I see that the jsb 15.89 and the sniper mags have done well for you and I was curious if you've tried the jsb 18.13?
Definitely a big improvement Michael. I took a look back at the beginning. You and the 46 underlever have come a long way!Are you still shooting 10 yards? If so, might be time to move it out a little if you have the room.
If you want to get the hold out of the equation I like using a sandbag with a silicone cutlet (Google it) on top. It mimicks resting it on your hand, and works a little better than that for me.
Mikey,Have you checked the bore of the barrel for any defects or burrs that can be damaging the pellets? Do you have a flexible cleaning cable to push a pellet through the barrel to check for damage and loose or tight spots? Is you barrel choked?Do you have a chronograph to check if your velocities are consistent?I think you're going to have to buy more different kinds of pellets to try out for accuracy. The rifle picks the pellet. This is due to harmonics. I put my new HW100 through a pellet test last night and found one pellet the the rifle will keep putting through the original .177" pellet hole. To find this pellet I ran 5 shot groups at 10 yards of 26 different .177 pellets. The winner was the Air Arms Diabolo Field Heavy. My regulated and power boosted Air Arms T200 shots the JSB Exact Heavy Diabolo the best. Not as good as the HW100 but the HW100 shot a lot of pellets better than the T200.When the T200 was running at around 600 fps and unregulated it had a different favorite pellet. So as long as you have a good barrel and consistent velocity you should be good to find the most accurate pellet.Taso
While I don't Have an actaual Chronograph, I do have a free android app called "Chrono Connect"Maybe it is not as accurate as a real chrono, but I believe the base line and subject tests deviate from the standard by the same amount on any given test session. So the readings would be the same tolerance +/- if all performed at the same time from the same positions.. Now if you set up again later, to test other pellets, all bets are off. But if you do everything in one sitting it should be relevant and accurate info. But hey... it's free!
The groups are looking pretty good. I'm guessing it's as much you settling in with the rifle as the rifle settling in. Chronographs have gotten cheap in the last few years, and are better featured. I got a Caldwell with LED lights that has not failed to work even under florescent lights for less than 100$. And there's an app to record data.
