If piston slides through compression tube with only gravity it's probably too lose. It should take two to three pounds of force to push it through the compression tube. The loose piston seal coupled with the light pellets could result in spring or seal damage over time.
Not sure what else could be going on.Rifle: Beeman Silver Kodiak X2This rifle is supposed to get more like 15 ft/lbs and I'm barely breaking 12.

You'd wanna know why right?

I get my seals from Air Rifle Headquarters. They list the outside diameters for the seals they sell if you are willing to look. They do not list the inside diameters - where they pop over the piston button.I do not know if that's a standard dimension with all airguns. I only use two different types of seals but could measure the inner dimensions of each if needed.
Don't think temps had anything to do with it. More like the seal spread out, due to being compressed by the spring, making it a better fit to the compression tube.Try shooting it, for a while, and see how it performs.
It's gotta be losing air at one or more points as has been pointed out - piston seal, breech seal, pellet size, etc. No personal experience with this model, but it's way under the Straight Shooters benchmarks:https://www.straightshooters.com/ourtake/ourtakerx2.html
