My very first airgun, a Diana Model 22, in .177 cal, made in the UK, is back in my possession.... I got it for Christmas about 1958, so it is about 60 years old.... I put thousands of pellets through it, as did my three nephews, and to my surprise my brother, who recently passed, still had it, stashed in the ceiling of his house....
I have no intention of selling it, and the leather cup seal is toast, plus it's missing the breech seal.... but I am curious if anyone knows what the original velocity of this gun might have been.... and also what years it was manufactured....

Congratulations for the ticket to those old and good feelings.
Although Diana is not the same.., I would try to ask them.

Had a 23, which I believe shared the same powerplant. Mine was a .22 cal.
Believe it clocked abt 350 with light ammo. Have to guess 400+ for urs

Bob,
If you need parts to restore this piece of your youth, try
www.gunspares.co.uk
. T.W. Chambers has lots of parts like leather cup seals, breech seals and even mainsprings.
Good luck getting going again.
Steve
PS, I am very sorry to hear about you losing your brother. That is a very high price to pay to get an airgun back. May God Bless you with His Peace.

Bob,
I have some numbers from a Daisy 220, AKA Milbro Diana 22. Should be very close to an Original Diana 22.
RWS Hobby 7.0gr 470 fps
RWS R10 7.0 490
RWS Supermag 9.2 365
JSB 7.3 470
JSB WC 8.2 425
JSB 8.4 435
CPL 7.9 450
H&N Match Green 5.2 560
H&N Baracuda Hunter 10.3 355
The rifle has a new mainspring and good seals. I used an o-ring for the breach seal; just found one that fits.
The month/year of manufacture may be stamped on the butt end of the stock, near the top.
The Original Diana 22 (German manufacture) was made from 1953 to 1985; the Milbro Diana from the late 1940's to the early 1970's.

Thanks for that Paul.... That is stronger than I thought it might be, I was thinking more like low 400s with 7.8 gr. pellets.... Maybe it's worth rebuilding it at some point.... Steve, thanks for that source for parts, also.... I'm guessing it is the Milbro Diana, because it says "Made in the UK".... I actually popped an O-ring in for the breech seal, and it seems to stay in place....
