I've spent a number of hours trying to do my own homework with not much success. Here's my questions:

1. Is the GRT4G the correct trigger for the Urban? I think it's made for break barrel guns but does it work on the Urban.

2. Are there any disassembly instructions available for the Urban trigger? Specifically how do you remove the trigger assembly from the action? Any special tools needed?

Bill,

The Urban came around long after the original CDT passed away, the trigger is very similar to the one in the Urban and may fit but I have not tried it myself.  The OP may be able to answer the question better if he responds...

I have both the Urban and the Swar Maxxim, they do use the same trigger assembly, as to whether the GRT4G fits the trigger assembly I can not confirm.

To remove the trigger from the Swarm a spring compressor is required, the Urban needs to be disassembled (upper from lower) as the plastic cover plate on the trigger assembly is captive along the top edge by the upper and can not slide out of the end. It can be disassembled without degassing.

Yes the GRT 4 Trigger fits the Urban, I have one in mine and it works well, increases accuracy, much better all round gun with the GRT 4

this is awesome news, how light is the trigger now and did that eliminate creep ?

I've replaced several Grt4 triggers. I simply pop the trigger plate off. Then grind the inside edge off so the side plate snaps back on then screw it down. It really easy and fast . No need to take it down any further.

The trigger is lighter but not by a huge amount, the difference is the trigger has a very solid feel and the break is crisper, it is fully adjustable....

On the CDT GRT 4 trigger It is easier to remove and replace trigger and a lot easier to work on when out...

If you have to do it:

1).Remove Stock 2 screws
2).Turn the barrel upside down and lay flat on a table, to the side of the trigger at the end of the trigger housing is a small hole, place a long allen key into it and remove this bolt, turn over and remove two top screws just to the left of the magazine clip port, this will remove the top section - watch ball and spring as well as small pin, remove these and place to the side.
3). Trigger unit will slide out

Note you will have to make a small holding pin, as the current trigger has this pin molded as part of the plastic (built into it), this can be made from cutting a small flat part of a drill bit and inserting...

The pin is a 4 millimeter diameter by 12 mm length

The only hole I can find is the one where the stock screw goes in. Is the allen screw you're talking about in the bottom of this hole?

Never mind - I found it.

I don't really have a problem with my stock Urban trigger. A bad trigger instantly attracts my attention. That hasn't been the case with my Urban. I do have the CDT trigger in the FireCat (chopped GAMO Silent Cat). I may pop it out and try it in the Urban. If the difference is significant I'll order another for the FireCat.
Thanks for the thread.

I got my CDT trigger today and got it installed. It took me a long time to figure out why my trigger assembly wouldn't come out when I followed the above instructions. What I was missing was the pin that goes into the top of the trigger unit. You have to pull it out before the trigger assembly will come out. It's called the end plug pin on the parts diagram.

I made the missing pin for the front hole in the trigger from a drill as described above. A piece of a 5/32" drill x .47" long worked perfect.

After the installation I found that the new trigger had a long pull a lot like the old one. I turned the adjusting screw in until the travel got shorter. After doing that the pull was really light - almost scary. When I get it pumped up again I'll try to find a better setting.

The trigger pull weight problem probably happened b/c I didn't read the adjustment instructions. I may have to un-install and reset the 2nd stage adjustment screw.

I don't think the Urban really needs a upgraded trigger.   Mine did not come with any instructions and they don't have a Uban manual on Gamo Site (they link it to a BSA scorpion trigger, totally different)

The trigger is plastic (not metal like photo) but does not flex so its good enough to keep.

First stage feel - There is a screw for the amount.  screw in to shorten it.

Second stage sear - It comes with a useless 6mm screw that I don't think touches the sear at all.   So you are stuck with the stock feel unless you swap that screw out.   Its a 6mm long m2.5 screw.    I found 8mm about perfect, just screw it all the way in and you are done.     10mm is too long and will give you a dangerous hair trigger.    I found that if you back off the screw at all it will be sort of loose.  Would need to add some kind of thread goo for it to stay put.   I just screwed mine in all the way so its tight.

I haven't done anything yet but when I do it will be a grub screw with no head. I may even grab a CDT trigger if for no other reason, to support a great lady and to keep some GTA history alive.

Whats the advantage of a headless screw?   If mine did not have a head it would never have snugged up tight.   The threads just seem on the loose end like it would fall out on its own from vibration.

I just looked at my trigger and its not quite like in the diagram.  I don't see a screw for the first stage, don't really need it though.

I think the diagram was showing the BSA with the first stage screw as opposed to the Urban without.
I think the headless screw will give me more adjustability without the head sticking out. I can use a little candle wax or blue Loctite to tighten up the threads.

Well, I finally got around to installing the CDT GRT 4 trigger in my Urban. I forgotten I even bought the durn thing until I was looking for something on the work bench.
It's not completely a drop in replacement.
First off, I didn't want to take the whole trigger group out of the gun so I kinda had to coax the cover off. And in order to easily put it back I had the trim the plastic "knob" area off the top of it. No biggie, snaps right on after and the screws keep it from moving at all.
Next, the stock plastic trigger has the pin molded into it. The CDT kit I had didn't come with a replacement so I had to make one out of a drill bit shank as others have. The issue here was, I had one the was just a tad too big and the next size down had a bit more play than I wanted. So I used the slightly larger one to drill the hole in the trigger, the pocket for the pin and the little "key" looking doodad. Then I cut that same bit to length and VIOLA !!   Done dilly dilly.
Applied a little molly here and there, put it back together and stepped out on the deck to test it.
I didn't need to make a single adjustment, it was right there. No travel.... just a light crisp, predictable snap and the lead gets gone.
Next I checked the safety and it worked as it should..... SUCCESS !!!
Now I just need to remember what I was looking for on the tool bench.

Look here.... I was happy with the stock trigger on my Urban and probably could have continued using it indefinitely. But, once again, the CDT trigger is night and day difference. Making that pin the way I did took all the side to side and travel slop out of the gun. I know if you have an Urban you know what I'm talking about. Next, there is no "rub" you get from plastic on plastic. For $33 and a bit of tinkering with tools you already have around the house a marked improvement is accomplished. Plus, it kept me out of Betty Lou's hair for an hour or so.

My CDT trigger has always had a real long travel before firing. After a couple years of laziness I took my Urban apart and used the trigger adjustment trouble shooting document from CDT to re-adjust the trigger. Here is the important part:

"Remove the GRT-4G trigger from the trigger block. Looking at the threads showing on the screw
on the opposite end of the slot, there should be approx. 1/32 of an inch of threads showing. Adjust it
to that point so that it's close."

I decided that the screw was a 3-48 and calculated that 1/32" was 1.5 turns. I turned it out till flush with the trigger and then screwed it in 1.5 turns. This made the 2nd stage close to perfect.
