Women flip out for just about anything, so trying to avoid it is futile ...
If you can spare the cash and if you really want it, just buy it. There is really no justifiable reason to buy any kind of weapon beyond protection and "i like, i want".
Do women really need all the clothes and shoes they buy?

Yes, women (most of 'm though) really "need" all off 'm. One pair to go with that dress, one pair for ... etc. So if next time she begins explaining about all her dresses and shoes, just listen and nod like if you agree and understand. When she's finished with that, take her to your gun collection and apply the same reasoning
One gun for paper-punching with the 30/30 scope, another one for plinking in the afternoon with the reddot because it's kinda loud, than there's a scope that came with another gun but didn't really fit but it
really
deserves a gun so I just
have
to get the gun for it meaning your next purchase
Job done

Let her enjoy the lions share of the 12 pack, or just let her down em all, then when she asks about the new shooter you can tell her she was just drunk and doesn't remember.
Problem solved, where's my prize??

Heh, not married, but been with the same gal for 9 years. I wish she WOULD give me more trouble about the things I buy. I get carried away sometimes, but she's just happy to see me happy. Not rubbing it in or anything.

I made my wife feel better by selling something of equal value. Well it was pretty close. Anyway I must say that it was fair as far as I was concerned and it didnt leave any room for arguments from her side.
Good luck.

Thanks for all the sound advice. A lot of good tactics and some just plain silly. My wife is a wonderful woman that barely flips out about anything. The only reason I needed to justify it is that I have so many powder burners. That was her argument. I then brought up her obsession for shoes and that's all it took. Yup! Just ordered it. Too bad pyramyd air didn't have the steel breech kit. I have an old pistol scope that's deadly accurate just itchin to be mounted on something

Don't ask, don't tell. If you can afford it using a "Mad-Money" stash, and want it, then get it. If you can't afford it, don't get it. Need has little to do with any of these Air Gun purchases... rather than dip into family funds, or funds that shouldn't be use for such things... I suggest that you sell things from past hobbies that you no longer "Play" with. Those things need to be turned into things/toys that you are now interested in. Sitting on a pile of past "Stuff" is just dumb IMO... clear that JUNK out and get New stuff! If done that way, your wife should have little to say... you are just "re-arraigning" your Stuff. I've paid for ALL of my many Air Gun purchases through the sale of just one PB gun that I had not even shot for many years... that gun has now brought me pleasure in Both my Long Range PB Stage of life, and now in my Air Gun Shooting Stage of life.

Selling my pb's just isn't going to happen. Although I'm asked on a regular basis if I'm ready to sell a few of them. I do hunt large game and varmint/pest hunt. Really I can't justify selling any of them because they all still get used in one way or other. I am not so much in a bind that money is an issue. Also I reload my own shells and have stock piles of ammo, powder, primers, etc. I just might be why there is a 22 lr shortage too
I shoot benchrest target matches and if anyone knows that can get to be an expensive hobby real quick. We don't have any children to give our undivided attention. So to fill the void guns are my hobby. I love getting out and shooting. It is relaxing, frustrating, and most of all just plain fun. So basically just wanting to know from the gurus of air rifles if this was a viable purchase. I'm sort of a tight wad with my money and so is my wife. We don't just spend frivolously. We talk about the purchases we make and decide if it's a legitimate purchase.
Oh, and on a side note, this morning got two nutters and a chipper.
