FINALLY got to shoot my BSA...

As some of you know, I traded off my Diana 54 on a BSA Sportsman HV, just couldn't stand NOT having a PCP :-). Had some issues with putting together a fill station, so I've had this thing for TWO WEEKS!! without being able to fire a shot. Finally got the missing piece today, and then had an issue with a major leak! Turned out to be operator error, who'd of thought that a BSPP fitting with Dowdy seal would need Teflon tape
? Anyway, got that sorted out, stuck a scope on it (CP 4-16x40), and finally got to put a few pellets through it. No serious testing yet, I'm shooting in my shop at 10M, EVERYTHING makes one tiny hole, and I haven't run it over the chrony yet. But this thing is a SWEEEEET shooter, and if the temp will ever get above 20 again, I'll dig a path through the snow and stretch her legs a bit. Sorry, no pics yet, but I promise to get to it in the next couple of days. Later.

One tiny hole @ 10, nice. Good thing you have the shop to at least get a quick fix.

I got the gamo dynamax basically the same BSA sportsman hv rifle. it shoots better then my marauder, but dynamx w/o shroud or ldc, it's loud. do tell me what you get to quiet the report? I try out one 8" ldc so far and it is still no as quiet as my .22 marauder. have another 8.5" ldc coming, so I hope I can get teh noise down to be neightbor friendly.

Eddie,
Please do another post with the LD's you tried and the results. I see one of these guns in my future but can't have it being loud. Am hoping to learn from your process

There you go, Dave.
You have some balance with your arsenal now.
You have that .20 caliber CFX project to cover your springer side, and you have that cool new BSA for the dark side.

I installed a 7.5" LDC on my DynaMax and it is now "backyard friendly" and mimicks the puff sound of a nerf ball being launched.
The accuracy is on par with my BSA Scorpion which shoots great.

Eddielee70,
I sent you an email re:LDC.
I was comparing it to my BSA Scorpion bullbarrel .177 and my Super 10 .22 with moderator.
Both are quiet but I haven't had the opportunity to hear the Marauder report.

Mine came with a full length RFM shroud, but I'd pulled it off because it interfered with the scope I put on. Decided I was getting tired of shooting with ear muffs on, so I installed a different scope and put the shroud back on. What a difference! Say what you like about (@&^)(#^*, the guy knows what he's doing when it comes to shrouds. Don't know that I'd call it mouse fart quiet, but the hammer and pellet strike are both louder. I'm having some issues with the magazine, it doesn't index consistently, so pellet testing is kind of a challenge. Not that 10M is really a test, but it doesn't look like I'll be shooting outside anytime soon. Had a couple of days that got warm, got all the way up to 30 today, but we have more single digit temps on the way. Glad I've got a heated shop :-). Later.

Funny you should mention having indexing problems with your BSA. I have a Scorpion 22 cal. Bullbarrel and I have been having trouble with the same thing for about 2 years. It was that way right out of the box. I called AOA and they told me I could try adjusting the indexing mechanism myself before sending the gun back. I tried adjusting the rifle many times but could never get it perfect. I didn't really want to send the gun back just for an adjustment. I live in Pennsylvania. So, if I remembered to, I always gave the trigger an extra pull before I cocked the rifle. I've shot a few thousand shots thru this gun and the second stage needed to be adjusted. Last Saturday I gave the second stage screw a little more than a quarter turn to the left, put the gun back together and to my surprise my gun indexes everytime now. Second stage is better too.

Cool, I'll definitely give that a try, I haven't adjusted the trigger to suit me, yet, but it needs it. Not too heavy, but the first/second stage profile just isn't to my liking. I've heard that the earlier mags had some issues, I've had mine apart several times already trying some of the fixes suggested elsewhere on the web. Mine's at minimum preload right now, I think I'm going to try giving it another turn and see if it helps. I also realized that the oring that holds the pellets in place was too close to the rear cover, I think pellets were binding on the rear cover. Already recut the oring groove, that helped, but I need to take it a little farther. No big deal, one of the nice things about getting this rifle now is that I have the time to get it all sorted out BEFORE going hunting with it :-). Later.

here is report of the two LDC I tested on my .22 Dynamax. I sold one the weaker heavier LDC and keep the TKO LDC( better design)
I also tested the .25 marauder and .177 ruger blackhawk.
