The .177 and .22 pellets don't go in very far at all.
I like your trap alot but I would put some aluminum strips around the edge to protect the wood.In the photo below the strips are steel because this is my .25 calber box.My .177 box only has aluminum...

Hopefully you don't have to move it much, or maybe you use that dolly I see in the background of the second image. I figured the .177 probably didn't go in very far, but for the first iteration I didn't want to take chances. I may shorten it up someday if I get tired of moving it around. I made a duct seal version before I got the Marauder. The Marauder started smacking the back of the trap after two shots in the same location so I wanted to make sure that didn't happen again.
I probably need to do an update on my own pellet trap but here's the original video:
The long term problem becomes preventing "shooting out" the target backing with repetitive shots. I've tried rugs, cardboard, Welcome mats without true success. The best idea seems to be to move the target around and to have a simple way to replace the backing. I do like the idea of the mulch and have added some to my own trap. I just put a bag of mulch in a cardboard box and used wire to hold it in place.
I see you have a GTA 10M rifle match target on yours. Come join us here... http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=114250.0
I have just 4 1/2 inches of rubber mulch in my trap. No pellet has ever gotten through and hit the backstop (15 FPE 177, 26 FPE 22).
The only thing to watch out for is settling of the rubber pieces. Every so often you have to check and add some as needed or high shots may miss the mulch.I also recycle the lead easily every 2000 pellets or so.... nicely cleaned up lead which I take to the local hazardous household waste collection.
