Turkish Walnut Stock

My new Hatsan Proxima has a beautiful stock. Not sure what the factory finish consists of, its a flat finish of some sort. My gut reaction is to wax it to give it a bit of protection from finger oils and the like. Or maybe an oil coating, like Tru-oil? My goal isn't to make it shinny, I just want to protect it a bit. Any ideas?

You might look into this stuff...it can be used on the stock as well as the metal:
