I recently started shooting airguns, and I've been working my way up to longer shots, though I've been a bit limited by conditions and location. What type of ammo would you recommend for 100+ yard shots with a .177? I'll be shooting them from a Gamo Shadow Whisper break-barrel.
I have some Gamo TS-10 pellets that are marketed for "long-range accuracy," as well as Gamo Armor and Raptor Pba pellets. I also have some slugs on the way here, both lead (10gr JSB Knockouts) & Pba (8.5gr ZAN). The Armors are extremely accurate and light, so I'm curious about how they would perform at range? I don't know much about the Raptors, bc they break the sound barrier, and irritating my neighbors could get me kicked off the property where I do most of my shooting. Currently saving those for a trip to the shooting range. If anyone has experience using these for long-range shooting, how did they work and what was the range? Any other ammo you would recommend?
I'm also curious about how far most skirted pellets can be fired with any accuracy?
Lastly, I could really use a rangefinder, so any recommendations for an affordable one would really be appreciated.
