Title: Leapers Lifetime Warranty / I've seen the light
Post by: jab on November 17, 2018, 04:53:42 PM
Anyone ever have them make good on this warranty ?  I just sent one back,  In my life, I've never had any company claiming a warranty ever  make good on that  and  I've  never gotten back  a Rebate    :'(

I have a  3x9  bugbuster    and   am about to buy a 3x12   Bug,   if they don't come though.  ________

Here's the problem child.

I am waiting to see your results, with baited breathe!  Let's see how they treat a customer that takes a risk on a higher end, low end scope!

The first time I returned my scope they replaced it.  When I sent the replacement back they adjusted it.  I haven't sent it back again - yet.  In short, although it costs me $20 each time I return a scope I have been treated well by Leapers.

I call the 40$  Simmons/Tasco  or the chinese cheapies   disposable.  once they go over 100$.
yes  UTG/leapers is border line

The shipping cost  yes  I looked at this.   It cost me 15/18$ to ship it.   On the phone  the word was.  IF,    "they"  make good  it  " might be"  an offer  to go up or down on a replacement scope.  He sounded like repairing that one wasn't going to happen.

watch  they'll make an offer.  I'll say no.   They'll want 40  bucks to ship the broken scope back   :o

I have had so much good luck with them.  I really hope they hold up their end, at leastby upgrading you, and the upgrade holds up too.  If they are not watching the forums they are fools.  As far as I know, they have 2 kinds of customers- airgunners that know what is up, and the "tacti-cool" crowd that hasn't yet been educated by the naysayers.

I sent them an older 3-9 Bugbuster with a zoom problem, which I probably caused myself by forcing it, and they called me and asked me about it. I told them what happened, the tech politely explained I was not supposed to do that, and should have sent it back when the problem first came up and became stiff.

They promptly sent me a sealed new one in the box!I have been loyal, in that I have owned over a dozen scopes from UTG, and still have 4 or 5 now. I am happy with their service.
Cheers

John it sounds like Leapers might be good to deal with,  don't get too stressed out thinking bad things.  Wait and see,  maybe the Christmas spirit will prevail

I'm not stressed at all.   I buy  quite at bit of UTG   AR & SKS stuff.  even when the   "They's"   say  it's garbage,   This is the only thing that has ever failed.   I think this gave up from sitting way to long  it was used on a marauder.

Ah. So the Marauder is a safe queen?
I like my Marauder,  it the one that I like best.
I only have 4 air rifles, Crosman 760 pumper, crosman 2240 CO2, Benjamin Marauder 25 cal pcp, and Airforce Condor SS in 25 caliber. It's easy and 38 to 40 foot pounds is pretty powerful.  I only shoot at paper so I guess a red Ryder would work.

That Marauder is more  a corner stander, it's gen 1.  I use  my prod or  a gen 2 rilfe.

There's four Marauders to choose from.  truth is they get boring,  you never miss.  no challenge   to using them.   Well :   not that boring   I just bought the last Marauder  2/3 weeks ago.

and ......    That scope   is maybe 8 yrs old.  I bought that and the gen 1  same day.

I personally like Leapers products myself, so far I haven't had to send any of them in for repair.  Even the one I bought used at an airgun show a couple years ago is still working great.

I have sent at least 3 back.  They have never given me a hard time.  I pay to ship the failed one back, they pay to ship the replacement to me.

In fact I have one to ship out tomorrow.  It failed in a fairly dramatic way.  It's 3 year old etched glass 3-12 compact utg and has had a rough life...  It has been on a Hatsan 135, RWS 350, and most recently been on a RWS 48.  Probably 3000+ shots across those rifles.

I had it out a week or two ago after replacing the spring on my 48 and it was fine until it wasn't  :-)  quite literally i saw the focus shift during a shot.  I had a target at 30 yards or so and after this one shot I had to readjust and the sidewheel ended up around 200 yards.  It still seems to work, but something obviously shifted.  A lot.

I think UTG wants to diagnose what happened here.

OH, I almost forgot.  I have ordered a Diana ZR mount so maybe these returns will be a thing of the past.

I've been following this thread because I have five UTG's, from a Bugbuster to a 4-16x44, most of them are A/O. I have not put nearly the amount of rounds through mine that others have so I have yet to have a problem, but I am wondering..... Given the number of returns reported here, how do UTG's stack up against other brands in a similar environment?

If you are going to get another UTG do not get the same scope.  They have a bunch of decent cheap scopes, obviously yours is not one of them. :D

I bought a 4-16X44 that I sent back on my dime. The replacement was also bad, sent back on their dime. After a short phone exchange with their excellent CS rep Sage, they replaced my 4-16X44 with a 4-16X56, glass reticle scope. Zero problems since. LOVE the glass reticle.

Curious as to what exactly was wrong with your original as that is one that I have as well. My issue with it is that the entire inside of the eyepiece is illuminated. I talked to them and they convinced me that it was normal, but my other 36 color bling things don't do that to such a degree as this one.

The first one, the zero let go. The second, the parallax would not repeat, and the zero changed by about 5 MOA with each adjustment.

Dennis,
You bring up a good point.
However, considering how many UTG scopes are sold, and used on springers, and abused because they are not that expensive, etc. etc. the numbers you are seeing here are minimal.
It also seems that most people have been treated fairly and taken care of. Isn't THAT what we care about in customer service after all ??
Cheers

when you consider they sell millions of these, I'm sure there is not that many returns.   I mean how many junk simions or  Bushnell's do you have.

To often these   warranty's are meaningless   hence the reason I've waited so long with this scope.

take crosman,   last Christmas I buy a 1377  in fact two.  with in 4 days mine goes flat. it won't pump up.   take out the piston and there is two huge metal shaving wrapped around the piston seal, and scratch marks in the tube.

I call crosman and order parts,  in telling the lady  whats up, she said  "  why didn't send it back on warranty"     I ask her >>   How do you think I know about the metal shaving ?     I took it apart.    she says ..   Oh.   so much for the warranty.
Like it's my fault    they use chinese assembly  employees  or I put shaving inside  a  4 day old gun    lolol

Don't even get started on the crosman rebate  I've never gotten  on two!  rifles.  which was the only reason I bought those rifles.

why is it crosman will not out right sell a LW barrel

Heeee  haaaaa.    They left the light on,   $20  for a upgrade.   forgot the details on what the up grade is  but who cares.   Like the guy said   shipping to me will be about $20.

And  I ordered the new bugbuster yesterday   lolol.

So   YES  Leapers is making good   !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today.  goes as a mark in history ,  in my history anyway.

THEY made GOOD !!!    ;D   Cost me 35 bucks to get  a new 95$ scope,  and a broken scope  that cost right 100$

The 35 is my shipping them the old one plus the extra 20$  for whats called an upgrade  which it isn't an upgrade.

Glad you got it all sorted out.

I'm curious to know if, when you illuminate the reticle at full bright, does it light up the entire inside of the eyepiece like my 4-16x44mm does?

I hadn't put the battery in til now,  yes it lights up pretty bad  mainly the last 3 settings.  it's dark outside now, maybe during the it won't be as bright

Thanks for checking. Now I know it's not just my scope with that problem.

You're right, darkness/lower reticle illumination helps.

So does this as it decreases the effective diameter of the eyepiece, but not enough to be worriesome.

can't use the last 3 ..  >>  when you don't use a battery        ::) ::) ::) ::)

I never use those lights.   cides  this scope got replaced years ago, as of now  I have two brand new leapers scopes sitting here,   not sure what to use those on.   Only guns here without scopes,   The mount cost more than the scope

I could put this one on a pistol thats up coming  the scope is only 5" longer than the pistol  :o

During daylight.   the green   no to bad.   red   alot of glare   caused by the finish inside the scope,   if they would use  a duller finish  that would knock the reflection down

henry ford is doing a 600 for me  ( hot valve, long barrel ) so I waiting for that.  Then it's decide which style of rail to mount on top.  mainly for the Bling ? change the looks of the gun.

I really don't like the 600 looks without and barrel and something on top and wood grips.   without all that they just old like an old crosmans paint ball  or there tranquilizer gun

I've seen those on guns, but never in a group.   They sure look pretty, but not the bling for the buck  I'm after.  They could give me the matt black and the silver sets.  I'd try those and do a ytube video,  Then the world would buy,  cause  I said soooo   and sew

scope didn't go bad in the corner.  That one was replaced with a 28$  cv life  that is huge and is like looking through a coke bottle.  there is one tiny little spot you can see through.

Thanks for the heads up on CV LIFE, I'm still looking at argos, utg and Leapers.
I have a Alpha scope from Cabelas that's very clear, 3 -12 × 40. It can focus down to 3 yards when set to 3x. No FFP or side focus but it works. It was $99 on sale for $60. 😎
