The last few days it has been warm and humid. Not typical fall wether for Minnesota. I was out early this morning. The trees in the woods are still full of leaves and the visibility was poor. I knew that any shooting that I would get would be at close range so I brought my Crosman 2100 117cal rifle and my Crosman 1377 pistol. Both were loaded with 117cal Crosman 7.4gr pointed pellets. I shot the 1st Gray Squirrel at 10 yards with the 1377 pistol and the 2nd squirrel at 18 yards with the 2100 multi-pump rifle. Both guns were pumped up to 10 pumps. The shot with the 1377 pistol was straight on with the squirrel being at 6ft off the ground. The shot with the 2100 rifle was up with the squirrel being 20 ft off of the ground. The White Acorn crop was not as good as last year but was still substantial. I felt that I was Real Lucky this morning with the visibility being so poor. The ticks & mosquitoes were thick and it was buggy this morning. I was the only person out hunting this morning. Opening Deer season is the big hunting season around here and few folks do small game hunting around where I live.

Tommy, those are some incredible shots! Boy, those woods are thick with foliage and BITEY BUGS! LOL! Anyway, that was not lucky....MAD SKILLS I’d say! Excellent hunting my friend :).

With the 1377 even! Very nice! Makes me want to take mine with me tomorrow when I set up deer stand.

Tom that is awesome with the 1377, getting close to wary critters is a stalking art I don’t possess.

Tom, well done under adverse conditions. LSU vs Auburn game is at "half time" and I got a chance to read your post. I guess we are both hoping for cooler weather to defoliate the areas. Hee hee

I Thank All of You Folks for the kind replies. I feel fortunate to gotten anything today. The foliage was really thick and there wasn't a hole lot of movement going on.

Tom I commend you on braving the heat and mosquitoes, out there. Sure doesn't feel like hunting weather here either, I spent the day warning city slickers , that if they get lost in the corn maze the bloodsuckers would devour them completely.

James ...I had the mosquitoes all over me this morning, even with the big spray on. Once the Hurricane goes away, it is supposed to get a lot cooler. Apparently the storm in Texas and the Hurricane in North Carolina is pushing the warm Texas weather up her and locking it in.
Next week it is supposed to be about 20 to 25 degrees cooler. The hunting will pick up once that happens.

As the others have said "Great shooting" , with a couple classics no less. I like rotating my guns when I go out so they all feel loved!

Thank You Randy for your kind words. I rotate my guns too but when the cold weather sets in hard, I usually only take out the rifles with plastic stocks. The ice & snow are real hard on a wood stock and I have to be soooo careful with them. The woods where I live are full of Buckthorn and Wait-a-Minute vines. The sharp thorns on them will tear-up a wooden stock too. I have pondered about coating my Crosman Vantage ( in a Titan stock) and my Benjamin Trail NP XL 1100 with Truck Bed Liner to solve that issue but as of now I have not done so.
