A simple meter to measure the muzzle speed for airguns, small easy setup very affordable, using infrared sensors. Measures in meter per second we can convert to FPS easily

Good Luck !

I like the looks of this.
Please post your views.
Does it work inside?
This one seems easier to use on the bench than the ones that clamp on the gun barrel.
Just be careful that you do not shoot it.
It says hold the muzzle 4 cm to 8 cm = 1.5" to 3.1" from the meter. Is that true?
$28.92 - $4 if this is your first order? WOW!

I just ordered today it will be here in about 3-4 weeks via epacket from China. Will post a review once I got it. According to the review video link that I posted, it should work inside, and looks like the reviewer holding the gun muzzle very close to the meter. I like it’s simple setup and compact size. For $28 i would like to take the risk. There area wide range of shooting chronograph on the market from $28 to $500 ( LabRadar) just pick whatever it suit your budget and requirement
Best regard !

AliExpress also has this one that clamps to the barrel.
Does anyone know which is best?
Will a break barrel rifle recoil damage the one that clamps on the barrel?
Jimmy, I ordered this one today. I will post the results when I get it and try it out.
I already have a ProChrono Pal plus a Caldwell Kit, so this is just something else to play with.

I have one but the charging cord is a USB plug that can charge off my desktop computer.
I wouldn't trust myself to shoot at a target through the chrono.
I set it up on the tripod and keep the rifle on a bench rest and eyeball the barrel to the chrono then shoot.

got one on the way...... 8)
just a simple equation is all you need ;)
x3.28=fps
-
I'd love to know how accurate it is compared to a well known brand. Please post results if you can compare!
-
Compact is cute and handy; but the shorter the distance between sensors, the harder the chrono and the user have to work to produce accurate results. While very fast clock speeds and sensors help, angular errors are more easily induced, where the pellet has travels perhaps 10% further, giving false low readings.
Even just mounting sensors in the device with a millimeter or two spacing error can start producing greater than 2% "fast" or "slow" results. If the manufacturer has a name brand chrono, he can calibrate his product by shooting through both at the same time. Else, you just need to check that.
That said, I am absolutely flabbergasted at what the Chinese can produce now, at such low cost. Good for the American consumer, but not so good for the American engineer and factory worker. Unfortunately, the American consumer used to be an engineer or factory worker, before they lost their jobs. Quite the conundrum...
If some clever Chinese company would only produce JSB quality pellets at 1/4 the price, they could rule the world :)

How in the heck do they make any profit at these ridiculous prices? I know their labor is dirt cheap, but come on ??? :-\
-
Cyclops Videos Joe W Rhea has several good airgun and scope videos on YouTube.
I am looking forward to trying the little airgun chronograph.

I got one for $20. and also ordered some burst disc, and pressure gauges to have on hand.

I just ordered one, thanks for the tip.
-

Funny you should ask ..... a lot of people think industries make profits (or SHOULD)..... I sell cars for a living, and with competition, offers, specials, truecar (BS), Carvana (BS) etc., my personal take on a sale is often down to $100 on a $35,000 car! And people think I make $1000 per sale! The dealership doesn't even make that sometimes.
The cost on that chrono unit is about $3! add some labor cost, marketing and shipping etc., they make a profit. Just not huge, they depend on multiple sales to make their money.
Remember, it is easier to sell ONE million items for a buck that to sell ONE for a MILLION!
-
Multiply meters per second by 3.28 to get feet per second.
Examples:
200 meters per second times 3.28 equals 656 feet per second.
222 m/s x 3.28 f/m = 728 f/s
250 x 3.28 = 820
-
since i dont really need another one, the lack of FPS is a deal killer for me.
thanks for the heads up though

The above Chinese chronograph was delivered today.
The GOOD:
It works.
It is accurate. Maybe more accurate than my Caldwell which I don't think is very accurate.
It works inside or outside in shade or sun.
It gives a velocity reading every time. My Caldwell gives some errors.
It is very small and portable.
It is inexpensive.
It is rechargeable from a computer USB port. Red means it is charging. Green means it is fully charged.
It has an automatic shut off or you can shut it off with the button.
The BAD:
The instructions are ALL Chinese. The aliexpress.com website above has the only instructions that I can read.
I have not figured out all the things that it does because I don't read Chinese.
It is difficult to connect to some guns that have a front sight. I turned it 90 degrees so the front sight was to the side. The one with the tripod will be better for these guns.
I would not bolt it to a break barrel. If I test a break barrel I will just lay the muzzle in the grove on a piece of felt and not use the screws to bolt it down. The vibration may damage the unit. The tripod one will be better for break barrels.
I think it only reads in meters per second. Multiply by 3.28 to get feet per second.
When I turned it off, it clears out all the information. I don't know if it clears itself when it shuts itself off.
If someone knows how to use this chronograph better, please tell me.

Thanks Earl for the review I am still waiting for mine . IMO this is a very good and inexpensive way to measure the Airgun muzzle speed. It’s simple and I only want to know the fps don’t need the fancy features

Earl, how was it shipped to you ??
USPS final delivery or Fedex ground ?
-
Mine came USPS will report back on it tomorrow for sure :)
-
Mine came USPS and was delivered in my mail box today.
I ordered on 12-5-2018 and it was delivered on 12-22-2018 = 17 days.
Mine is the one that clamps on the barrel of the gun.
Getting the muzzle velocity is easy.
I do not know how to do the other things that it is supposed to do.
There is a way to put in the weight of the pellet and get the energy but I am not interested in the energy.
I would like to be able to tab back thru the shots and get the velocity for each shot and not have to write each one down.
I may figure that out later. I think it is supposed to hold data for 40 shots.
When you get one with the tripod, please tell me how it works.
-
I received mine yesterday(Friday), it is still in the package, have not had time to use it, it is the one with tripod, it came usps..
-
This is the operating procedure for the one that clamps on the barrel.
Turn it on by pressing the button 1 time for 2 seconds.
It runs thru a check and then it is ready for the first shot.
The velocity shows on the display for a few seconds.
Then it is ready for the next shot.
It holds 40 shots in memory.
To review the shots, holding the button 2 seconds goes back to the previous shot number and velocity.
Pressing the button 1 time advances to the next shot number and velocity.
Holding the button down 3 seconds turns it off.
The memory is clear when it is turned back on and it is ready for the first shot again.
I am very happy so far with this little chronograph.
Please note: The one with the tripod may operate differently. Please post it to help others.

That's the same one I got, just came today 19 days from when I ordered it, cost was $24.92 TL w/free shipping.
Seems to work fine in my early testing. Lost a string before I found that to review the shots in memory just takes a quick press of the single button, repeat to see next shot. Memory erased if turned off. Will mess w/it more later, if any more functions are found I'll post them.
-
Mine ( model with tripod) came in on Monday 24th I am very happy to report that the little chronograph is working fine as advertised. It functions the same as the model with the clamp. Make sure that you level your gun as flat as you can when you shoot, and aim closer to the bottom where it has all the sensors to ensure accuracy. Other than that this little meter is excellent I am very satisfied.
Sincerely
-
The model that clamps on the barrel changes the point of impact of of the pellets on the target.
My .177 Gauntlet groups are 1/2 inch lower at 54 feet with the little chronograph clamped on the barrel.
This is both good and bad.
Good that you will not shoot it.
Bad that you cannot keep target shooting while you chronograph.
-
Do y'all that have this chrono in hand- do you think the build quality is such that it could handle the air blast of big bores? "Big bore" meaning 120 fpe- 300 fpe+, anywhere from .243 up to .357? Do y'all think this chrono is accurate enough for tuning? This price is much better than say, a Magnetospeed Sport!
-
I think I paid the leist for mine got it for @22.00 shipped, it is the gun mount version. I do want to test some slug velocities in my Wing Shot... OK I'll be the guinea pig ;) If I can cure this hang over ill try today ;D

The chrony only weighs 6 oz. w/o tripod so as long as it were mounted securely so the blast didn't blow it around it should be fine. The tripod is basically useless- only a few inches tall and too narrow of a base footprint and too flimsy. I don't know why they included it other than to say it had a tripod. Mine is gong on the camera tripod that I used for my C E ProChrono Digital.
-
...so as long as it were mounted securely so the blast didn't blow it around it should be fine.
I was going to ask what threads it had, and whether or not it could go on a normal tripod...
The plan would be to use two tripods- one for the gun and one for the chronograph.
...OK I'll be the guinea pig ;)
That would be amazing!! ;D
-
the clamp on version can be drilled and tapped to fit any tripod mount, the barrel mount is removable.
-
The chrony tripod mount is female 1/4-20 so it's plug and play on my tripod.
-
The chrony tripod mount is female 1/4-20 so it's plug and play on my tripod.
Sweet- 1/4-20 is the standard tripod thread!! I may have to pick one of these up... I'll wait 'til after we hear back from Back_Roads, shooting with his wingshot and slugs! If all goes well, this is a MUCH more economical way to go than the Magnetospeed!

Has anyone compared the results with a second crony? I wonder how accurate it is

Nova Liberty 0.22 at low power setting - HT-X3000 vs Caldwell (1' away) chronograph
-
I think my little Chinese chronograph that clamps on the barrel is more accurate than my Caldwell with the light kit.
The Caldwell with the light kit averages about 2% higher fps than both my Chinese and my Pro Chrono Pal.
The Caldwell is more inconsistent and gives more Error messages(Err2 and Err3).
The Chinese model has given a velocity reading every time.
I have shot about 100 shots thru it with different .177 guns and different pellets and velocities from 472 to 1017 fps.
All this shooting was inside my home. I have not tried the Chinese model outside yet.
I am VERY happy with the little $20 Chinese "clamp on" model!!
I might buy one of the Chinese models with the tripod just for fun.
Yes, I am an old retired engineer and gun nut that likes his toys.
Life is good!

Thank you, i might " splurge" and give it a try, just to compare with the chrony that I already have.

When I set rifles on sand bags, the barrels are 8 or 9 inches above the bench.
Will the little tripods hold the chronograph that high or do I need to set the tripod on a book?

Hi Earl
I have the model with tripod, they (the tripod legs) are about 5-6" long I think you will need to raise the chronograph higher even when you attached it to tripod IMO
Sincerely
-
Thanks to james828 for posting this bargain.
Everyone seems to like the little chronographs.
The sharp edges on the barrel clamp need to be smoothed so your gun barrel finish is not damaged.
This is for the model that clamps on the gun barrel.
I also reamed the bolt holes in the top clamp so barrels with front sights can be turned at 90 degrees.
On some guns with front sights, the top clamp needs to be tilted a lot with the front sight pointed to the side.
On guns that the clamp will not fit on the barrel(Crosman 1377 pistol) you can take the top clamp off and lay the barrel in the bottom grove and shoot.
I think the model with the tripod may be the best buy.
-
i'm still waiting for mine to come in....i ordered it on the 5th like several of you guys that have received them.
hopefully soon..... ???

i believe so, i cant remember what day i got the shipping notice but it was soon after i had paid.
-
That's good, then it probably just got bogged down in the Christmas rush.
I'm liking mine, it's small enough that I can pack it in a range bag plus it's totally tolerant of bad lighting. I can go on the deck in the middle of the night and shoot with it using the outside bug light so I don't accidentally hit it and it records fine.

James, just to make sure before I order one, you tested the clamp on model or the tripod model? Just want to make sure. The air blast from my Condor is almost like the big bore rifles with it cranked up and a new hiflo valve in it. Would hate to blow the little thing apart on its first time.
Allan

Clamp on version, I had to clamp it upside down to clear the fill probe, other than that was flawless.

I'm liking mine, it's small enough that I can pack it in a range bag plus it's totally tolerant of bad lighting. I can go on the deck in the middle of the night and shoot with it using the outside bug light so I don't accidentally hit it and it records fine.
mine showed up today, i'm not going to use the tripod and attach the
device to a 4x6 wood block so i dont have to worry about my big bores launching it into orbit :o !!!!
going to review it tomorrow if the rain takes a break.
-
I have shot through mine a few times. Pita to have to convert each shot. But it is fairly accurate.
-
Clamp on version, I had to clamp it upside down to clear the fill probe, other than that was flawless.
Thank you, I think I will give one a try.

I have one of these that clamps to the barrel. It is super easy to use and I built a simple Excel spreadsheet that automatically does the conversion from MPS to FPS when I enter the speed, however, I'm not so sure it's accurate. For example, shooting .177 cal 8.49 grain H&N Sniper Mediums from my ATI Liberty shows an average 1065 FPS on my Magnetospeed chrony and I get an average of 1030 FPS from this bolt on Chinese Chrony. But, these were not done on the same day, so there may have been some variables that impacted the results. Once the weather clears a bit, I may try some back to back tests with both and see if the results are closer. Convenience and price wise, the little Chinese chrony definitely has the others beat hands down!
-
Not that much of a variance, and way better than guessing by shooting a phone book IMO
-

LOL! Very true and for under $30, you really can't go wrong! It's so small and easy to use, since I made a spreadsheet to convert to FPS, I have been using this one more than my more expensive chrony when tuning. It may not be dead-on accurate, but it does give me a good reading on the bell and shows me where I'm at when tuning a regulator. They are definitely worth the money! I'm using the standard formula of FPS=(MPS*3.28084). I'm sure I could tweak the multiplier and get the reading closer to what my Magnetospeed is showing, but for my purposes, it's good enough. Quite honestly, I really don't know if the Magnetospeed is accurate either... :o
-
I have been wanting to get a chronograph so I can start tuning my guns. So you guys think it is good enough to use for tuning a gun? I would eventually buy a better one but with the holidays etc I need to keep spending in check for a bit.
-
an example of my testing this china speed meter with my caldwell and my alpha chrony.
the speed meter averages about 9fps slower than the caldwell and 2 fps faster than the alpha....which brings up what Pault28 brought up earlier......
which is most accurate ?? who knows ::)
this is what my newest project air rifle did.....
Benjamin bulldog with chopped 24" barrel and some porting work from what i'm told.
performed after calculation,...905fps with 81 gr polymags.
not too shabby, but was told it was avg 850fps with 125gr bullets.
all 3 chronies showed between 720-729fps.
so take it for what its worth.....$29 well spend for a chinaspeedmeter thats very portable and works well 8)

Well I purchased one of these Chinese meters as well and it arrived a few days ago. I have not had much time to test it but I decided to try and translate the Chinese user manual. With some help from Google translate and adding in some text after playing a bit with my meter I now have a pretty good translation. Who knew it can apparently calculate energy as well as speed? I will attach it here but if anyone wants the manual and cannot get it here just send me a PM with your email address and I'll send it to you.
-
WOW !!!
thanks very much for that translation !!! 8)

Yes you helped all of us here on GTA, and I think you really helped the Chinese. (Bet their sales just jumped)
Have one on order....
-
Big help, Doug- thank you!
-
THANK YOU DOUG (Lonewolf54) FOR THE TRANSLATION!!!
That helps us a lot!
You might want to offer it to your supplier and ask them for a free chronograph.
-
Thank you Doug! I had contacted the seller I got mine from and asked if he had the manual in English. He responded within a day saying he'd look and see. Haven't heard a word from him since, so I'm guessing he didn't.... But, now we do! Thanks again!

Sure beats the repeated button pushes it would take to crack the codes ;)

Sure beats the repeated button pushes it would take to crack the codes ;)
Took me a while to first make an exact translation and then figure out exactly what the verbatim translation meant. Not to mention the steps they leave out. So after I would figure out how each step actually worked by pushing buttons, I rewrote the step to try and make it more understandable. Hope it works for all of you. It can be tricky if you don't push those buttons at the right time or you hold it too long. I did eventually get everything to work on mine.
-
You did good Doug!
-
Thanks Doug for the manual ! So glad you can help other members Beautiful job sir !
Sincerely
-
Yes very much appreciated, I save it to the cloud, so now no matter what device I am using, I will never be able to find it :D
-
Glad to help out as I have gotten quite a bit of help from others on this forum. Just glad I could contribute.

The GTA is a good place to get information about airguns, but it's great to give something back.
I'm hoping that will happen to me someday.
-
Here's a MPS to FPS conversion spreadsheet I made to ease data conversion for these cronies. The shaded areas can be edited, so you can change the information in these areas, but the formulas are protected to prevent accidental deletion of the formulas. I hope some find it useful, I know i do...

How do I get the speed to display more than 5 seconds after each shot on the clamp-on model?
I usually write down the meters per second with each shot.
5 seconds is not enough time for me. I am old and slow.
15 seconds would be good.
My Caldwell and ProChrono Pal display the speed until the next shot is fired.
It would also be nice if the automatic shut down time was 20 minutes instead of 3.25 minutes.
Can I disable the automatic shut down on the clamp-on model?
-
Page 7 of Doug's instructions shows that. I think the maximum is 10 seconds....
-
Page 7 of Doug's instructions shows that. I think the maximum is 10 seconds....
I think his instructions are for the tripod model.
I tried to put 10 in the clamp-on model and I think it was the weight of the pellet because it displayed the speed then another number which I assumed was joules.
-
I do have the tripod model but I thought the instructions were the same. To change the display time is tricky. Max is 10 seconds. You need to push the function key after you turn on the unit right after the count up and 999.9 shows on the display but before the -SU. Timing is critical as if you wait too long and the -SU shows before you push the button, you will end up in the weight setting setup. If this happens, you must shutdown the unit and then turn it back on to start the count again and get to the 999.9. It took me a while to figure this out but I finally figured it out and have been able to change the display time both faster and slower than the default. Unfortunately, on it is shutdown it goes back to the default of 5 sec. It does save the data up to 40 records so you can go back and look at the numbers after you have shot as long as you don't shut it off.

I think my clamp-on model is 3.25 minutes to shut-down, which is too fast for me.
I will gladly mail my Chinese Manual to you if you want it.
-
I will gladly mail my Chinese Manual to you if you want it.
The biggest problem I have is that I don't have the unit to play with. The chinese manuals love to skip steps and can be hard to understand when using the translation verbatim. It's more like it gives you clues but you have to figure out the clues to find how it really works. It's like a puzzle. Without the unit, you would get the word for word translation and you would have to work out the puzzle yourself if you can.
By the way, I don't think the tripod models have the auto off "feature" so I have not had to deal with it.
-
Ordered mine (tripod model) Dec. 11th, it arrived yesterday, I just went and picked it up from the PO this morning. A quick 3 shots shows my Trail NP2 in .177 shooting 10.5 gr CPDs at ~800 FPS, which seems about right to me, although I've never chronied it before.
I always wanted a chrony but couldn't bring myself to shell out the dough for one, so this is perfect! Thanks to Jimmy for the original post and to Doug for all the helpful documents!

Well, Earl sent me his Chinese manual for the clamp-on model and it is very similar to the tripod model. It does not mention any auto shutdown and the basic difference is it tells how to properly clamp the unit to your gun (has two photos at the end which the tripod model does not need). I'll attach it here for anyone who wants to look at it.
-
My clamp-on model has an automatic shut off.
If I just turn the chronograph on and do not shoot thru it, then it shuts down in 3 minutes and 20 seconds.
If I shoot thru it and it stores velocity information in memory, then it will stay on for 15 minutes, then it will shut itself down and the shooting velocities will be cleared from memory when it is turned back on.
My clamp-on model has this on top:
Chinese words
Model : jiajukuan
Charger: 4.2v
Range : 1-999m/s
Chinese words : 2015301472698
My opinion:
The clamp-on model is a bargain at $22.
The tripod model is a better bargain at $29.
I like the idea of setting the tripod model on the bench 2 or 3 inches from the muzzle and using it while I am target shooting with sand bags. Yes, I understand that at some point I may shoot the chronograph.
My Gauntlet and Marauder shoot 1/2 inch lower at 18 yards when the clamp-on model is on the barrel.
-
Just ordered one today got it for $27.05 with a $2 off coupon for a returning customer, big Thanks to Doug for the manual
-
I am liking the clamp on version for my Sam Yang big bores. I clamp it upside down and it is out of the way of the scope. Just shoot away, standing off hand or whatever, then toggle through and note the speeds.
I will be testing some tin bullets, will see if the sensors can deal with the shine of the tin. 8)
-
I really like this speed meter. It is accurate and the setup is easy for any airgun. No more light issue which is a big problem for the Caldwell chronograph. I can use this anywhere usually in the garage with the typical lighting in the room and no error. Awesome.
-
I think the clamp-on model is accurate to within 1 meter per second.
I wish it measured in feet per second but multiplying by 3.28 is easy.
-
I don't think my tripod model is accurate. I'll post data later (I'm travelling now) but it shows my "magnum" .177 springers shooting at only about 13 FPE, and my Hatsan 125 at 22 or 25 FPE depending on the pellet. The Hatsan was measured by the previous owner (Rui here on GTA) at around 30 FPE using the same pellets.
I also measured a supersonic shot at only about 1030 fps at around 50 degrees temperature, so that clearly isn't right either.
I do think the precision is pretty good, but accuracy seems to be lacking.
-
My tripod model seem to be ok with accuracy i measured all my guns indoor under lighting condition, this meter doesn't need ambience light, here are the reading from my airguns

I have a lightly used Shadow 1000 I bought about 2003, it does 875 fps with 7.9 gr. CPHP so it and your Shadow are on the same page.
-
So I did a bunch more testing today. I’m not gonna share the spreadsheet (PM me if you’re a super-nerd and would like to see it), but these were my conclusions:
-Speeds seemed to be higher today. The day is more overcast, although I was shooting from the shade before. I’ll have to test this variable more in the future.
-As a reference I shot a string of 5 CCI Quiet 22LR rounds from two different rifles. These are advertised at 710 FPS and I measured them at an average of 714 FPS and 718 FPS with about 3% CV, so I think the accuracy of this chrony is pretty darn good, at least today.
-The three .177 springers I tested all showed lower FPE with 10.5 gr CPDs versus 7.8 gr CPHPs; 0.5 FPE, 0.8 FPE, and 1.25 FPE for Gamo, NP2, and Winchester respectively (see my sig for more details on the rifles). FPEs with 7.8 gr CPHPs were 13.0, 15.6, and 14.5.
-My “30 FPE” Hatsan 125 was shooting about 28 FPE with Benjamin 14.3 gr HPs and 14.3 gr CPDs, closer to what I expected. It only shot about 25 FPE with H&N Barracuda Match 21.14 gr. CV was actually a tiny bit higher too, which surprised me and goes against my results from the last test.
-I can test velocity and aim at the same time! Another person mentioned this, and I tried today, and although I wasn’t shooting for groups I was able to use scopes and open sites to aim. As the other poster also mentioned, this will likely result in me shooting the chrono at some point, but based on today’s results I’m strongly considering buying another pre-emptively, as I’m pretty happy so far.
-
They just raised the price up to $39.79 !!!
-
Wow that is quite a jump in price I guess we were buying to many of them. I got my muzzle mount one in today and I just really want to say thanks to Doug for the translated instructions which made it a breeze to use and to Paul for the spread sheet which makes it super easy to translate MPS to FPS. It seems to work great, I had no problems getting it going and recording the info off of it. Thanks everyone!
Edit: I found the tripod model for $29 still https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32955979809.html?pid=808_0000_0101&spm=a2g0n.search-amp.list.32955979809&aff_trace_key=&aff_platform=msite&m_page_id=129amp-HkzI61mE5rcRudTvM21mSw1547170371309 (https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32955979809.html?pid=808_0000_0101&spm=a2g0n.search-amp.list.32955979809&aff_trace_key=&aff_platform=msite&m_page_id=129amp-HkzI61mE5rcRudTvM21mSw1547170371309)

My Shadow has about 10K shots and still accurate with original spring , but my 220 is really slow I need to change out the spring, so the meter from china is working and accuracy seems to be ok .

I agree accuracy seems okay. I have compared several guns that had been previously measured using a CE Pro Digital and there's no more variation between the Chinese tripod meter and the CE that what I've see between different sessions using the CE.
I noticed when I was first testing it out using a Daisy Red Ryder that if I shot too close to the first sensor, the reading was very low. Could be because there's some oil mist from it. As long as I keep the muzzle back, it's fine. I've taken to shooting about a foot behind it just to be sure.
-
Here's a little table I made that you can save on your phone or print. For in-between numbers multiply the remainder by 3 for a very close approximation. For example, if you get a reading of 255 MPS, the table shows 250 MPS = 820 FPS + (5 x 3) = 835 FPS, which is very close to the actual value of 836.6 FPS.
-
I just realized most airgunners will find a table that goes below 500 FPS more useful than one that goes above 1100 FPS. Updated version attached.
-
I finally bought one and I can just thank everyone here for this fantastic opportunity to move from the water filled food tin device to a more considerable method. I had tried some Android apps, too, but adjusting them to the environment noise revealed tricky.
Now I'm getting used to it - I've got the barrel clamped one but I don't use the clamping device, and I found the modest rifles and pistols I own are not as powerful as I thought...
For example, with .177 CPHP pellets :
> Crosman 1377 10 pumps (stock version:) : 508.5 FPS
> Crosman 2100 12 pumps : 643 FPS
> Artemis LR 700W (aka Seneca Dragonfly) 8 pumps : 692 FPS
> Airstrike (Webley Rebel) 10 pumps : 669 FPS
And two surprises in opposite ways :
> with 6.94 gr pellets, I couldn't get more than 361 fps from my Beeman P17. Doesn't seem to leak, though.
> but with 8.80 gr pellets, my Crosman Vantage NP delivered a pleasant 863 fps, which provides 14.47 FPE what is more than powerful enough for me.
So, yes, I'm having fun. Thanks again ;)
-
The metal burrs needed to be smoothed off the edges of my top clamp to keep it from scratching the gun barrel.
-
I put some common black electric tape on it to prevent any scratches, even if I don't actually "clamp" my barrel .

Looks like your guns are shooting in their ranges, one thing to check is cycle to cycle consistency.
My suprise is when I see a low MPS reading :-[ then convert it to FPS :o
-
Am I the only dummy that didn't realize the tripod legs extend a few more inches? I just realized it when looking at the product page again. Doh!
-
Well, all the good reports from this thread made me do it. I bought one. It's much cheaper than my initial plan of getting a Magnetospeed... So thank you! Y'all are a bunch of enablers! ;D
-
Buy these for general use, if you need to advance save up for a Lab Radar ;)
-
For those trying to get energy readings, make sure you are converting your projectile weight from grains to grams. I believe the conversion from grains to grams is 1 grain = .0648 grams. In some cases in the manual it only shows the weight as (g) but in others the translator specifically said grams. I would think this would make quite a difference in the readings. This is just a FYI as I had to look up this conversion myself.
-
Buy these for general use, if you need to advance save up for a Lab Radar ;)
I don't think I'll ever NEED a Lab Radar... Even a Magnetospeed is too much, if I'm being honest. I just need a Chronograph that can be used inside or outside without the need for separate lights, or be finiky because of sunlight and such. I LOVE my Combro for ease of use, but it's not large enough for .30 cal on up. I also am not sure I could even use the Combro w/a .25 slug shooter. This is a MUCH cheaper (and accurate enough) solution than even the Combro. If it can handle the blast from a Wingshot, I'm sure it'll handle anything I can throw at it.

Bullet energy calculator:
http://www.ballistics101.com/muzzle_energy_calc.php (http://www.ballistics101.com/muzzle_energy_calc.php)
The formula is E = (M x V²) ÷ 450,435
The energy of an 8.44 grain pellet at 900 fps = 8.44 x 900 x 900 / 450,435 = 15.2 foot pounds
The energy of a 7.33 grain pellet at 496 fps = 7.33 x 496 x 496 / 450,435 = 4.0 foot pounds

I just ordered another. When I'm feeling particularly bored and overconfident I may just do some ballistic coeffecient testing :D
-
You are brave, I was thinking of doing that , but using my full size crono at the far end . . .
-
I'd definitely need a blast shield for the second unit! lol
-
Make it more fun , mount it behind a field target target !

I just received my AliExpress chrony yesterday. It took 17 days to arrive. This is the one I ordered:
https://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/0.html?spm=a2g0s.9042647.0.0.74224c4doQdAiJ&orderId=97504425266196&productId=32954736508 (https://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/0.html?spm=a2g0s.9042647.0.0.74224c4doQdAiJ&orderId=97504425266196&productId=32954736508)
I have not tested it yet, but it does turn on, it takes a charge, and the manual is 100% Chinese. :o
BTW, my main reason for ordering was to have a backup to my ProChrono which has a really hard time getting readings on gloomy Central New York days (and also on bright days when there is snow on the ground).

Good luck with that! I blew the sky screens off my Pro 3 times trying to record my wingshot. It was too sunny out to test with out them. This little unit Needs Velcro on the bottom to keep it on the table. But for $25 it does work pretty well.
-
Buy these for general use, if you need to advance save up for a Lab Radar ;)
I don't think I'll ever NEED a Lab Radar... Even a Magnetospeed is too much, if I'm being honest. I just need a Chronograph that can be used inside or outside without the need for separate lights, or be finiky because of sunlight and such. But the unit survived the shots from the wingshot, right?
My plan is to mount the Chrony on a camera tripod (old, heavy Manfroto), and mount whatever airgun I'm tuning to another Manfroto tripod. I was planning on weighing down the tripod w/the Chrony. I'm sure that would be fine, yeah?

" I have not tested it yet, but it does turn on, it takes a charge, and the manual is 100% Chinese. "
Would you photograph the manual and send it to me? I know someone who might be able to read it.

Doug(Lonewolf54) translated the Chinese Manuals to English and posted them here.
For the tripod model see Reply#55 on Page 3.
For the clamp-on model see Reply#78 on Page 4.

OK, for all of those who are still trying to figure out exactly how these speed meters are suppose to work even after reading my manual translation, I have a revised edition now available. I knew that the timing of holding the function button was at times a key to certain settings, I never saw too much about it my original translation. Well thanks to Earl sending me a copy of a translation he received (I assume from his vendor) I now understand the significance and have edited my manual to reflect this. Attached below are the revised editions so you don't have to go back and find the original posts even though I will update them as well. I hope this helps others as well as it helped me. Thanks Earl!!
-
Wow, thanks for taking the time to do this and share it with us Doug!
;D
-
Doug. Thanks for the translation. It was the thing that finally tempted me into joining gta.
This bargain gate is a dangerous thing.
Here is an obvious tip that may have already been shared... I used two layers of heat shrink tubing on the U-clamp to reduce the stress on the shroud and give it some grip.
Thanks again.

I used some small diameter rubber air tubing on the U clamp, but I did it more to protect the barrel or shroud from being scratched.
-
You did good Doug!
The rubber tubing idea sounds good.
I smoothed the sharp edges on the clamp.
I clamp the unit with the display 90 degrees to the left(at 9 o'clock) so the display does not shine into the scope.
I shoot at targets with the chrono clamped to the gun, but it changes the point of impact.
-
I finally had the opportunity to compare velocities between my Prochrono and the AliExpress and they were spot-on. I was getting 950 to 960 fps over the Prochrono and 290 to 293 mps over the "Alichrono". I can't ask for anything better than that! Next up will be to shoot through it from inside my shed. This is where the lighting was giving my Prochrono fits.

Can't complain with that!
I took mine out 2 nights ago and shot through it at 10 pm without any lights except the porch light 40' away and a full moon. Worked fine.
-
Well fellows I received my speed meter in just 16 days finally got a chance to try it out today I was a little disappointed, I set it up in front of my blue chrony and there was a difference of 19 to 41fps I'll be trying it again when I can set it up a little differently but I thought shooting thru it first would be better maybe not what do you all think.
Thanks Terry
-
Were the speeds off by the same amount on both chronos on each shot?
-
No Sir my chrony was consistent in the 920ish fps and the speed meter was any where from 19 to 41fps off and not consistent in the difference it was showing if that makes sense I can post the speeds if that will help :(
-
Mine showed low fps if I shot through it with the muzzle too close.
-
I was wondering about that I'll try again and see what happens Thanks for the info, update I shot my P15 25 thru it and it's doing better my bad I didn't measure the distance but the first 3 shots less than 10fps difference shooting through it and then going straight thru my chrony moved back 11 inches from it an 21-22fps difference moved in to 1.5-3 inches per instructions 14-15fps difference so I can live with for a $27 chrony ;)
-
Well, I broke down and bought the tripod version today. I've never had a crony before but wanted it to check the Mod 48 I've had for close to 30 years. Want to see if it's performing like a stock standard m48 should. Thank you to all who have wrote programs to do conversions and translated the chinese manual.
-
If some clever Chinese company would only produce JSB quality pellets at 1/4 the price, they could rule the world :)
I believe some Chinese individuals produced swaging molds for custom pellets and it's probably getting close to JSB quality already. Just not at 1/4 price haha
-
FYI - if you're shooting through the table-top version of the AliExpress chrony you'll find that the sensor will likely be blocking your view through your scope. I have found that a basic tripod with a head that can angle 90-degrees worked great with it!
It's quite a treat to be able to use the chrony in dim lighting conditions!

I shoot with the clamp-on model turned to the side like that but it changes the POI of my Marauder and Gauntlet down 0.5" at 54 feet.
-
I've been watching this topic for awhile to see if everyone that bought one of these chronys was happy with it. Looks like it does what it says and reads in most any lighting condition which is really important to me. I always get several errors when using my Alpha Chrony indoors so I just took the plunge and ordered the barrel clamp model for $19.09 shipped. You guys have been a bad influence again!
-
I'll continue using my F1 ;D
-
Just got a email telling me that my tripod speed meter had shipped and to expect it in 35 days. WTH, I guess it's on a slow boat from china. lol
-
I might order one soon!
-
Has anyone shot one yet ???
-
I ordered one 28 December, estimated delivery date is 16 February. It will get here I am sure...
-
Shipping must have really slowed for some reason. It did take a while tho. I ordered I think was 12/30 and it arrived in my mailbox on 1/18.
Mine seems to work pretty good. Tested it a day or two after it came in and had no errors during the tests and seem to be in the same ballpark as my Caldwells.
-
Doug, congratulations for the patience and accomplishment, and thank you very much for sharing.

Just a heads-up that yesterday I received the most authentic scam email I think I've ever seen! It claimed to be sent from Ali Express, and indicated that payment for my recent purchase of a tripod chrony (2nd. one, gift for a friend) had not been finalized and the order was cancelled. There were various links throughout the email including the obligatory link to reorder, presumably asking for CC info, etc. The senders address was disguised pretty cleverly to look like it originated from Ali Express, and had I not been paying attention I might have clicked on something in the email to see what was going on. That surely would have injected (or attempted to, anyway) spy/mal/whatever ware into my 'puter. Instead, I deleted it w/o opening anything then logged on to Ali express and checked my order status there. All was fine.
So just be careful is all.
-
I want to thank everyone in this thread.
I just started using my $30 chrony and it's great.
Smaller than anticipated, but large enough for my use. At $30 I can afford to shoot quite few of them.
Works great in my basement which had LED lights. I was not sure it would.
For anyone on the fence, Buy It!
-
I have not received mine as yet. And, thank you Mark for posting that scam alert. Will watch for something like that especially since i have been waiting such a time....
-
I wonder if "Ali express" is the same as the old "Ali baba"
I just can't recall what he was famous for

Yep, I looked it up.
AliExpress is owned by Alibaba.
It's like Ebay since it just advertises to consumers from private business.
Any seller to any buyer.
-
Got an email from Aliexpress a couple days ago saying my speed meter has shipped. Looking forward to trying it out and seeing how consistent it is..
-
I got the same Email on the 5 of Feb. No package yet.
-
I just saw the same one on Amazon for $30.
Search for muzzle speed meter.
I did not find the American version.

I was looking at the Ali Express store where I bought my tripod chrony and happened to see a more traditional looking chrony with a 20 shot memory, averaging, and reads m/s and fps for $51.22. Might be cheaper somewhere else. I like the fact that it has its own light source.
-
Did you notice that it already has a LED light bar on it?
-
Have one of tripod ver on the way. The original link from THR shows a price of about $42 now but with careful comparison I found same unit with 6 leds top and bottom, front & back for a total of 24 I believe, for bout $28.00 Just a heads up.
And I finally got my download privileges and grabbed the PDF that Doug was so kind to share..
Kudos for that Doug..
Now the waiting game.. lol
Many thanks
X/BillyD..

That's awesome for one with a light source too. Everyone can have a chrony now.
-
Well after 8 pages of constant harassment & torture, I'm in too. $23.00 includes shipping. Not sure of the exact model number, they all look similar, but it is a clamp on. Now all we have to do is learn to read Chinese.

While I would normally agree with you, you will be dealing with an Amazon vendor and if you check, the vendor is shipping from China anyways and only has a 71% positive rating. Something to think about anyways.
-
I'll let you know how well the cheap one works when I get it. I think $19.95 & 3.50 shipping., but they had a 4+ star rating & 145 sold. I like those odds. May be summer befors it arrives, who knows.
-
Got my speed meter in the mail on fri. Came in a box within a plastic bag. Box was smashed a bit on the corner but the meter was wrapped in bubble wrap so it was safe. Was exactly as described on Aliexpress and I shot a couple pellets from my Marauder through it and it looks to be pretty darn close to my other chrono. Pictures of what came with it and the reading after test shot.
-
It's been mentioned somewhere before but with the clamped one, you get higher velocities shooting a few inches away from the chrony ; barrel unclamped, of course. Can't fancy why.
-
I received mine and I'm just resting the muzzle on the open clamp. My objective are only the speed measurements.
Worried to have proper horizontal alignment and 'reasonable' leveling, the 'E' (ERROR) occurred sometimes due the wrong position mentioned at the end of the manual (air flow..). Once you learn how to deal with the 3 variables, it seemed fine.
Just to let you know, I did some math and I am presuming that a wrong leveling within +- 10 degrees would cause less than 2% of error.
In general, the results are being plenty compatible with my past measurements in other brands/models.
Let's see about the lifespan.
-

I think it has something to do with the air blast being too close to the sensors.
-
Well mine finally arrived on the slow boat from China. Haven't had a chance to try yet as I'm having to repair the drip system AGAIN! 83 trees and the repairs never seem to stop, lol!
-
Well, mine came in today! Clamp on from AliExpress ... shipped at $21.50! Actually in a little over two weeks - not too shabby.
Looks cheap, parts a little crooked, display is skewed, so I shot a 10 round mag through ..... WOW, ;D it works AND it's fairly accurate. On days like today (high 18 degrees, with some wind) I cannot set up for chrono work, so this does great job - and it's dark out!
Many thanks to Doug (lonewolf54) for the translation - mine had NO instructions at all ... And thanks Paul (PaulT58) for the nice worksheet to make things quick and easy!
Cheers

Ready to laugh ? I've just joined a famous club...
Went outside this afternoon and began checking my airguns' speed consistency. Amazing with a Crosman Vantage NP (.177) with 4 shots at 266 m/s and 2 at 265. Tried with my Beeman P17 and found unpleasant dispersion (111, 113, 109 , 102)... now it's time to do something. Checked the faithful Crosman 2100 at 4 pumps : 153, 150, 150, 150. Ok, now let's try the Webley Rebel clone, 4 pumps too : 157m/s, 154...and nothing to read but hey, that shot was a bit noisy. So I kept shooting 4 other pellets, NO MORE RESULTS, not even the famous "err". But isn't here something missing in the "speedometer" ?... WHOAAA!!! :o >:( :-[ :-X
I just ordered a new one. 8)
-
What, did you accidentally shoot the chrony?
-
Though I plead guilty, I'll still remain silent >:(
-
lol Well, I'm in good company then. Mine still works fine, though. Miracle considering the BB actually hit the IR emitter hard enough to do what's shown below...

You really dodged a bulBB. By "still works fine", I assume you mean that even straight-on shots, just left of center, still register fine. If so, that makes me think that the emitters are not finely/tightly focused; but, instead, each emitter/receiver pair might be frequency-unique. Or, are the emitters all same freq, but wide-dispersal (like typical remote controls), laying down a continuous "beam-curtain", but the receivers are tightly focused (and being recessed) to allow detection of a "crossing". Hmm, might have to experiment (non-destructively, I hope).
Every picture tells a story; mine is attached. Note, that isn't glare--.jpg name tells it all.
-
I would say the emitters are same and give a curtain effect, but that's a guess.
I'll see your skid mark and call!

Bullet energy calculator:
The formula is E = (M x V²) ÷ 450,435
The energy of an 8.44 grain pellet at 900 fps = 8.44 x 900 x 900 / 450,435 = 15.2 foot pounds
The energy of a 7.33 grain pellet at 496 fps = 7.33 x 496 x 496 / 450,435 = 4.0 foot pounds
I think maybe there is an error in your formula? - I'm pretty sure the divisor is 450,240
If it helps using the equation below can convert the m/s readings directly into ft/lbs...
speed in m/s² x pellet weight in grammes ÷ 2710.5 = ft/lbs
Note: pellet weight is in grammes which most scales measure and decent brands of pellet put on their tins.
BTW I just received mine and testing yesterday with a Crosman 760 and a Chrony F1 got the same results from 270fps to 750fps
And lastly another big thank you to Doug for that translation - you're a 🌟
-
The formula I use in my spreadsheet is: Energy = (Average Feet Per Second)2 X (Pellet Weight in Grams )/ 450240, so I believe Td is correct with the 450,240 divisor.
=(M4)^2*(G4)/450240 in the spreadsheet...

For that formula the pellet weight needs to be in grains ;)
For clarity...
Using imperial units : speed in FPS ² x pellet weight in grains ÷ 450,240 = ft/lbs energy
Using metric units : speed in m/s ² x pellet weight in grammes ÷ 2710.5 = ft/lbs energy

I like it better for airguns than my Caldwell Kit with lights and a tripod.

Nice. I was working on my Condor .22 today which also likes the JSB 18.1 (what gun doesn't?). After I put it back together I was checking to make sure I put everything back the right way, including the power wheel to make sure the hammer spring compresses. So I go to the Chrono take the 1st shot and get a supersonic crack. Still suppressed, but much louder than usual. I am thinking I messed something up.. I looked at the Chrono and it read 1,147fps! What the hey? I forgot to bring the power wheel back to 0 from 8. That was a relief :)

Ugh, I'm starting to get a little annoyed. I ordered one of these on 2/21, and it's been shipped, but according to the tracking it hasn't even left China yet. No tracking updates since 2/24.
-
My tracking worked the same way. It'll probably be delivered Monday without warning like mine was.

Ah, okay, thanks truck. That makes me feel better.
-
When I order from China , I just forget about it , then when I totally forgot that I ordered anything , it shows up ;D
-
Got mine a week ago & have only had time to put a dozen or so pellets through it.
Light, compact, exactly as pictured. Didn't miss a single shot. For what I do & need, this is perfect. Ground a few rough edges from the top peice that is stamped. Covered inside of clamping area with thin foam tape, to protect barrels. Looking for some longer bolts to accommodate LCDs, not crazy about the "U" Clamp. No biggie.
All in all, I'm totally satisfied so far, and this little box should be in every "home tuners kit" as a starter, or back up. I wish I had it 2 years ago, would have saved me a lot of frustration.... = err =... = err =...
Only time will tell how well it holds up, but for the price of a movie ticket & popcorn, it's very entertaining! Gets my thumbs up.
-
.....Said what the heck, I'm all in, and ordered one today, with $5 off I might add, for a total of $24.91.
Just like the idea I can use it "rain or shine" and not have to worry if there is enough light. My Caldwell will be my benchmark as it's what I have......Postings will be in order.
-
Handy little gadgets, They should include one with in a package deal, much more needed than the cheap scope IMO.
-
I ordered one in December and never did get it but did get a refund. Ordered again from :https://www.ebay.com/itm/Shooting-Speed-Tester-16-37mm-Muzzle-Velocity-Meter-Velocimetry-Measuring-Tool/113642253010?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
On ebay. Received it in a week, $27....
Received it today and shot a few rifles through it. It started to make a rattle and quit. Removed the top and found the battery came loose from the wire tie that secures it. In doing so the black negative wire broke away from the solder joint. Repaired it and secured the tie with hot glue so the battery would not slide loose again, I hope.
It is a nice little speed tester. I have a chrony, this will be easier to get out and use quickly.

LOL, I did exactly that. When Frank posted the pictures, I went to order from Amazon, it told me that I had already ordered one. USPS says it will be here Monday.
Thanks Back_Roads, at least I know that I'm not the only one.

I pulled the trigger for the one on the tripod from Alibaaba, ordered it March 04th. it came in today. Package was a little deformed, but nothing inside busted, cracked or any other form of damage to it. Just got it unpacked and charging it right now. After that I will give it a try. This is my first chronograph, so no idea about it, but I will follow all the tips and instructions that was given here in this tread, by the way very very good info and tips. And a big thank you for the poster that pointed us in this direction for it. And also a big thank you for the fellow airgunners that did the translation and all that wonderful programs and spreadsheets.
-
WOW didn't know that this thread was read 6443 times and have 10 pages . So glad that everyone are happy with the little inexpensive chrono and big thanks to all members contributed to this post. Mine still works like a charm !
Happy shooting

Thank you Jimmy. Good call.

Nice. I ordered mine on Feb 22 and still haven't seen anything. The seller assures me that it is on the way. Tracking is terrible, shows it hasn't even left China yet.
-
I ordered via Amazon. I get updates on order placed, left factory, arrived at ship facilities, arrived at Los Angeles, left Los Angeles, out for delivery, etc. It still takes three weeks because no aircraft are used. Perhaps because of the internal lipoly battery.
-
I about decided that I would use the speed tester mostly with the U Bolt. So I covered it with shrink tubing and made a metal re-enforcement to go under the fiber mounting board so when clamped down would not tend to bend and break over time. Also cut a piece of one inch conduit for a shim. One and a half inch long to go under the U Bolt when needed.....
-
Hey, Damon. Don't pay any attention to the tracking info. It has showed since 4 days after my order that it was processed through the Facility over there, and after that no change on it, not even the day of delivery, it just showed up here at my door with USPS.
So I ordered mine March the 4. and it arrived March the 23. that was 19 days from China to get here.
-
Thanks. I found another website to track, and it estimated that it would arrive at the post office here between 3/27 - 4/1. So I'll be patient for a bit. Just hope it arrives before I leave on vacation for a week, the 2nd week of April.
-
I wish you all the luck on that one, that I will arrive before you vacation.
It is a nice little nifty chronograph, in fact so tiny, you got to be very careful when you shoot through it, not to hit it. LOL
So what I do, I aim through my present sights of the gun im cronographing not to hit it, whatever is mounted on it, Red dot, open sights or scope. And it works pretty good.
Here is a 10 shoot string with my Red Ryder shoot 10 Daisy Premium Zinc 5.1 grains and presented with the Spreadsheet Conversion.
Pellet Wt Shot 1 Shot2 Shot 3 Shot 4 Shot 5 Shot 6 Shot 7 Shot 8 Shot 9 Shot 10 Avg FPS FPE

That's what it recorded, and I put it in the spreadsheet, that is available in this tread some earlier in here and I works just perfect.
Thanks again for the creator of this little gimmick.

My Tripod one is supposed to get here on Wednesday, although it's already in my state, so tomorrow is possible too. Going to be testing my slightly modded 1322, my wife's stock 1322, and my slightly modded P17. My 1322 is the one I'm the most curious about. The TP is slightly misaligned, but it seems to seal just fine. I have an alchemy boss buddy transfer port in my parts drawer, but I'm only going to mess with it if the FPS comes in low.
-
My unit arrived today, one day ahead of schedule.
I will check it out when I get home tomorrow.
-
Mine took a hard ricochet today - cracked the black plastic, but it still works!
-
So, they work just like any other chronograph?
-
They read in meters/sec, so you have multiply the number by 3.28 to get fps. It stores the readings in memory until you shut it off. It doesn't do any calculations like FPE, ES, or anything like that.
-
Somewhere in this post there is a translation to the instructions.
-
Thanks. I have downloaded the translation. I hope that the one that I have will be the same. It looks the same, but I ordered from Amazon, not alibaba.
-
It doesn't do any calculations like FPE, ES, or anything like that.
I beg to differ. See translation of page 6 of the manual for kinetic energy readings.
-
I came home today and started looking at the muzzle velocity meter, my wife was a bit curious about it. I explained what it did.
"Oh , how nice." Then I handed her the instructions, I said " look honey, it even comes with instructions!"
ROFL.
-

I stand corrected. I just found your translation on page 3 of this thread, thanks for doing that!

Well, I shot the S*** out of mine. lol Just finished installing the vortec kit into my old Model 48. Went to test it's velocity and like a dummy used the sights to align it up. Pellet hit about a pellets width below the bottom front edge and it ripped the plastic cover back and sent the red lens (?) flying. Going to see If I can put it back together.

Well whats the worst that can happen? You have to spend another $30 for a new one! ;)

LOL
Well, I checked it a little closer and it took out some of either to LEDs or what ever the bottom "bulbs?" are. The pellet just plain ripped right thru. I'm thinking of buying this one to replace it.

Did it get the battery as well?

I had looked at them might have been another seller, but the measurements they gave = somewhere about 8 inches long by 4 wide IIR, so they are a little bigger, but not much.
-
Did it get the battery as well?
no it didn't. I did some more testing and denr if it still works. Lol
-
Then your rifle needs more power!
-
Then your rifle needs more power!
LOL! I don't need to have to buy another crono! lol
-
All this damage could be eliminated if you shoot some pellets through without trying to hit a target and concentrate on not hitting the chrono.
Safer for the chrono and lets you shoot more.
-
I'm up to 40 days, still no speed meter. ???
-
There must have something wrong happened with your shipment. But if I remember It right, the whole process will be closed after 30 days automatically if you not complete the transaction, wasn't it?
What I would do, I would contest it, get my money back, and order the same thing from Amazon, yes it is some $ more, but for sure much easier to handle and faster too. Somewhere down here in this thread someone ordered the tripod one from Amazon and had it within a week or so, can't remember the exact amount of days.
But that's only my 2 cents. I had mine within 17 days or so.
I'm so sorry for your inconvienice with that. and I feel for you.
-
Damon, If you ordered off ebay , request a refund. That is what I did. The refund came quickly as the seller wants to keep a clean record. Then I ordered from Amazon and received in a week. The cost was just $27....

I got one too (from Chicago) but paid more and got it in 4 days off eBay. I printed a narrow MPS to FPS conversion strip and taped it to the top.

I ordered mine from AliExpress. The seller extended my "purchase protection" for another 30 days when I contacted him on March 18, which then extended the dispute date another 30 days. There's a button for opening a dispute. I just messaged the seller and advised that if I don't see it within a couple of days, I will be opening a dispute.
I really like the unit on AliExpress, not real crazy about the Amazon & eBay units that seem to clamp onto the end of the barrel? But if I can get a refund, I guess I'll go that route. I don't want to have to wait another 30+ days to see if one from AliExpress shows up or not. Not a real good impression for my first order.
-
I already have a Caldwell with app for the smartphone. I bought this one because it was cheap, and I can clamp it to the barrel. I don't have to worry about shooting it if it's clamped to the barrel, right?

How does the vel. reading compare between your 2 chonos? I'd read that you needed to be back around 2 feet to get an accurate vel reading.
-
I have been trying to spend the weekend fishing, but it keeps raining on weekends!🤣
I will try to compare the two if I get a clear weekend.
-
I have the clamp on model, it reads every shot, and is close enough for reference. Way better than not having a crono ;)
-
Yippee!! Today I received my Chrono w/tripod.
Order:
March 22
Received:
April 11
22days -USPS
Small box that was barely larger than the chrono, looked to have taken quite a beating between there and here...
Plugged it in my USB and it was fully charged.
Time to check it out!

Dang, ordered mine on the 23rd of March...no show yet. Perhaps it will arrive this week.
-
Mine came pretty quickly too. Still haven't tried it yet though.
-
i received mine 2 or 3 months ago, still haven't had time to try it yet , I think it took about a month to get it , (don't quote me on that , I can't remember what I had for breakfast yesterday) ;)
-
F.Y.I. the little cable has an integrated lithium battery charger built into it. It isn't just a cord.
There is no charger circuitry in the unit itself.
I did get a chance to go fishing this past weekend, not a bite!
-
I have 2 of these now. One with a few holes blown in it, one without. Both work great :D
-
If you noticed it lowers the usb voltage from 5v to 4.2v. Also senses when charged.
-
I ordered from AliExpress on Feb 22, it still hasn't shown up and tracking still shows that it's in China. I finally filed a dispute, and my money was refunded about a week ago. I looked back through this thread, and folks were receiving their shipments in about 17-23 days. So I figured that something was wrong when nearly 2 months had gone by. I ordered the same unit off eBay for a little more - it was $34 but it's shipping from NY.
-
Opened a dispute with the seller...he is sending another one. Mine got stuck in a distribution center in China. We shall see.
-
Hope this works out and you get your unit soon!
-
So I have a Competition Electronics Pro Chrono and it has always been frustrating to use in the sunlight. I never went to the trouble to get LED lights for it so it was quite finicky to get the sensors pointed towards the sun. At least on mine, it wouldn't work any other way. It also tended to show error on many shots. So, I broke out my little ali express unit yesterday. Turned it on at dusk, no real direct sunlight and shot 10 shots and it registered each one and based on previous measurements on this gun, it was very accurate. Ease of use alone makes this blow away the pro chrono. I wish I had found this ages ago!
-
Hope this works out and you get your unit soon!
Thanks Doug! Ill give it another 4 weeks :-\
-
Set mine up indoors. No additional lighting and fired 35 shots with it on the small shipped tripod (not to stable). From muzzle to the chrono was 14" and to the target was 5' away and had 100% of my readings. Good news.
I made a spreadsheet to give me FPS translations from MPS and FPE as well.
I have a Caldwell Chrono as well and will test both side by side outdoors and share my data. I will shoot my Marauder and my Maximus for my comparison.
Hope you all get yours SOON!!!
-
... I have a Caldwell Chrono as well and will test both side by side outdoors and share my data.
Instead of side by side, how about "in a line" -- one shot, two readings -- single-variable experiment. Might be interesting to see direct comparison, and the degree of consistency. Then swap positions?
I like my ChiChron (but nothing to compare with).

I like my ChiChron (but nothing to compare with).
I did this with my 2 china chronies about 6 inches apart - same shot, one of them said 149.2, the other said 148.6. 8)

Nice!
Too bad there's no way to "calibrate" them--like mileage markers and a stopwatch ;).

Whether nuclear disarmament or muzzle velocity ... "Trust, but verify."
-
Great idea Clem! I will do as you suggested. Might be a few week, but I'll get to it.
-
Well well, after over 2 months and a completed disputed, my Ali Express chrony finally showed up. The box was a little beat up, but the contents all seem fine and I'll be using it later today. Since I had already given up on receiving this one, I also ordered one off eBay from NY. So now I'll have 2 of them I guess. Boy, the little included tripod is about one of the cheapest things I've seen, LOL. I don't think there's any possible way to level it, so I'll have to use something else.
-
I used zip ties around each leg to keep them where they needed to be positioned
-
Thanks for the update on the tripod.
I think that the clamp version is better than the tripod version. I feel like there's less chance of shooting it if the meter is affixed to the barrel.
-
Yep, been there done that! LOL
-
I just placed an order for the tripod version.
$32 including shipping to Denmark.
It'll be fun to see the velocities from my new multi-pump Artimis LR700W (Seneca Dragonfly) as well as my other airguns'
-
Just received my AliExpress chrony yesterday. Pretty much the same crushed box as shown a couple of emails earlier. Nonetheless, the contents were intact. Today, I got to try it. Thanks to the translated instructions by Lonewolf, I was able to set it up and try it out. It was easy to use and measured every shot. (My indoor range is in the basement and lit with LED fixtures (shop lights)). Have to say it's an amazing value.
-
I am curious about the comparisons..
-
Pay for 2, get one. I got hit by import fees and had to pay $28 in import tariff plus fees.
The fee is fixed at $24, even though the actual tariff to be paid is only $4.
Arrival due Monday
-
I am curious about the comparisons..
i have the clamp version. was shooting .224 75fpe. it was missing 100fps compared to my pro chono. it is however...good for pellet guns. accurate within 15fps.
-
I have the clamp version, but most of the time I do not clamp it on the gun.
I just set it on sandbags and shoot thru it.
I should have bought the tripod version because I think it has a bigger hole to shoot thru.
Sooner or later I will probably shoot it because it is not clamped on the barrel.
-
I'm getting erratic velocity readings with my multi-pump Artemis LR700W (Seneca Dragonfly)
-
I have the clamp model. I put the upper clamp upside down, and just rest the barrel on the V. In order to physically feel the deepness position I put a SHALLOW limiter ('L') secured between the clamps to (smoothly) stop the barrel tip. After that, I am carefully eyeballing the vertical and horizontal aligment. I think I'm being able to be 'repeatable' and the results have been consistent.
-
Velcro would keep one of those in place it would seem like.
-
Well, still haven't received mine. The seller said he sent another one, then said he would issue a refund, which has not shown up after 4 days. Giving him until tomorrow before I send negative feedback.
-
Just ordered the clamp on model from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DCQTXK4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DCQTXK4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
Wish me luck!

Also cut a piece of one inch conduit for a shim. One and a half inch long to go under the U Bolt when needed.....
As I have a DIY LDC at the end of my ATI Nova Freedom .177, I plan to use the U bolt as well. I don't have to worry about scratches, but for a secure fit I will have to find something to cushion the U-bolt.
Thanks!

That's what I am hoping...
Are you still using yours Hunter White?
-
Yes, it's handy because it's small enough to fit into the range bag.
I ordered it through Amazon, the same one that you posted. They have tracking numbers for your viewing pleasure. My order was placed the first day, left the factory to the shipper in China the next day, then no updates for about two weeks. Then it arrived on the west coast, trucked via FedEx, and to my door about 3 or 4 days after that.
When you track it don't worry about the two weeks or so while it's on the ship, it's on its way.
Sorry to hear about your experience with Ali baba.

Thanks, although that is not very encouraging. I guess I will just have to wait. From the reviews, I think it will do what I need it to do.
I don't mind the conversion from MPS to FPS, although the Chinese would be strongly advised to make that option available. (grin)
Seems like it would be a very simple firmware change.

English versions of the instructions for both the clamp-on and the tripod version can be downloaded from this very thread ;)

I would truly like to thank Doug for the translation. It is useless without the instructions.

For the tripod model see Reply#55 on Page 3.
For the clamp-on model see Reply#78 on Page 4.

LOL, you guys are great!
This looks like a neat unit and the price is worth the gamble. I have a Magneto Speed V2 but was told that it won't work with 177 or 22 pellets so I'm really looking forward to trying this out.
-
Anybody shoot theirs yet ? Kids took my charging cord CAN'T find it anywhere ! Anyone willing to surrender their charging cord ?
Have you gotten a cord yet?? I just killed mine, it only took 6 shots to kill it. lol If not PM me your addy and I'll send it out to ya.

I ordered the Clamp On unit June 16th and if the USPS doesn't screw it up it should be here either today or tomorrow. Less than two weeks from the time I ordered, not bad in my opinion.
Thanks to everyone that's contributed to this thread. A special thanks to Dan and Adam for the conversion charts.

My $22 clamp on model is more accurate than my Caldwell.
My Caldwell gives inconsistent velocities. Sometimes too high and sometimes too low.
-
My $22 clamp on model is more accurate than my Caldwell.
My Caldwell gives inconsistent velocities. Sometimes too high and sometimes too low.
I have nothing to compare my clamp on "velocity meter" to, but it does work flawlessly and because it is clamped to the barrel I know that the pellet is going over the sensors consistently.
As I understand it, having never owned one, the Caldwell and other similar chronos, can be off depending on MANY factors. Lighting source, angle of the shot across the sensors, etc.
For what I bought mine for, tuning AG's, it was the best and cheapest solution! Also, I am glad I bought the clamp on model. Much more consistent shot placement and I will never shoot and destroy it with a pellet! :o ;D
-
I ordered my clamp-on unit on 6/18 from Aliexpress, forgot all about it, and it arrived today 7/8. I haven't had a chance to try it out other than turning it on.
As with many others, mine came no instructions, Chinese or otherwise, so Doug's translated instructions will come in handy. Thanks Doug!
Can anyone post the photos from the clamp-on instructions? I just want to see what the proper mounting is supposed to be.

I have the clamp on model, I set it right at the edge of the barrel, end of the barrel is about an inch from the sensors. I have mounted it upside down and sideways depending on the gun I am mounting it too.
-
Some of us have put plastic or silicon tubing over the u-bolts to prevent damage to our airgun.
-
I also have the clamp on model, I put tubing over the U bar that fits air strippers etc and neoprene gasket rubber over the barrel cradle so it does not scratch anything.
I'm ver happy with it , found a good app for converting m's to fps but getting used to m/s in end.
Charge seems to last a long time. I like how small it is .

Just bringing this back to the top to share a couple of observations.
I ordered one of the clamp-on versions a couple of weeks ago and it came in today. I have a Pro Chrono that I like but as a dad with a houseful of kids, a lot of my discretionary time is after dark so it's not unusual for me to be chrony testing into the middle of the night. A couple of hockey puck LED lights for the Pro Chrono has been the answer...it's quick and it works but it's not as forgiving as natural light so I do get some read errors. It's a mild annoyance when it happens...unless I'm checking a rifle for regulator creep and the first shot doesn't register. And unfortunately a string of expletives does nothing to retroactively change the result. So I'm pleased as punch this clamp-on meter can just be attached to the muzzle and completely sidestep the need for lighting and I don't have to worry about aiming over the sensors. It just works.
I did set up the Pro Chrono tonight just to compare the readings. They agree very closely. The clamp-on meter registers consistently about 5fps faster for the ~900fps test rifle, and it should measure slightly faster due to its proximity so that's a good sign.
Money well spent. I should have gotten one sooner.

I have been tickled with my clamp-on model. I do believe it is fairly accurate and not having to worry about lights makes it extremely handy for indoor and night shooting.

Glad to hear that it is very close to a regular crono. I need to get one of those for spot checking velocity.

Robert, I think the only problem I have read about them is from people who ordered the tripod model and ended up shooting theirs.
That can't happen with the clamp-on model.

Sure Kerry, rub it in!!!! It did take 6 shots to kill it though. lol If I shot to close on the tripod model the readings were all over the place. Maybe because the clamp on model only has one light and sensor front and rear it's not affected by the air being expelled with the pellet.

LOL!
Honestly, I could not remember who posted about shooting their tripod model.
All I know is that I am still very happy with my $31 clamp-on model. It does everything I need it to do. If they ever come out with a model that does FPS instead of MPS, I will probably buy one of those in the clamp-on style as well.

I have shot both of my tripod models more than once - luckily they were just barely grazed every time. Both still work very well, but the casing is a bit cracked up on them.
The only problem that wasn't my fault was the tripod itself breaking on one of them. The tripods are flimsy, but I don't really need the tripod anyway.
All in all these things are great for the money - they almost never fail to register a shot.

I know the question wasn't directed at me but I'll answer for me.
I bought the tripod model because I almost always test a few airguns at the same time and it's easier to not have to switch it around between guns. I have a Pro Chrono and a Gamma Master Chrony with Printer also, both are large and do a great job in the daylight for me, I seldom have an error or a even an isolated problem like I see others have with their Chronographs, I just thought it would be nice because of its small size and being able to extend my testing into cooler/darker hours in the summer with ease.

Okay,
I have shot both of my tripod models more than once -
And
It did take 6 shots to kill it though.
Guys, you need a more powerful rifle for a humane kill!

I wasn't sure that the muzzles of my guns would fit through the clamp. I also like to test at longer distances sometimes to see how much energy is retained by different pellets.

RE

I've considered using the clamp on unit on the muzzle, and the Caldwell down range. I would put a protective plate with a hole like field target in front of the Caldwell. The Caldwell has a much larger area to shoot through than the clamp on unit, so it's the better choice for down range.
First test to see if the two units agree on velocity.

I bought the tripod model because it was easier to use imo.
In what way easier? Do you mean not having to clamp it onto the barrel?
I have found it relatively easy to use and I am clamping it to a 1 inch PVC tube which is my "LDC".
On normal barrels, it does not require the U-bolt and is even easier.
In any case, I still recommend the clamp-on model over the tripod model. No, you can't get readings other than at the muzzle, but those readings are accurate and the tripod model does not offer a much larger area to shoot through at distance. SO, shooting/destroying the tripod model is almost a certainty over time.
I bought the clamp-on model knowing I would not be able to use it for POI velocities and I am OK with that. Tuning my AG's for muzzle velocity is what I bought it for in the first place.
-

I think anybody that doesn't have the confidence or the ability to shoot through the tripod model should probably get the clamp on one. Not saying that accidents don't happen just that with caution and paying attention should be fine to use the tripod model without shooting it in my opinion.

I bought the clamp on model for $22 and I am VERY happy with it.
It is accurate and simple after printing Doug's instructions in English.
It works every time both inside and outside.
I like it better for airguns than my Caldwell and my Pro Chrono Pal.
My Caldwell gives inconsistent velocities.
My Pro Chrono Pal does not have a light kit so I can only use it outside.

For those that want a strip conversion table from 70 to 410 MPS-->230-1345 FPS to print I made this MS Word Doc to print a narrow MPS to FPS conversion strip and taped it to the top.
Here is a pic and the MS Doc!

Multiply the meters per second by 3.28 to get the feet per second.

I think the real problem is when people try to shoot through these at a distance. The margin for error is small enough that even a "flyer" pellet could destroy the unit. Even the tripod model is not really designed for POI measuring at any usable distance. Although it will work, the chances of hitting it grow exponentially with the distance from the muzzle.
They are marketed as "muzzle velocity meters", after all... (grin)

"A man's gota know his limitations" (heard in Clint Eastwood's voice!) One of my grandson that was 15 at the time shot the diffuser on my one of mine from about 4 feet while I was keeping an eye on him. I could tell ahead of time that he was going to hit it and said "stop" but he shot anyway. Luckily it was a low powered gun and it just dented the edge. Another time he was aiming right at the front but did stop, and I never let him shoot through it again. So, not everyone is just hitting them at distance!
My daughter (his mom) told me yesterday though that he breaks every screen that he has anything to do with. His cell phones usually have a broken screen. About a month ago he broke two cell phones the same day. :o :o He is clumsy and has attention issues too. That's a bad combination. On a Dirt Bike (including a YZ490) or Any Quad he is fearless and does crazy stuff and is really good at pulling it off. He seldom crashes. He has burned up a lot of motors on them (10?) though. A few weeks ago he road a Yamaha Warrior around on two side wheels for over an hour without going back to four wheels then the motor gave up. It seems as though the motor is not designed to oil/run at that angle only for such an extended period of time. ::) To be fair they are all older when he got them, and he is getting good at rebuilding them.

Just bought one of these 2nd hand. It’s the tripod shoot through type.
May try it out late tonight.
Wanted something to chrono with indoors with my airguns... this should fill the bill!
-
I’m happy with this little muzzle chrony. Don’t have another crony to compare it with right now, but the numbers i’m getting certainly agree with the pellet drop I have all the way out to 50 yds.
I did have to back off a couple feet from it with my 880 and about 4 ft. with the 397 to get consistent readings.
I think the air blast was interfering at the suggested 4 cm distance.
I made sure how low I was shooting before shooting through the chrony at those distances though.
Had to aim toward the top of the little chrony to get it through the center at those distances... good thing I checked the drop first lol.
Seemed to be important to shoot through it on a level for consistency.
I did the best I could on that considering the way I had it set up I had to shoot kneeling resting one elbow on my knee.
All in all, very pleased with this little Chinese wonder!
Lol, best know your pellet drop and shoot with a “known” accurate rifle if shooting through one of these at much distance though!!
Think i’ll keep it up close with this one. :D

Mine seems to need some warm up.. ::), after that, I think it's fine.
My last two strings just for a quick check about the spring (getting weak) and the piston seal (ES).

I don't know if this has been discussed, but it seems that the tripod models actually measure in tenths of a mps, while the clamp on models on measure in whole mps.
I know my clamp on model does not do tenths of a mps.
Maybe someone with the tripod model can verify?

My clamp-on model shows 3 numbers.
If the velocity is under 100 mps, then it will read in tenths.
Examples: 95.4, 89.6, 97.8 then 103, 205, 125
Multiply the mps by 3.28 to get fps.
Examples: 200 mps x 3.28 = 656 fps
100 mps = 328 fps
200 mps = 656 fps
278 mps = 912 fps
1 mps = 3.28 fps

I don't see tenths when measuring MV on my AGs, so I don't have to ignore it. None of them shoot under 100 mps.
However, since there is obviously some rounding going on, there is a possible variance without measuring tenths of at least 3+ fps on each shot measurement. (+1.5/-1.5 fps)
Not a huge deal, but I WOULD buy another one (clamp on model) if it always measured in tenths of a mps (4 digit display) or simply measured in fps to start with.
They are SOOOO cheap and mine has worked flawlessly so far!
-
I think that the actual measurement is not as accurate as what shows up on the screen.
My Caldwell Kit will show a velocity of 855 fps but the number it shows is actually off by as much as 25 fps.
I have 2 Caldwell Kits, plus a Prochrono Pal, plus a Chinese clamp-on.
When I line them up and shoot thru all 3 and adjust for the distance from the muzzle, they do not exactly agree.
My Calwells are off the most.

I don't have any other chronos, but I suspect the clamp on model is more consistent simply because it IS attached to the barrel and all shots pass through the sensors at the same angle, etc.
Of course, I could be wrong, but I am very satisfied with mine. Doing the quick math for FPS isn't really a problem, but it would be nice if it did do FPS out of the box and then I would not care at all about tenths of a FPS.
Anyway, thanks for the replies!

The tripod model chrony I have has 4 digits. Yesterday, I measured one of my P17's and measured 119.6 m/s ( 392.4 fps) average. The other P17 comes in at 123.6 m/s (405.6 fps) average. Brown box 7.9gr. (Measured on different days...)

I ordered one of these from AliExpress on Dec 1st. It just showed up today (Dec 19th). 18 days shipping from China isn't bad at all, especially considering it was "free shipping". Now I just have to open it and test it out...
-
I did some slight alteration to mine with longer bolts and wing nuts so it’s always a single unit instead of putting it together and I keep dropping the allen bolts. Now i just slide on then tighten the wing nuts. I also gorilla taped the contact surface to prevent barrel marks and scratches. ;)

I may need to do something like that so that I can actually clamp it on a Beeman P17. (grin)
But, the MVM would probably have to go under the gun because of where the muzzle is located.
No problem... I have mounted the MVM at all locations of the clock on other AGs and it just keeps working like a top! (smile)

After reading this I ordered one, from Aliexpress, comments calmed my nervs, and at $23.00 I am still protected by visa.
Looking forward to testing my FWB 124 now that I have installed a JM pro kit.
both power and constancy
What is an acceptable variance in velocity and what would be the variance you would want to see for accuracy.
Dennis
-
In general, what is considered is the extreme spread ES = maximum speed minus minimum speed; as a rule of thumb, things ok if the ES is up to 4% of the average speed.
In terms of accuracy, I suggest that you realize what makes you happy to your 'needs', with a reasonable (to you) consistency concerning group sizes x distances. In other words, don't give a chance for stress based on what others say that are capable of.

Clamp on or tripod model?
Acceptable variance is something different to each shooter.
I would *like* to have no more than 2% ES (extreme spread), but anything under 5 or 6% ES is acceptable and usable for me. Probably even higher than that when it comes to differences in POI at the distances I usually shoot. 25-35 yards most of the time and occasionally 55 yards. The longer the distance the more the ES will matter. ;) ;D

I have the clamp-on model.
It works excellent when you can clamp it on the barrel.
It will give a reading every time inside or out when it is clamped on the barrel.
You cannot clamp it on a P17 barrel so you must shoot very carefully thru it to get a reading.
When I carefully shoot thru it 10 times with a P17, I will get 4 or 5 readings.
You cannot sight in a gun while using the clamp on model because it changes the POI of the pellet.
I like my clamp on model more than my ProChrono Pal and my Caldwell Kit for airguns.
The tripod model has more sensors so it will give a reading for a larger area.
I assume that if you are shooting from a bench you could put the tripod model on the bench and shoot thru it while sighting in or shooting targets, but you would need to be careful to not shoot it.
Please note, these little chronographs are for airguns only, NOT for firearms.

Earl, I completely removed the clamp on mine when testing the P17s. That allowed me to place the muzzle consistently where I *thought* it should be and I had no errors.
I think I shot through it that way for about 50 or so shots and always got a reading and the readings were VERY consistent. YRMV ;)
Also, I HAVE sighted in AGs with the MVM clamped on and noticed NO POI changes when I removed it. Go figure...

I ordered the trip pod model
The FWB 124 is a break barrel Springer. I did not want the potential hassle of cocking with the unit clamped to the front
Just me but I am looking for target accuracy even though I would consider myself a plinker. My goal is to get the best this gun has to offer
Dennis
-
To my break barrels, I (carefully) rest the muzzle on the opened clamp.
To improve accuracy, you will have to pay special attention for the trigger weight adjustment; it has to be light enough to squeeze, without ruining all your other efforts.
-
These sound pretty good for the price, I think I’ll have to get me one. 😁
-
I just got mine. It is very light. But for less than $29 bucks who cares! It is a backup for my air chrony. They measure only 6 feet different.

For a springer with a tune kit, fresh properly sized seals, and an appropriate application of lube, I would hope for an ES of no more than 15fps.

I received mine from Aliexpress on Friday 7 February. I ordered it on the 19th of January. First off a big thanks to Lonewolf54 for emailing the instructions. I couldn’t get the link he posted to work but a pm got a fast response with a pdf. I did a quick test this morning after charging the unit for about 2 hours. Works really slick. Simple to use. I shot 16 shots then went to the saved shot feature and recorded the MPS readings. Multiplied them each by 3.28 for FPS readings. I got the tripod model. Tripod is junk but not a big deal I just set the chronograph on a box on my work bench and set up a muzzle rest to keep the distance from the chronograph always the same and to make sure I didn’t shoot the chronograph. Moving forward or back 3-4 inches didn’t seem to affect the readings. It read out every time and never gave an error message. If you had a gun that the clamp on chronograph would fit and you wanted to make adjustments that required moving the gun around a lot I could see that being very handy not having to keep re-aligning gun and chronograph. This was my first purchase from aliexpress and I can say I was impressed. For my purpose of knowing velocity changes when turning a power adjuster this is exactly what I needed
-
I can't seem to locate the tripod model on Aliexpress any more. The one Jimmy linked in the original post shows not available. Anybody got a current link?
Searching for chronograph gives me pages of wrist watches, and searching "velocity meter" or "shooting meter" gives about 384 places to buy the clamp-on model. After a few more fruitless searches, I gave up and returned here.

I've been using my tripod model for over a year now (can that be possible?!?) and other than nicking it with a pellet- which is no fault of the unit other than the shooting "window" is small- it has proven to be a reliable, accurate little unit. A VERY good value, in my opinion.
-
sure beats the pants off my first F-1 green WO/0 99.00 light kit ;)
-
It took 6 shots to kill mine. lol That window is very small.
-
Finally got to use mine yesterday after 8 months (long story). Was using it to tune in my .30 Marauder.
Super easy to use, a bit challenging to understand the interpreted instructions provided earlier in the thread, but easy enough. Thanks Doug for translating! Still need to figure out a few things.
One of the best airgun values for me. I do want to compare it with the Pro Chrono at a later date.

I received my clamp on barrel Meter 2 days ago and after an hour of charging it up, I hooked up my rifle to it, fired it, and Bada Bing, I was getting accurate enough readings.
Pros: It's simple to use, really portable, chargable, and accurate enough for my needs. Did I mention portable?
Cons: None really, except, if you own the "clamp on barrel" meter, and use a LDC you may have have to take off the LDC first, or get longer clamp bolts, or not use the clamp.
For $28, its a steal!

I use 1 inch PVC for my DIY LDCs and the u-bolt, that comes with the MVM, allows the MVM to work flawlessly.
However, I have to remove ALL mounting hardware and use my own *judgement* to get readings for the Beeman B17s that I own.
By that, I mean that I have to hold the Beeman B17 near the MVM and be consistent in that hold for consistent readings. No problem.
Always got a reading and all readings were consistent.
Never have NOT gotten a reading doing this, and I am confident that the readings are accurate and consistent.
IF there is a sight or other obstruction that is not removable, then the clamp on model may pose problems. Also, the clamp on model only has a 3 digit display, so over 100mps, it will NOT show anything under 1.0mps. Under 100mps, it will... but at that speed, who cares?
Other than that, I STILL recommend the clamp on model over the tripod model for consistency/accuracy.
Not to say that the tripod model is bad, just that you WILL have more problems with it for various reasons (mostly user caused/oriented) even though it does have a 4 digit display.

Thanks! Just got mine.
It sure is tiny! I think due to the short distance between the clamp and the sensors, and most air guns having front sights, most will need to be mounted rotated by 90 degrees. That’s how I’ve mounted the ones I’ve tested so far. I do wish it was able to easily accommodate a wider variety of barrels, but it still is a bargain!

Many thanks to all who helped with the English Manuals. Extra thanks especially from those of us that got no included manuals at all!!
Anyone looking for the manuals, page 6 of the thread has them.

A few days after ordering, the vendors sent me an email that they had to cancel my order because they sold out and didn't know when they'll get more in. I'm guessing this was due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Well, this thread popped up again last night, and I clicked on the link I'd posted. It showed that it was in stock again. I went ahead and placed another order. Fingers crossed.

Here’s hoping you benefit from your own link!!
And thanks again for posting it; its the only reason I purchased one—a bit too expensive otherwise!!

The Tripod model I bought has 4 digits and has a range to 800m/s. I would think a three digit range would just top out at 800 too not 500 without the .X . It is obviously a reduced cost built model with adequate range for airguns but is completely different other than appearance since the range measured without tenths and does not read as high. It may be more odd that it was not made like this new version to start with.

I have the clamp on model and it works good for air guns.
The tripod model is probably a little better for a little more money.
-
During some months, I didn't use it for many times or long sessions.. Today it stopped showing the speed. I put it to recharge; after 1 h 15' I went to look and the light (USB cable) was already green. Let's see how much it will last.
-
I ordered the tripod model off Amazon a few weeks ago. Still waiting. Wondering how long it will take with the current state of affairs.

I ordered mine with the tripod on March 1st it flew here from Corona land and got here on the 14th. Was almost fully charged when I got it. Works good. Instructions are hilarious as there are about 10 pages without any pics and it’s only written in Chinese symbols. Good luck with that. Good thing it says on and off.

Here are the screenshots. The first 3 are for the tripod model, the other 3 are for the clamp-on.

Thanks much. Don’t know why the link doesn’t load for me but I saved these as pics

Would someone else try the links to see if they still work for them? I tried and didn't have any issues but since they are my links maybe they are only working for me. If somehow they got old and quit working, I can repost them.

The actual links in message #115 work fine. I think the problem may have been that the file names are in message #114 in text form and are not links.
Just a guess... ;)
Here is a direct link to message #115 of this thread that has the working links.

Worked for me, as of this morning, via my phone. That's how I got the screenshots.
You won't be able to open it, if the device you're using don't have a PDF reading software.
-
OK, glad to know they are still working. I have sent out a few copies via email if anyone needs it that way.
-
I got mine today.
I installed a rubber tubing to the u bracket, and applied electrical tape to the v base to help protect the barrel/shroud.
I turn the unit upside down so I can shoot with the scope, and keep an eye on any changes in velocity.
So far, I'm really liking this device! Thanks again for posting about this, guys!
-
I got mine yesterday in the mail finally. I got the tripod version. It works great other than being too light. The muzzle blast moves it around a little over a few shots. I'm going to pick up a better table top tripod with rubber feet for it and I'm sure that will be fixed.
Nathan
-
I just tested it against my Caldwell, work the .25 Armada: 823fps on the Caldwell; 250mps(820fps) on the muzzle meter :D
I now have the unit turned sideways, with the reader on the left side of the gun. Much easier to read than upside down.

Try searching for Velocimetry on Aliexpress. https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&initiative_id=SB_20200329070035&SearchText=velocimetry (https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&initiative_id=SB_20200329070035&SearchText=velocimetry) On the first page there were about 55 chronys. (500+ hits). They have 3 digit versions (clamp on) and 4 digit versions (tripod) as well as some 'standard' chronys. It seems to be the 10th year anniversary of Aliexpress, so they seem to be offering some discounts.
Before CV, the shipping time from China was decent. After/during CV shipping has been very delayed. Your mileage may vary. I ordered some machining items 6 weeks ago, and the tools have yet to leave China. Tracking information is not illuminating. Just have to wait it out.
Quite pleased with my tripod model. It's mounted on a real tripod (not the junky one that comes with it). If mine died right now, I'd order another one without hesitation.

I got mine off eBay, knowing that it was US stock. I feel an extra $8 was worth the significantly faster shipping.

I like to be able to shoot for accuracy and chronograph at the same time....two birds with one stone. It also helps when figuring out the effects of velocity changes...especially for unregulated airguns.
I bought this one. It is much lighter and smaller but I've been having iffy reliability with it though it's accuracy matched my Caldwell. One time it worked great. The next time off and on. The next time, not at all. :-(

Great thread! Answered my questions +
Thanks guy's

I am really liking mine...a bit concerned as there is no charging light when I plug it in, but it continues to work. So easy to use vs setting up the ProChrono.
-
Hmm on mine the plug to the charger lights up green and turns off when charged.
-
Did you guys see the warning about do not use wile charging ? Will cause damage to the unit.
I se on on Amazon that claims 1500ms bit can't find it at Ali . Just the 999ms or 500ms . Oh and there's a 80 count memory one to.
All I see the need is shoon5 or so check speed and move on anyway from time to time.
One more thing , how as he shipping experience from China on your items?
-
Just as Corona hit I ordered a bottle reg. and just got it last week, things seem to be improving back to the usual, one month wait , with a solar light I ordered last week and tracking info.
-
I've always heard the saying " it's on the slow boat from China " when I was a kid ,but did not realize how true it really is ...lol...
That shipping at Ali is all over the place . Crazy
-
Mine never showed any lights when i plugged it in, it has been working since new though. I just figured it had a full charge when shipped..I did leave it plugged in for a few hours, so hopefully it is just the indicator light malfunctioning. Time will tell, but at 20-30 $ not too concerned.

I got mine three days ago and have been using it daily to finally tune my new Synrod. It hasn't skipped a shot and is extremely consistent, allowing me to finally have this gun fine tuned for multiple setups from a high power tune with lower shot count to one that will give me 60+ shots at lower power on a charge. It's given me an understanding of how this great gun works I could not have learned without it.
Thirty bucks, absolutely simple to use anywhere and any time regardless of light or no light. It's small enough to stick in any bag or even a coat pocket and take wherever you go. The rechargeable battey lasts a long time but it can be charged in any usb outlet in a home, car, or from a pocket usb charger so you'll never have it run out of power.
Like I said... everyone should have one of these whether you have a "normal" chrony or not. Once you do it's my bet this one will get used far more often than the one you paid the big bucks for.
-
I love this little chrony so much that I went to buy another about two weeks before covid-19 and I still have not seen it. I just emailed the store that I bought from on Aliexpress and they still believe I will get it. We'll see. Other orders have taken 3 months too, so they may be right. At the moment if you are going to get one of these, order from a dealer that stocks them in whatever country your in, or settle in for a long wait.

It took a while but was well worth it IMHO,.
Ordered on 7-3-20 from Amazon and got it the 22nd. Not as long as it seemed I see. :)
I was going to get a chrony for years but couldn't justify it. Once I got the Mrod it was a necessity, and I'd settled on a nice one but it was spendy. About the same time I began reading about this one and as the rave reviews from users kept coming in I decided to try one. I am SOOOOO glad I did.
-
I see. That's reasonable especially coming from China.
-
A tip to users of the one I have, the one that clamps onto the barrel, that lets me slip it on and off easily without messing with the four screws all the time.
My wife got some little finger sleeves, kinda useless IMO for what they were purported to do, that I slip onto the end of my barrel. I put the clamp (the two V-shaped ones, not the big U-bolt) on and have it just tight enough to hold the chrony nice and stable, but not tight. Since I have been shooting so much tuning, then refilling the gun, which I can't do with the chrony on the barrel, I just slip it off and fill then slip it back on to shoot.
I was going to line it with tape or something like I've seen. Then I remembered these things laying around and tried it. Some of the stuff she gets off her bargain sites, maybe a lot of it lol, turns out to be good for nothing... except for my repurposing.
-
fairly new here, I picked up one of the clamp on units and it arrived fairly quickly! It came with no instructions so I would like to offer up BIG THANKS to Doug for his translated and revised instruction sheet and to Paul for his excel spread sheet. I've never owned or even used a crony before! Can anyone tell me how the U bolt is used? It seems redundant with the barrel clamp? And while I owe thanks to many here for the help and info so freely shared here, this place is costing me money!!!! Since joining I have purchased a 1377 phase 2, this crony, upgrade parts for the 1377 (.22 barrel, steel breech, .22 bolt probe and 1.7X scope) about a half dozen tins of various .22 and .177 pellets and a Beeman p-17!! Actually 2 p-17's one I got screwed on and am disputing the charges!
Be well, be safe, John

The U bolt is used for barrels that are too big for the clamp,
Take the top of the clamp off and use the U bolt if the barrel is too big for the clamp.
-
Can anyone tell me how the U bolt is used? It seems redundant with the barrel clamp?
The U bolt provides a method of quick removal of the unit.
-
I just used mine for the first time and I am extremely happy! I had the Caldwell wih all the goodies, but it was always a hastle to set up and was fustrating if the sunlight was too bright. This takes less than 5 minutes to hook up to my barrel and start Chrony. It is accurate enough for my needs. Best bang for the buck! 8)

Much Thanks, so it just replaces the top half of the barrel clamp! Was trying to figure it out using both clamping methods.

Thanks pic is worth a 1000 words!!!!

Pretty excited to try mine! Of to the beach! Maybe Sunday?
-
WOW! This is a huge thread.
Sorry if it was already asked and answered. Do you have to clamp it on the barrel? I have a floating barrel and shroud and worried the weight will dis-align the shroud and bore.
How heavy is the chrony?
-
There are two different types. One is a clamp-on version which does clamp to your barrel. The second version though is stand alone and no clamping is necessary. You just need to make sure you shot through it and not actually shoot the chrony ;D. Both versions are relativity light.
-
I have a finger sleeve from some of my wife's stuff that I keep on the muzzle of my Mrod. It takes me ten seconds to attach the chrony securely. With the sleeve's forgiving thickness I just slide the chrony on to use it and slide it off to charge it or put it down. The sleeve also prevents any marks on the shroud. I leave it on all the time... it's a good hold point that keeps fingers off the metal and protects the gun wherever I lean it.
With the little sleeve on there I just spread the two halves of the clamp and slide it on, checking the four screws to make sure they're all even. Turn it on and go.
It doesn't change a thing on my gun, nothing really does. It did before I O-ringed the shroud clamp, but now it always holds the same POI no matter what.
This little chrony is invaluable. A PCP isn't like a springer... those do what they do. But on a PCP like a Marauder with its tuning potentials? If you don't have a chronograph you may as well have bought a springer. This little thing has allowed me to tune to my gun's potentials, works inside and out and has no lighting concerns. I like it so much I may get another one just for a spare... in case.
-
Here is a thought I just had, I have the clamp-on BTW. One could clamp a tube to a gun rest/ shooting vise, and have it track the barrel alignment, vise could be left as crono rig if used just for that.

I just ordered one on ebay for $28.97 including shipping. Thanks for the link. I'm really looking forward to testing pellets and slugs!
-
Man ebay sent me a $25 off code so I got it for $3.48 shipped!
-
This is my version. Attached to my homemade gun rest. Functional and simple.

My daughter just said, "Daddy you received a package, did you see it?" NO! Where is it???!!!
So my new cheapo chrony arrived today instead of the 11th and I just found out. I'm dying to try it out, but it is too late tonight. It is smaller than I thought but surprisingly heavy for its size. And the instructions are entirely in Chinese, I think??
-

See reply #115 to download instructions in English for either model.

Ordered one and paid $3.49. Am HAPPY 😁

Links to the instructions in English are from Doug on Page 6, Reply#115.
Thanks to Doug, Lonewolf54, for the translation to English!
I have 3 chronographs and this is the one that I use the most on airguns.
Has anyone tried one of these on a 22LR?

I received mine around March/2019 and I use it to follow the spring and seals’ health of my breakbarrel coils spring. After some measuring along the year, I did a (few shots) comparison with a Pro Chrono in November/2019. Both were giving the same results for the average FPS (“21” FPE / spring with “5.3” K rounds), but a bit different regarding ES (0.8/1.4%). For my practical use, I thought the Chinese one was fine (also the rifle).
Some months ago, I did a recharge with my laptop/USB, and thought everything went ok. Nevertheless, the numbers become a kind of erratic.
A few days ago, despising some ‘crazy’ numbers, I considered only the ‘plausible’ ones for the average, and FPE had dropped to “18”. Regarding ES, I was not confident to ‘conclude’ anything, but was considering to replace the spring (7.0 K rounds), and see the OEM piston seal..; also thinking about replacing the OEM breech seal, just in case..
Today, (7.1 K rounds) I did a 10 rounds measuring with a Pro Crono and things were different.. FPE = “21” and ES = “2.5”%. I use the Pro Chrono at the shooting club, and, in both times, the available devices were in very good conditions (almost new), and no ‘errors’ along the series.
Passed to my mind the possibility that the measured FPE is a kind of “too good to be true”(!?). Maybe, the Pro Crono is consistent, but not accurate? Anyway, I am considering the Chinese as not reliable, and, for now, I will not do any maintenance.
I will keep the comparisons, to see if it recovers the credibility; at least.. consistency, a ‘reasonable’ ES along the series.

I received my unit yesterday as today I shot 80 rounds using 7 different pellets. 10 shots per pellet and shot the COHP’s twice because the first group had too much variation in speed. The unit gives speeds in meters/second. I had a surprise once I sat down to do the conversions to ft./sec. the numbers where a lot slower than expected. The CPHP’s were nearly 200 ft/sec slower than the speed report that came with the rifle. So now I’m left to wonder if there is a problem with the chrono, the rifle or both.

The advertised speeds for many rifles are more than you can get with lead pellets.

I’m not using marketing numbers. Benjamin included a 5 shot QC target and a 10 round chronograph printout tape with the rifle. My understanding is Benjamin uses the CP Domes for the target and crony testing which should be near enough to the CPHC’s to use as a benchmark.
So I am showing a 200 FPS loss compared to the chrony printout that Benjamin put in the box. I received the rifle early May of this year, and it is a Fortitude Gen2.
Has anyone else experienced a similar difference in reported speed using one of the cheap chronies?
-
When I first got this small unit, I'd shot along with my Caldwell unit. There were only a difference of about 3 fps.

Stephen, where does your understanding of the pellet used come from? My Synrod came with a target, too, but it didn't specify what pellet was used.
FWIW, my little chrony has never missed a shot, nor does it produce data that makes me think it's inaccurate... but I've never compared it to any other chrony either. To me, it's all relative... that is, I use it for tuning, and measuring the results of different settings. However, I do use the speed info in Chairgun for setting up my scope, and actual downrange results verify its accuracy.
There are methods to determine pellet speed by shooting in correlation with a ballistics program like Chairgun. It's a good way of finding the bottom line regardless of chronograph used.
From all the many threads on this unit I've read, my results are normal. Also from years of reading about published airgun speeds, it is a given they almost universally use the lightest pellet available for the caliber to determine those published specs. So unless it is specifically spelled out one must assume they're NOT using any other pellet.
All that said, if there is a specific pellet listed that was used in your chrono printout, and you're using the same pellet and not getting those results... and have made no adjustments to your gun... maybe the gun is defective, and maybe the chrono is defective. All maybes. The chines chrony is cheap, all things considered it might be a better option to get another chrony instead of going through sending the gun back. I've ordered a second chrony, mainly as a backup because I rely on it. But I'll also be comparing them of course. But 200 fps off is a lot, although you've not mentioned what the printout speed is or your measured speed... only the difference. Maybe providing that would help?

What formula are you using to convert meters per second to feet per second?
-
What formula are you using to convert meters per second to feet per second?
MPS X 3.281 = FPS
https://www.convertunits.com/from/fps/to/m/s (https://www.convertunits.com/from/fps/to/m/s)
Hope this helps
Ed

Yup.
-
What formula are you using to convert meters per second to feet per second?
In my case, I use a phone app... Converter+. Same thing only easier to carry around than a laptop. I do use an online converter for converting fps to muzzle energy per pellet weight at https://nielsenspecialtyammo.com/pages/fpe-calculator . Using just my phone at my shooting bench I simply plug the chrony's numbers into the app, then the resulting fps into the website's converter to keep track of shot strings for all pellet weights I'm using.
It's a little more time consuming with the little chinese chrony but works for me.
-
I just used mine today on the Dan's chrono test on a reseal, (results posted in the Vintage gate section).
I am not sure if I believe the results, I did convert the mps to fps by using 3.281 conversion factor.
I'll have to dig out the Oehlers and compare results,
I sure wish I could have used my V-3 Magneto chrono............... ::)

I got another of the little chronys... for two reasons. I couldn't imagine being without it for one. I also wanted to see if the one I had was accurate, although everything I've read where they've been compared to fancier ones indicated they were, or close enough to be within the margin of error.
The second one is the same as the first. They're interchangeable. I use both during my shooting sessions and see no disparity in results.
In the literature for them they include a warning, however, about what may affect the accuracy of the results... like vapor from residue in the gun, or smoke from a PB gun. If your air gun has any residual oils in it it will produce such vapor in the air blast and could affect the resulting readout. If I were in doubt I'd, very carefully, set up the chrony and gun and fire it from a foot or two away.
-
I bought one a few weeks ago. Fantastic value for $30!
-
I got one of these and it came in. Lot smaller than I thought. Though perfect for muzzle mounting.
I was surprised it was right on with my pro chrony.
I did pop the top off hoping there would be some kind of easy hack to switch from m to f, but couldn’t see anything obvious. (Like the Yong Heng thermometer from c to f).
In my opinion, money well spent.
Dave
-
I shot my 22 Varmint over my Magneto V-3 and then shot over my muzzle speed meter,
keeping everything the same and the readings between the 2 only varied 5-6 fps,
so I do believe that this little muzzle meter is as accurate as my V-3.................. ;)

Muzzle mounted mine sideways so I can use my scope to hit my targets. My F1 chrony & Xcortech chrony are now gathering dust. NO complaint paying $3.49 at eBay with the HAPPY25 code.👍🏽

Curious to know if anyone has tried one of these clamped securely to the barrel of a break barrel.
Especially on one with a strong recoil.
My concern is that a Walther Parrus or Benjamin Mayhem 22 might lead to its untimely demise.
Thanks
Ed
-
I have used mine on several break barrels, and .50 cal big bore, it still works great.
-
Mine is the kind to clamp. Nevertheless, I just rest the muzzle over the open clamps.
-
Just received mine after seeing all these positive experiences, and did quick a test comparing the cheap-o chrony to my F-1, using an airsoft rifle firing 0.25g BBs, 5 shots each:
F-1 (feet per second) 402.7, 396.5, 400.4, 399.7, 398.6 - average 399.6 fps / 121.8 ms
Cheap-o Chrony (meters per second) 121, 121, 121, 120, 121 - average 120.8 ms / 396.3 fps
Looking very promising, and unlike the F-1 it doesn't care about fluorescent lighting!
Naturally you're getting readings to the nearest meter while the F-1 is giving you the nearest 0.03 meters so there is a bigger margin of error but quite impressed so far.
-
Tried it with something more serious and got some weird results.
FX Streamline 0.22" with 200 bar fill and JSB Jumbo Heavy 18.13 grain pellets.
Power Level II - 210, 210, 213, 211, 211 - average 211
Power Level III - 204, 207, 207, 205, 208 - average 206
This gives and average of 692 fps / 19 ft lbs for the medium power setting and 676 fps / 18 ft lbs for the high power setting.
I haven't compared it to another chrony yet but something is definitely off, fired into the same piece of plywood the base of the pellet is about 4mm from the surface at medium power and 8mm at high power, so it's impossible that it's shooting slower.
It's also well below the expected performance of this model:
I tried in different types of lighting and with the device ether clamped to the barrel or resting on a surface and got similar results.
Needless to say I'm rather disappointed after my initial enthusiasm.
Anything else that might be affecting the measurement?
-
I have a Chrony Beta Master and it can be somewhat of a pain to set up and one of these small muzzle speed meters would be convenient I'm skeptical of their accuracy. That plus the fact that reads mps instead of fps is the reason I don't own one.
-
I wanted one but could not compleat the order form . After 3 true front 3 venders at aliexpress I gave up.
Now I had lding out to see if another cadwell goes on sale at amazon. I missed the del posted here when they dropped to like 69 $ on a one day sale.

I see a lot of that . But like everything there's that lemon someone got to get.
How long was the shipping time from Amazon? When I was looking they were priced more but the shipping times were forever like over a month+
If them shipped like normal in 3 to 5 days the extra cost would be worth it ( opinion). But seemed to be on the same slow boat from china.

It was L O N G!
It was so long that I actually forgot that I had ordered it. One day it showed up on my doorstep. " What's this?"
" Oh, it really came."
I think four weeks or so.
Shipping has gotten faster now, I ordered a carbon fibre tube to stiffen a barrel, it came in two weeks via China post.

Looking through this topic (https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=137273.0), it seems that the results I got for power level II on the Streamline were probably spot on, JoeKool reported 695 fps with the same pellet and I calculated 692 fps with this chrony. There must be something with the power level III interfering with the reading, perhaps it's the muzzle blast. More testing to follow over the weekend.

It is hard to tell from the instructions, but the muzzle should away from the first LED, not right up close.

FWIW I’ve used the clamp-on version extensively for about a year now and I don’t think it has ever missed a reading. Somehow it seems really tolerant of muzzle blast, even the cold cloudy vapor of a wasteful CO2 airgun.

That does not seem to be the case with mine.
I tried again with the 0.22" Streamline at high power with the muzzle 7 inches away from the first sensor and now it seems to be making sense.
I got this 5 shot string in meters per second: 258, 262, 260, 260, 259 for a 259.8 average.
This translates to 852 feet per second and 29 ft lbs which is much closer to what I was expecting.
I will compare it to a "proper" chrony soon to see if that is the case.

I have 4 chronographs, China clamp-on, ProChrono Pal and 2 Caldwells.
I use the China clamp-on the most and it works good.
Maybe I should have bought the tripod model so I could shoot groups while testing muzzle speed.
The clamp-on model changes the point of impact of the pellets.
There is no danger of shooting the clamp-on model.
Both of my Caldwells give incorrect and inconsistent velocities from -1% to +3%.

If you go to aliexpress and read the specs on a bunch you may see how some may do more then others. Like some are 600mps up to one that's a 1400mps 80 shot counter and what ever.
There just too man to read over to find the ones with the higher options .

The unit listed in reply #466 is $43(+1 shipping). It does say that you can get a 20% discount for a order of ten ( I think? ). That would be $(430 - 86) or $344 plus shipping.
If you get a group buy together with your local buddies then it could be about $35 each.
You won't know exactly until you place the order, get the discount and add in the shipping.

Further to this, I tried the same rifle and pellet combination with a Caldwell Ballistic Precision Chronograph, indoors with halogen lighting.
I got this 5 shot string in meters per second: 262, 262, 263, 263, 262 for a 262.4 average.
Close enough but a little high in comparison, so I tried the medium power setting.
The Caldwell gave an average of 212.4, compared to an average of 211.0 for the Cheap-o Chrony.
I would call that sufficiently accurate for my purposes.

???... This thread is long winded bit it seemed guys tested these with there caldwell's and pro comps and called it good.inside of margin of error
But with anything you could get back hat 1 in a million lemon .
Thing is parts used. Like the sensor or do the led color match to the sensor ,software used jap components or junk china ,ect... But then guys here claimed there's did as well as the caldwell's they have for a fraction of the price . And your not buying the name just a working unit.
-
I think that for many of us the extra cash is hard to justify for this accessory. You need a cronograph of some kind to tune an airgun. So for some of us it's this or nothing. It's not better in some ways, but it is affordable.
I HAVE shot a Caldwell, I never shot the clamp on.

For me it's not something I would use a lot to warenet spending 80 -100 bucks on just a time to time check something with where these cheaper units would do .
Ya, I assume there all from china but you not buying the name caldwell or pro comp
Maybe same base electronic but not in a big brand design tin box or fancier software or a app.
Also at aliexpress the overviews most all got DIY in them . So I thought are they made at some guys home in china?

Just an update on fixing the meter just in case you shot out one of the blue IR leds (who me?). I had a few Directv remotes laying around and smashed it open to reveal the blue IR leds up front (under the red plastic) just in hope of finding a part that would work. It did!
Process: Desolder the old led but pay attention to the orientation of the anode and cathode (both leds are oriented the same). Once the replacement led is removed from the remote, orient the leads through the holes as per previous led. Solder back in and you're good to go. For those techies, the meter needs and led around a Vf of a little over 1 volt to light these, so the replacement spec is important, but the better when it's already in the house....

wow well done!

A huge shout out to you brother! Thanks for responding to my PM. Fixed my chrony today thanks to you. This is what you shared with me:

What a timely post about replacing "infra red" led on chronograph. I have an old AT&T remote for Uverse. I'm about to break into it to rob the bulb. I didn't understand your comment about "orientation" of anode and cathode etc. I know NOTHING about electronics, but can solder, and I want to give it a try. Does it make any difference which leg I solder in which hole on the chrony?
If you can shoot me a picture or a better explination.
Longtime member as Hawkeye51. Any help is appreciated, thanks so much. Oh by the way, I've had mine for over a year & love it. Need it today to tune a gun.
Yeah, it does. Just look at the other good LED bulb up real close. There is a thick part and a smaller part inside the led. make sure they are oriented the same way when you look at them down the line. Google LED anode cathode, you can pull up some pictures and diagrams. You'll need to look at the LED up close to see it. You'll see a bigger internal part and a smaller one. That's what I was referring to. When you line the two leds up looking down the barrel so to speak, both leds will have the cathode (bigger internal part) on the left looking down range through the speed meter.

FYI,
I bought the same stuff a couple of months ago at about $32. After over a month, the device arrived and didn't work at all. I contacted Aliexpress but they wouldn't issue a refund. They wanted me to send it back at my own cost to fix it. I refused to do that. Besides, it was a DIY product. If I were you, I'd stay away from this seller.
Hope this helps.
-
Interesting for sure. But it’s a $30 china device. I would not expect a refund unless you go through fleabay.
If mine breaks, I will throw it away and buy another. For my purpose, it works much better than a chrony.
-
I bought mine through Amazon. I would have returned it iit had been bad.
-
Got mine off amazon
Works as avertised and delivered in 5 business days.
The guy who translated the instructions here in this thread did right and they work . Satisfied.
-
Got mine Friday evening. It works. I'm evidently not fast enough to click on 444.4 to increase the display time, but aside from that it's good.
-
This is why Amazon is typically my first choice when buying stuff: simple returns!
I don't know if it's just a Prime membership thing or not, but just about everything is "free return". I particular love the available option of returning via a Kohl's store. No need to box up and dealing with return labels on anything!

I've had mine for about 18 months now and have hit it a few times. I realized this happens when I am shooting from a "short" distance, in other words about 2 feet away. I used to shoot a lot closer but often saw the unit shake from the air blast, so I got used to backing off to about 2 feet. But - this is a risky distance because of the difference in height between the bore axis and the sights... at 2 feet, if your sights are aiming through the center of the opening, the pellet is actually going fairly close to the lower platform on the unit. It's even worse with a scope since they're typically up higher than iron sights. I really should aim for the top portion of the unit, but that scares me since it seems like I'm intentionally trying to hit it lol.
I hit the unit twice, both times were glancing blows off of the rear half of the top surface of the lower portion of the unit (houses the circuit board, display, etc). The plastic broke but the pellets didn't hit any electronics. Both shots also dislodged the rearmost red filter (it's just hot glued in). After disassembling the unit twice (once after each hit) to repair it, I decided to upgrade it with some armor plating so that hopefully I won't have to fix it ever again. Since every shot has been on the upper surface of the lower portion, I glued some 16 gauge sheet steel over the plastic there. The armor has protected the unit from at least two more strikes (I can see two lead streaks on the steel now lol).
-
The Avenger I just bought is too fat at the end of the shroud and gas tube to fit into the u-bolt of the clamp-on chronograph. It also makes it a little tricky to just rest the barrel on the bottom part of the clamp and still not hit the top. However, I do have a $1.98 camera tripod, and I epoxied a 1/4" x 20 nut onto the bottom of the chrony. So far I haven't shot it.
-
I bought one some time agao. I didn't know it was a DIY product. It's a piece of junk and not working at all. I asked for refund. aliexpress sought 100 excuses for shifting the blame to me. The seller cannot be trusted. I'll stay away.
-
Thank you for this.
After some time, I could hear something was loose inside. Another while and the thing stopped working. Opened it and turned out the minus cable of the battery had come loose from the soldering. Apparently the battery is fixed just with a cable tie. Required soldering the cable back to board.

[/quote]
-
I have 2 of these chrony, the versions that attach to the barrel.
No risk in shooting it if they attach to the barrel.
With the second chrony I noticed that it needs to be attached perfectly straight with the pellet trajectory otherwise would not detect the pellet.
I paid for each about $22-$23 from Aliexpress.
They are great.
I attached them to tkicker moderators using packing tape and it works.

Does the Jiajukuan chrono show energy in joules on the display ? How do you get this because I know you can ?

Does the Jiajukuan chrono show energy in joules on the display ? How do you get this because I know you can ?
Page 3 theres a English downloadable manual i believe...
Seems like my bolt on you push the buttons a certain way and it will. I only check mps and convert to fps so i really cant recall the excat how to.
Some guys say theres can do mps and fps by pushing the buttons and start up ?

Here is a copy of the instructions. See the second page under "Kinetic Energy Test Instructions: (projectile weight input needed)" for specific button pushing and when to push them to get energy in joules. You must input your pellet weight in grams (not grains) to get the proper reading.
-
I shot the back diode off of my first one. I replaced it with one from Amazon which turned out to be different version. It has 4 digit display and does FPS as well as MPS. It also does joules.

Thank you for your responses :D I have a front-clamp chronometer and didn't know how to get the energy display in joules
-
In this video the result in Joules is displayed automatically. How ? youtube.com/watch?v=k8DguVWxTwY
-
The units all look identical but i seen slight difference ill assume in the firmware flashed to them .
Like i said some can do fps as well as mps.
Some do like up 600mps some do up to 999.
All i do is mps and convert to fps ...lol. I don't really care about energy or what ever.. im just glad mine does mps correctly without having errors.
Anyway mine will do energy. But at start i got to hit a button to change the reading as i want . It defaults at start up to mps.
For $25-30 im good with it for my need . So far it's worked as expected.
-
In Poland there is a limit of 17J and therefore the display of kinetic energy is important to me ;)
-
I see....
Well they all should do it but ots how round about to display the reading. Maybe auto or maybe push buttons to set ot to do it..
To be honest i never tried the settings on mine outside of mps.....
-
Maybe someone will speak up who knows the way to do it ? ;)
-
Well up until these bargain cronies became available , we took the MPS or FPS, and the pellet weight in grains and entered them into a math equation.
Or use one of these calculators. https://www.airgunsofarizona.com/Calcs.html (https://www.airgunsofarizona.com/Calcs.html)
-
I know these calculators. I also use the CalcAirgun application myself. However, I am curious how to start it in the chronograph?
-
Maybe someone will speak up who knows the way to do it ? ;)
Well we gave you the directions to down load.
I've seen them available in other languages as well.
Then it's just the slight difference in what firmware yours may have on the one you got.
Like one at start if a P displays you hit a button and it changes from mps to fps .
I think mine after start up you press and hold a button to change from mps to enegry and so on... Mine does a few things but i just dont use them. I get mps and convert to fps ) mps x 3.28 = fps) or somthing like that. If i have a calculator its all even faster and easy.
-
I just hate pushing one button to get different results >:(
-
Thanks, it is probably a firmware issue though. Unless there are still some secret shortcuts that we don't know ? It's certainly more convenient to have the auto display option. However, if it does not exist, no problem ;)
-

Lol... Ya, probably why i just turn it on do mps and self convert from that..
Id have more time in remembering how and when to push or hold a button ...😁

If I recall correctly, there were some slight differences between the tripod and clamp versions.
My clamp on fell off (I didn’t realize how much a Texan recoils) and the negative battery lead needs to be soldered back on. I need to figure out everything necessary—never soldered anything.

I have used my clamp on with my Wing Shot shooting slugs, for about 8 shots, I did make sure it was very snug, was not brave enough to try birdshot, but on a 5 yard test shot it looks like the BBs would more than likely clear the sensors, I do want to test different BB loads sometime, but may use the Caldwell for that with a guard in front.
-
I added thin rubber tire tube strips in the clamp. The gamo would work it loose .
I also slid sillycone tubing on to the u bolt once but the thin rubber strip/ pads seemed tto be better?. Anyway the gamo with the whisper fusion baffle did not loosen it off near as fast if at all.
Also i now dont clamp it on i can see if tighten too much the circuit board d can easly get snapped , cracked
So be mindful of that when twisting down the wing nuts..

youtube.com/watch?v=pE5Xv5jmiXk In this video the guy showed that he replaced the metal clamp with two pieces of rubber
-
I put a wrap of Self-Fusing Silicone Rubber Electrical Tape around the shrouds, originally to protect the shroud finish from being scratched by the metal mount. It keeps the chrono from moving from the recoil, but let’s me adjust its position without having to loosen the screws.
When I’m done, the tape comes off easily so I reuse the same pieces of tape the next time.

It looks like he used O-rings. I think the video is in Polish, which I do not understand.
I’d like to know how he keeps the rings in place when not being used.
I’ve tried to figure out how to make the mount work like the FX chrono does. The metal mount scratching the shroud finish still concerns me.
-
I think it's more likely to be hair elastics ;)
-
Just too bad you cant just hook a cable to it to a phone just if its only for a read out.
My poor eyes its hard for me to read it's screen when shooting .. i did add that can dboard cover roof to make it more pronounced.. i think theted a timer for how long it stays on between shots , but im too lazy to even set that..
-
I'll jump in, the similar unit I bought from Amazon or Ebay will do power in Joules, but setting the pellet weight is difficult at best. The instructions are horrible, it lacks preceision in entering the weight, and it is just difficult all around.
All that said, I've only had a handful of missed readings and if you have a power limit, I'd calculate your maximum speed for that weight and just work backwards. Write the maximum right on the pellet tins so you know that you aren't supposed to go above this speed. This is how I would approach a power limit issue. Otherwise I write my string on paper and sit down later to calculate the power using one of many different applications. I normally convert to FPS at the same time.
I want to say just get an FX radar since it is easy to enter pellet weight, select MPS or FPS and have energy level right on the screen, but I've had more than 50% missed reading on slugs. I made a mod to mine that might help, but been to cold to care to test it. With a new rifle and some mods to previous rifle, and warmer weather coming back, I should be tuning again soon and know if my mods were worth the $6 I spent to power it differently. Testing after making the mod showed that it could track my hand moving rapidly about 75%, which isn't bad for a soft target moving slowly. Still wishing for a Labradar.

Here is the directions directly from the downloadable instructions. Not sure why the original poster did not download them and then read them but here they are. I agree that the directions are a pain to follow but it can be done as I changed mine to read in joules to check the instruction before I issued the chinese translation.
Kinetic Energy Test Instructions: (projectile weight input needed)
1: Additional speed energy measurement mode: When the power is turned on, while
the display indicates -SU, “short press” the function button and 0.0 (g)will
be displayed. Each “short press” increases weight by 1 gram. "Medium press"
the function button again so the green indicator light blinks twice will
reduce the number by 0.1 gram.
For example, to input 1.6 grams: first input 2 grams, then reduce the second
digit 0.4 grams, completing the input of 1.6 grams.
After the input is completed, "long press" the function key for 3 seconds to
Save and exit. The indicator panel LED red light prompts that the save
completed successfully.
The result displayed directly after measurement is in meters per second. At
this point, you can “short press" the function button to switch between
speed and energy modes. Do not operate or "long press" function key or it
will directly enter the test state again.
Here is a description of the duration of button pushes
Panel Introduction
The panel consists of the digital display, a function button, and a LED indicator light.
The function button has three types of input:
A: “Short Press": Push and release within a second.
B: “Medium Press”: Push and release within 2 seconds. The indicator light
flashes green twice.
C: “Long Press”: Push and release after 3 seconds. The indicator light flashes
green three times.
The LED indicator is divided into 2 colors.
A: If the color of the light is red, the digital display is in joules.
B: If the color of the light is green, the digital display is meters per second.

Is what i see.. heck maybe more in all these pages.
Heck now i wonder back when i f i got the right one ....lol...?

I have been looking back thru this old thread for answers to basic question with no luck.
Will the clamp on model work on a break barrel with open sights such as D34 and clones or will the sights be in the way?
There are different stores and prices on the site. Any recommendations on the best store?
-
I sometimes have to mount them upside down, makes it tricky to flip n read quick LOL but you can go back and get the string.
-
I’ve mounted it at an angle and it was fine. Easier to read.
With a break barrel, I don’t know if any position is good unless it securely affixed. I also haven’t used it on a break barrel.
-
I ise ot on a r9 and a gamo with the large baffle each with a front sight/ globe.
But i just set it on the bench without the ubolt / clamped on and rest the barrel on it properly and shoot .
I dont care about hitting a target just to get a shot string.
Ill also bet on a springer bolted on the tecoil shock would damage it just as easy as a cheap scope.
So i just dont mount it. I did at first but then that part clicked after my first string new then never again.
-
Yeah that’s probably the best suggestion for springers. Maybe even secure it to the table. I didn’t do that with the big bore and wish I had.
I got a Caldwell for $80. I figured even if I fix/get a new one, it is more fragile and hard to mount/use on some rifles and pistols. Sometimes I do want to see accuracy while measuring the speed.
-
Thanks. I was thinking that about just resting the barrel on it. I assume the muzzle only needs to be flush with the mount.
These have been out awhile. Do other chrono models have replaceable batteries? These look like a good deal but I guess I’d be asking if it might be worth it to pay more for one with a possibly longer lifespan. I have never owned or used one. Tried chrono connect with no success.

Ya, i can see that of your gun is adjustable on the fly. I guess of you shoot a string and ot checks out and your hitting the bullseye its the same mounted or not ... I guess 🤔
To the batteries being replaced i dont guess ive seen anything on that. I guess ot could be soldered in or a can't get in the usa. That's my luck none to be found anywhere..
Youd think someone had took it apart to see and posted it somewhere .
For what it is and so far worked for my need ay $30 its fine.
Now if was a big shot air gunner and had several guns or did reviews id just invest in one that has the options like Bluetooth and thrills, but backyard just to keep check on seals or what not and run a 5 or 10 shot string every few months it does that job fine.
-

If you can afford it I recommend you get the $80 Caldwell one. It's nice to be able to chrony and shoot for accuracy at the same time, and it's also very nice not to have to manually record your shot strings if you want to analyze them in a spreadsheet. Last time I had my $30 one out I also noticed I had to wait a few seconds between shots for it to record properly, which can get annoying if you are shooting long strings or rapid-firing CO2 guns. If I had it to do again I would have just started with the Caldwell.
The Caldwell uses a single 9V battery, which will likely be more expensive in the long run, as the cheapo is rechargeable. It probably wouldn't even be worth it to replace the rechargeable battery given the cost of the unit, but I doubt that would ever be needed unless you are using it a whole lot.
I think the price fluctuates a lot on the Caldwell so maybe do a camelcamelcamel alert.
But at the end of the day, the $30 chrony is better than no chrony!

Just what i see better have a android device
Apple looks to be near no support.
A guy here just got one and i guess ipad aint a go.. guy with new hw80 posted here.
Anyway somthing to look at before you buy.
That other brand may be better supported on a device Bluetooth? Just costs more .. (?)

Here’s the battery. It is unmarked. Looks like a typical small device Li-ion battery.

Thanks..
I looks hard wired in ....
Then would not be surprised if a replacment battery delivered cost as much or more the the whole unit did ...lol...
-
Yeah. I suspect with typical use, especially if it is frequent enough to keep the battery at the half-charged level, the thing will last a decently long while.
Can’t recall when I got it, but I think at least a year so far. Course, now I gotta solder back the disconnected -ve lead before it is usable. I held it to the contact and it still turns on fine.

Mine s year or so old and i dont use it much, bit i do hook ot up for a short time as i go to keep it up .theres no charge indicator bit the light on the cord thats on all the time anyway..
Heck i may just use it today just to use it...

I have considered the Caldwell Units. But looking at posts where errors were common on read outs and people installing them inside with special lighting so they work better, well, I just go outside and shoot for fun. The bolt on the barrel seem easy to use, help me find a problem quicker have fun seeing what velocity is and a bargain so I may try one. Can’t believe I never saw these before. I would still like to more about them all. That’s for the advice and input guys.

Here's a review on the one I bought. I clamp on barrel. Glued some foam padding where barrel rests and threaded plastic tubing over loop wire. There's a thread on GTA converting the manual to English. It reads in MPS so has to be converted.

I Ordered the clamp on model thru WM.com. $35.90 with tax. I have a new spring and seal I got from Mike FDA for my Blackhawk which has a burnt seal and spring broke at the 2 rear coil. I am glad I hadn’t gotten around to fixing it yet. Now I can do a before and after velocity string. Thanks again guys.

I don't buy from Amazon; tried to buy some MP3 tracks and they decided they didn't like my money; refuse to accept my card... ::)
I've found it at walmart; except the price isn't quite the same as the one Nick mentioned; if he got it at walmart-https://www.walmart.com/ip/SPHET-Shooting-Speed-Tester-16-37mm-Muzzle-Velocity-Meter-Velocimetry-Measuring-Tool/816778435 (https://www.walmart.com/ip/SPHET-Shooting-Speed-Tester-16-37mm-Muzzle-Velocity-Meter-Velocimetry-Measuring-Tool/816778435)
But plenty cheap enough, don't really need one right now-but if when (LOL) I dibble into PCP's it will be a necessary accesory.

That is odd. If I go to Walmart.com I can see the one from the SPHET vendor and also the $3 cheaper from GreatNewMall vendor. Different vendors different prices but it seems like all vendors would load. Maybe geographical on what the page loads?

It is; walmart's software will deliberately alter what you can and cannot see (know this for a fact; have proven it many times) based on location and your browsing history-but that is another matter not pertinent to this thread ;)
Still can get one for a good price; so I'm happy ;D

Mine lasted over a year. Before Christmas the main button, on/off various function failed. Stuck in the depressed position like you are turning it on or off.
I certainly got my $30 out of it though.
I ordered another off fleabay.

I have the clamp-on model.
I wish I had bought the tripod model because you can shoot groups and test speed at the same time (if you are careful).
The groups change location using clamp-on model, but it is a good speed tester.

Just an FYI, I bought the following and it stopped working properly the third time I used it. It only gives the first three readings, after that it gives a "--". I thought it was just an error and shot a few more times but got the same reading. I restarted the unit a few times and each time it has the same issue. I know about not having the muzzle too near the first diode, so that is not the cause. Too bad, it does speeds to the tenth 0.1, MPS, FPS and Joules, I was excited. Also, the screws for the bracket are too short to work with the shroud, about 1 cm shorter than my other broken unit. So, buyer beware.

I have this same model I purchased last year. I took that top barrel bracket off and glued a piece of open cell foam onto bracket base. I then threaded a piece of tubing over u-bolt. I clamp it on the end of my barrel this way and I am able to shoot with no interference in sight or POI. As far as adjustments go I can extend the display time to be more than the 5 sec which is stock. I am pretty sure mine only reads MPS like it states on top 1-999 m/s. When I got mine it was 32 bucks

I use different "mods" to help fit best barrels.
Like a tubing on the ubolt or pad on the yoke..ect.
now i just set it on the bench without mounting and shoot the trough it . all i need is a good string anyway from it.
.177 things got to be just right mostly light for them smaller pellets. .22 dont have much if any issues.

My original order never showed up; re-ordered from a different vendor on Walmart.com, got it today-on the charger now ;D
Happy to report; that it not only came with a manual in English; BUT it also reads in FPS too!!! 8) 8) 8)
Can't remember which one I got ATM; and my email application isn't working, so will have to link the one I got later; hopefully will have been able to try it by then too...
Woo-Hoo! ;D
Jesse
Edit-Email app is still not working; but she was almost fully charged-turn it on with a long press; wait until the screen shows "P5", tap the button once-presto! FPS readings...
Held it vertically; and dropped a BB through it with my fingers resting on top of the clamping block-4.2 FPS ;D
4.1, 4.3 4.4 etc.... 8)

Here's the one I got-just tried it on my 350 and it worked like a charm ;D

I have the barrel mounted model.
It works good, but if I was buying again, I would get the tripod model.
-
I have the clamp-on model but I like the tripod model better.
With the clamp-on model there is no danger of shooting it but it changes the point of impact when clamped to the barrel.
With the tripod model you can shoot groups while chronographing but you have to be careful not to shoot it.

Someone who knows about these things needs to check
if the chip on these things can be reprogrammed.
Fps only
FPE instead of joules
grain instead of grams (.1 res)
Longer shot string if enough mem
Wishful thinking i guess
I'd give $10 more for a reprogrammed one.
-
Thanks for the link.
-
For what it's worth most can switch to FPS by pressing the button after the unit goes through a system check and reads "PS". There's just a moment where this is displayed, so you have to be paying attention. Changing to FPS must be done every time you turn on the unit if that's how you want it to display.
-
Thats why I'm saying if sombody might be
able to program it the way we want.
I have 3, know how to operate.
fpe not joules
grains not grams

I'll be picking one of the fps models up already have the mps only one. I'll tear them apart to see if it's the same chip and if they are that means they can be programmed, to what extent who knows.

I wonder what the incremental cost would be to produce them with a wider and higher passage. Would make it a lot easier not to hit it.

That's why I bought the one that clamps onto the barrel.
The power for the LED's goes through the spacers. You should be able to replace these with anything electrically conductive.
You can remove the spacers that connect the top and bottom.
If you attach the top part to a square pvc pipe, or wooden frame, then attach the bottom part to the bottom of the pvc pipe or frame, then reconnect the electrical paths with small wires.

I presume you had to desolder the old one and solder in the new one? I’m not familiar with soldering—would appreciate any tips and links to equipment. I need to reattach the wire to the battery; it disconnected when the meter got blasted off the barrel and crashed to the ground.

Just tried the change to FPS on the SP display - thanks for the info
My tripod model has this SP option - the barrel mount one does not ( just displays _SU ) does not change to FPS.
I do not use the barrel mount one - single LCD bulbs on each end does not work very well if not mounted.

After being unable to find a Competition Electronic chronograph part 3810 to read to my computer, I started to look for an alternative.
30 pages later of reading I bought a Clamp On unit from Amazon. Unit is coming in on Cinco de Mayo.
Thanks especially to Matt and Paul for the downloads and to the rest of the crew for keeping this thread going.
