Title: Pelet gun golf?
Post by: George on March 12, 2012, 12:16:29 AM
Yesterday was a nice calm day in the am. Took out all 6 air guns to shoot and did well.Then I decided to sight in my m-rod 22 at fifty yds. I finally was shooting a 1/2 inch 5shot group using 21.3 barracudas. Then I took a golf ball and set it out at 70yds[measured with the range finder] in my pasture on a small board. Sitting on a chair with gun in the rest on table, I held 2 mil dots on ball pulled the trigger and it jumped off the board. Lucky shot? So I took another shot and ball jumped again. Must be real LUCKY? I could not stand it so I took another shot and it jumped again. This time I called it quits for I wanted to say I shot 3 for 3. Will try it again some time. These were the 15, 16,and 17 shot count from a 2900 lbs fill on the gun. MY average fps measured  on the chrony the week before was around 805 to 810 with the 21.3 barracudas .  The tune numbers. for this gun were given to me by fellow member Grimlama They are as follows;
                                                 1 Vel screw all way in then CCW 2.5
                                                 2 Hammer spring all way out CCW until it stops then go CW4.5
                                                    turns
                                                 3 Take hammer stroke all way out CCW until it stops  then go in
                                                     two turns

I will continue to shoot this pellet and tune until I find one better. Thank-you guys for all your help.

Shooting golf balls is majorly hazardous. It'll bounce that pellet right back to you. Great shooting though. Just pick a safer target.

I hope not from 70yds away. I did make a little mark so you could see where it was hit.

my brother and i were shooting a golf ball while killing time after school and before work.  We sat on the porch with a small table between our two chairs. shot the golf ball at about 20 yards, the pellet went between us, off the door behind us at an angle and in to a tree another 10 yards away..... dont shoot golf balls....

If you're gonna do that, def wear shooting glasses. I wear mine even shooting at the bb trap, which is about as safe as it gets.

I think paint balls are the best targets. Set them on long golf tees. No chance of ricochet.

Oh man I read the title and thought that sounds cool. Not shooting golf balls although it's fun with my 22-250 past 200yds.
But air gun golf if you had the space and a cart for all your different air guns.
Paper targets, silhouettes every hole could be a new challenge. ;D ;D

I've also always heard it's dangerous to shoot golf balls...

Paintballs, or little baggies filled with flour are always fun..
