Cocked springer for hunting

(1/2) > >>

Actually never did much hunting with my springers but thought I would get back onto it.  The question is leaving the rifle cocked.  I know it's not a good idea to keep a springer cocked but for how long?  In a hunting situation how long can you safely keep a springer cocked?  With the distances we are talking about while hunting cocking a undercover of break barrel very well may scare the critters away.  I don't want to hurt the rifles but thought I would ask how you guys handle this?

thanks

Back_Roads:
They can handle a day of being cocked while hunting, Have even left them cocked by the door for up to a month with out any noticeable reduction in power.

Ok thanks.  I have an r9 that can be uncocked but the BSA Superstar has to be shot.  It can not be uncocked with out shooting the round out.
So for an hour or so it's no problem at all right?

thanks

Back_Roads:
 No problem at all :)
