Value estimation of 2018 Diana M34 .22 with factory one piece mount and scope
DanD:
I picked up a refurb .22 RWS 34 T06 on sale from Pyramyd in the last year with no mount or scope. I thought I got a great deal on it and it cost more than the one you're looking at. I can't fault its performance- it has a great trigger, fine accuracy, and makes over 700 fps with midweight pellets. Mine is not date stamped and I think it is newer than 2018.
My only concern would be that the 2018 model might fall into the timeframe when the T06s were shipped with molding artifacts on one of the trigger parts, and they have excessive 2nd stage creep unless that part is stoned flat or replaced. And you're right about the modern RWS scopes being junk- the one that came on my Pro Compact rotated the reticle within several hundred pellets.
Overall I think the $150 gun is probably a good deal if it doesn't have any hidden unrepairable flaws like a bad barrel or something. Airguns aren't getting any cheaper these days.

I can test shoot the gun before buying but only a function check. Check for a decent trigger. Listen and feel for anything wonky going on in the cocking cycle. Observe penetration of pellets into a 2x6 off cut. This I can do before plunking down cash. I would feel much better to get a 24 or 48 hour return for refund and put one of my scopes on it for quick testing for grouping. If it wont group after a good cleaning and trying three or four different pellets then I know there are problems.
Jeff Marshall:
That sounds like a pretty decent deal to me!

Went to the shop with my neighbor who had me on the lookout for a good used springer. He was thrilled to get the1998 Diana M34 in .22 with the factory one piece base and rings with 4x garbage scope. $150 out the door. Other than three bb sized spots of surface rust it looked factory new. Took it home and straightened the scope and went to shooting. There was that strange smell from when my 1998 springer was new. The gun was dieseling and the group was erratic and loud. It dawned on me. The gun was never fired. Holy &^^& he got a new gun. A few more shots and it settled down to sub quarter sized ten shot groups with that absolutely horrible scope. I couldnt tell any difference moving the adjustable objective from seven yards to infinity. Dickering about with the ocular adjustment did little good. With a decent scope I bet it would put those Crossman domes in a nickel group at 25 or so yards. The trigger, a T06, is sweet. I was hoping he didn't want it because I did. Oh well, I got some good neighbor points and he got a good gun cheap.

For the whole story you can see my post at the end. Neighbor bought it for $150 out the door and is very happy with his purchase. Initially it was diesling with a bad grouping. Then there was that old familiar smell upon firing. The smell of factory oil in the compression chamber burning off. He got a new gun that had been sitting around!
