Both lost about 50 fps from unregulated, but more than twice the shot count. That's pretty close to where I had my Challenger Pro shooting. Mine liked both the NSA 24.8 and 27.5 grain dish tails and 950-1,000 fps seems to work really well. Not many air rifles at that price point that can send slugs that heavy that fast. Can someone please post a chrony string using the new regulator?

Thank you huntr, that chrony string isn't bad at all and very nice shooting on your part. I just re-checked what my chrony numbers were with the Challenger Pro and the extreme spread was about 4 fps over 12 shots while with your new regulator you got it's about 23 fps. Not bad, especially if you're shooting shorter ranges, but not quite as good as what the Challenger Pro got. As 35 shooter said, it may improve after its broken in.
Yes, more peace of mind. I still don't grab mine by the barrel, because the plastic set screws still allow some movement. Plus. those set screws don't allow much tension to be applied to the screw without rounding out the socket. They are Allen head, but I've had to resort to a Torx driver to get grip in the socket. That's not going to last forever.I'm replacing mine with metal set screws. Bison offers SS screws, but I'm going local and see if I can find brass. If not, I will try a crushable plastic plug in the bottom of the hole. Not sure that will work with the plastic threads of the barrel band. Still, better than no barrel band. When I fitted mine, they were a very snug fit. Now that I have removed and replaced them a couple of times in the process of playing with the regulator, they slide on and off fairly easily.
The way that one clamps instead of using set screws is a darn good idea. I would switch in a heartbeat if someone came up with a band like that for the Challenger. The plastic screws provided don't mar the air tube, but they don't hold tight, either. I'm not happy about digging into the air tube with the SS screws. Trying to figure a way to insert a 'cushion' ahead of the screw to bear against the metal surfaces. Tim Hill sells stop pins for the Marauder that go in the trigger guard hole and bear on the threads that adjust the hammer to keep it from self adjusting. I have them in my Marauders and they work. Not sure if the plastic threads in the Bison barrel band will hold up to the pressure it takes to compress something like that stop pin.
Thanks. Sent a contact message, let's see what happens.
My Challenger Pro liked 0.2175" slugs.I was told that AEA makes barrels at different quality levels. Supposedly, the Challenger and HP's were their "medium quality" barrels and the Challenger Pro was the next step up in quality. I'm not sure whether to believe it or not but has anyone else heard this?
