I did get the QD tool post several years ago for fast tool changes
I tell everyone to buy a used lathe. The biggest you can afford and shove into the space available. 30 years ago I bought a small Craftsman lathe for $400 with tooling. About 10 years ago I found a 14x40 Birmingham(Taiwan) for $700 on CL it came with 3 5 gal buckets of tooling, and was in like new condition. I drove 3 hours round trip. I sold my old Craftsman for $600.

Likewise here. I passed up on a really great Logan 820 (with QC gearbox!) - right in the middle and worst of the Covid-19 in 2020. It belonged to a deceased member (actually past president) of our loosely connected metalworking and model engineering club. Just too difficult to get help at the time. I guess I did not have sufficient commitment.

I guess I did not have sufficient commitment. i drove 750 miles to purchase my basket case Logan 820, also w/QC gears. I put it in my pickup truck and reassembled once I got home.Because it was disassembled it was easier to transport..Nice machine for a beginner.
