For the record. I wasn't complaining about anyone or accusing anyone here of lying. I was simply stating that showing only our best groups wasn't really "keeping it real". Threads like these can discourage people that believe that our best groups are our regular common place results. Worse is their can morph into threads that encourage the kind of baloney you see elsewhere. I think we should encourage others by showing a larger slice of our groups. This way we've given them our best and whatever else is on the page. I also agree with Lt. Dan 10 shot groups are a better gauge of the shooter and equipment. Particularly the shooter. With centerfire PBs I started with 3 shot groups and found that shooting 5 shot groups was mentally a lot tougher. Now I only shoot 5 shot groups to challenge myself. Airguns and rimfire I have always shot 5 shot groups at easier ranges because they become one big ragged hole (Hopefully) and are hard to read numbers of shots. At longer ranges were the groups are more open I'll jump up to ten to get a better idea of what's going on. Anyway I wasn't looking to offend anyone. I just wanted people to feel a sense of responsibility to present current examples of their best and not so best groups for the benefit of the community. That's all. We have several humble people here that already do that and I think that's far more admirable than someone only showing off the best groups they ever shot. Be well and have fun.
NCed. I find the same thing myself. Either a small dot by itself or a small dot within a circle makes a better aim point than an open circle. I use 3/4" in sorting dots at 100yds because they become small. In proportion I make pellet sized dots when shooting ten yards in the basement scoped. Pea sized so I can see them with peeps. Aim small, miss small. I'm going to see if I can print out those targets. Thanks for posting
After sighting in a different scope on my Diana RWS 460 .22 I shot these groups with JSB Exact Jumbo Diabolo 15.89 gr pellets at 30 yards.Five of the eight groups were dime size or less with the best group on 1/2" ctc.The wind what horrible today. Blowing WSW @ 17 mpg with gust to 25 mph.

What are materials do you use for those windflags. I had used trash bags cut into strips.
The vast majority of my guns have been shooting really well with Air Arms Diabolo Fields, so much so that I have been sort of re-zeroing them with the Air Arms pellets. Now the vast majority of my guns shoot well with H&Ns as well but the AA diabolo's have generally seemed a bit tighter or easier. I have been working on my HW30 Silver Deluxe and JUST haven't been shooting it well. I have been trying to get the Air Arms stuff sighted in, as it works well in my other HW30s. Well tonight I sat down and put up another frustrating group and decided to just go back to the H&N stuff. What an illustration of a gun absolutely preferring one pellet vs. another, even when both pellets are of reasonably high quality. In this case I think its pretty obvious which pellet this particular silver deluxe prefers. I was just REALLY trying to make the diabolos work for some reason instead of trying my old faithful. Again just an illustration of a given INDIVIDUAL gun not liking a certain pellet even though another of the same model shoots them just fine. I'll be honest as frustrating as this can be, its all part of the fun for me.

150 measured yards with a .177 HW97, OEM internals, 20x scope. The can is 2 inches by 4 inches. Hits about 1 out of every 3 shots.
