This is my Predom Lucznik WZ 1976 air pistol. It was manufactured by Zaklady Metalowe Predom-Lucznik in Radom, Poland from at least 1972 to about 1980 it is a copy of the Walther LP53. The parts are interchangeable but the LP53 is a much more refined gun.
I have resealed it and shot it for the first time today. Crony at 422fps average. Now it time to shoot some paper and see what it will do. I expect it to level off at around 400fps. My first six shots free hand at 25 feet.

These are a bargain in the market cause they copy a awesome design that is simple to work on. They are very well made, not the quality of Walther but well made.

I got three NOS ones for $75 when they hit the market some years back. They even threw in a free Polish flare pistol.

I bought one from AoA a while back. It is my first springer and it is a beast with very strong springs. Other sites had mentioned finding bolts, screws, etc in the chamber and sure enough mine had a wood screw embedded in the piston. I replaced the leather seal and reduced the transfer port size as suggested on another forum.
If you ever buy one I suggest to open it up to check for "stuff" where it doesn't belong before shooting it much.

When I first got mine, I fired it with a Hobby pellet. Immediately afterword I opened the breech and saw bits of leather and other debry in the barrel and lots of SMOKE. I took it apart and the piston seal was a total bust. I made a new piston head out of brass and designed a piston seal out of teflon; something like a Webley. I finally got everything back together and dried fired it 3 times to "set" the piston seal. I have since misplaced the pistol; its in the garage somewhere and I am trying to locate it now. I think these are really cool old guns and I bought three others that are like new. I hope to locate mine the next week or so. I sent off for a new plastic piston seal from some place in Poland, but it hasn't got here yet. James Bond would be PROUD!!!......................

Is there a best way to adjust or improve the trigger on these?

no, the trigger was a direct sear design i believe. It was heavy, in the 5 to 8 lb range on the one i had. By the way. 422 fps is absolutely smoking on that gun. most of them shot in the low to mid 3s. really cool, shame i sold mine but they dont come up for sale that often anymore.

John, when you resealed your Predom, did you make a leather seal similar to the original or did you get one of the green parachute seals from Poland?............................

I made a delrin O-ring piston cap for one of mine . Just machined the cap by trial and error on my lathe, and found a O-ring to fit the groove I cut in it. when Century was selling those ,you got three for $100 bucks and they threw in a bayonet to make the $100. A $100 bucks was the minimum order they would take , so that's why you bought the surplus bayonet. It was great for metal detecting digging...

Back in the late eighties I was a newby starting out in the movie business in Hollywood. I had to pick up a load of props from Mole Richardson a famous prop house in Culver City. While walking through their storage rooms I caught a glimpse of crates filleed with old prop guns, some clearly made from airguns. I wasn’t very knowledgeable about airguns in those days so I couldn’t begin to describe what was there.
My question is. Is that stuff still there? Mole was notorious for never parting with anything. It could be a treasure trove of vintage airguns with a really cool provenance!

Ray,
Stevoo (screen name) has several post on the Walther LP53. The PL is similar design, but no parts interchange, but the piston is about the same diameter. Here are the links. I created the third one hoping to document the process. I don't have new spring guides yet so mine still has stock springs.

I want to clarify the info in my link from above. I did not install the tube and then cut it while it was in the frame. I did cut a piece, sand the angle on it and installed it with red loctite.
Also, note the small rollers on the end of the cocking arm that could easily be lost upon disassembly.
