Title: Timed Shooting Matches for SemiAuto Airguns?
Post by: mrbulk on November 06, 2020, 09:14:51 PM
You know how they have those rapid-fire qualifying sessions to get into some matches at RMA? Not sure how this works overall, just going by some of the RMA videos I watched.

I was wondering if there could eventually be something similar here for rapid-fire (semiauto) airguns, like best 10-shot group under 30 seconds or something?

And at what distance do you think something like this should be shot from? Just wondering what different opinions there might be.

I think something like this would be fun, could have different classes in both pistol and rifle.
Could do 5 meters for pistol and 10 meters for rifle.  Or ?

Yeah!!! I was thinking a highly informal, anyone can use any airgun kind of thing. Crosman 1077, Benji SAMrod, even a cock-and-shoot bolt action if you’re real fast... ;D

Just for fun. If it catches on then later they could formalize categories and stuff.

I have learned that a timed event can significantly affect the skill of some shooters. In Both ways... ???

Ok how about some Red Rider action, 10 can’s in ???
I’ll try ten once it stops raining and see how fast I can do it.

Sounds good Jesse! Hey are you gonna time yourself? If so then we could set up parameters to make it inclusive of Red Riders too...  ;D

I went upstairs to my 10 meter range and tried the 10 in 30, I used the GTA 10 meter off hand rifle target with 5 bulls .
2 in each bull for 10.

I did not make the 30 second time but did get 31.50 with a score of 92/100.
I'm sure I could get faster with practice the Wifi has such a bad trigger it’s a challenge and to try to do it in 30 seconds is fun.

Ya know what Jesse, for a BB gun all the way out at 30 feet and having to cock for every shot Plus it's actually a springer to boot, and then doing all this under the pressure of being a timed event - priceless!

Was this shot offhand or rested?

Been a little busy lately but now I gotta go find time to actually try this out with my trusty CR1077... ::)

Charlie, the Benjamin Wildfire is a PCP take off of the 1077 with the same bad trigger, I just shortened it up calling it the Wifi. I will need to do the BB gun thing out doors and I think more around 5 meters for BB guns.  30 seconds is not enough for that.

So try your trusty CR1077 we should have a good start.

Oh I see now Jesse, I was going off your earlier comment about trying it with the Red Ryder. And here I thought Wifi was only about internet stuff. Guess I gotta get out in the (airgun) world more... ;D

Will try it out this weekend maybe.
