Well I’ve made oring pistons for my Crosman & daisy pumpers I rebuilt before ’ So I thought I would follow NCED’ & Héctor Medina’s lead & make one forR7D2’ I made a (dead) tune’ snug guide’ I have a Jm 3650 or turantula I can remember I have both the OD is .790 & the Vortek equivalence’ with a piston Liner made out of .006 steel shim stock with my oring piston’ It’s the most Docile’& accurrate springer I’ve tuned’ it’s only going 525fps right now butR7D2 shoots so good & has already taken about 15 scahwerls’ you can’t Argue with results’ That is all’
Thx for your comments NCED’ I dont like the small cross section rings because I’m afraid they Will roll or mess up faster causing serious damage’ Im not sayin they won’t werk or out perform’ I’m just playing it safe’ I like the 3mm x 19mm ringsThey seal good as for the chrono says’ & act as bearing surface for the piston To glide true’ if you have any comments or insight let me know or pm’I’m not running a tune shop or trying to make money’ I’m just a tinker’& It seems we might think the same & be on the same page’I’m only doing this rifle it’s my fav’ But I think I’m gonna de-stroke my 48Into a .22 cal R7 or 50s’

Seems to me that the cocking pressure is greatest a the "latch rod end" and the "piston seal end" just "goes along for the ride". I do agree that the larger 3/32" cross section oring will tolerate "sloppy fitting" better than a 1/16" cross section oring so use whatever works best for you? Concerning "1/16" cross section oring issues"...........I've found that a properly fitted and lubed 75 durometer size 020 military spec Viton oring will outlast a good aftermarket spring without degrade. Properly fitted for me means <10% compression when installed (vs the normal 15%-25% for a dynamic seal) and a groove width of .080 vs the recommended width of .093-.098.http://allsealsinc.com/pdfs/Dynamic-oring-glands.pdfHas worked well for me over a couple decades, even during the time living in WV where I shot about 10,000 14.5fpe (7.9 grain CPL at 910fps) shots per year. Anywhoo......when living in West Virginia my brother used his .177 R9 with oring sealed piston cap over 4 seasons without replacing the 020 oring, but he did replace one Maccari spring during that time. Personally, military spec Viton orings are cheap at about ten cents each so I simply replace my ring yearly if it needs it or not.
I have an Hw30 deluxe in .20 and it is one of my favorite plinkers. Not a power house by any stretch, but a fun gun to shoot, and tin cans go whack and 20 yards. It will bring a smile to your face at how accurate this gun is in .20 caliber. Even though its a low powered gun,..... in every caliber,...the accuracy is what has kept the rifle so popular for so long. Want it in .20, then get it in .20. You can always buy another one 😉
LONG LIVE THE .20 👍🏾
