I just re sealed a Crosman 180 and I'm having a problem with the valve. When I put in a fresh cartridge the hammer will not push the valve stem in, if I bleed off some Co2 first then the hammer opens the valve. It's almost as if I left the gun in the sun and the pressure got to high and the valve locked. Would anyone have an idea what would cause this? Thank you

Tired old hammer spring maybe? Or, like on my 187, a bent poppet stem. Are the parts in good condition, free of gunk/oxydation? Is the piercing pin free to move in the front valve half, is there a felt filter?

I think maybe it is the old hammer spring, the valve seems to operate nice and smooth and everything is good in the valve. I'm doing this for a friend, the gun hasn't been fire in 60 years. Thanks
