88 gram cartridge alternatives using HPA?

Are there any direct swap HPA tanks that I can use in something that uses 88 gram tanks? I would keep the fill pressure down near the CO2 fill pressures.
What about drilling and tapping an empty 88 gram tank and adding a foster nipple? Again, would keep pressures low.

You can buy adapters from 88 gr. to the standard Paintball/CO2 threads.... That will allow you to run a regulated HPA tank.... HOWEVER, make sure there is a 1.8K burst disc on the outlet side of the regulator to prevent more pressure than that from entering the gun in the event of a regulator failure....
The RWS/Hammerli 850 conversions use such an adapter.... I believe B&A have them in two different lengths....

I'm interested in something the same size and form factor as the 88 gram tanks. The Sig MCX has a fitted location for the 88 gr tank so not a lot of options to fit something else differently in there without major modifications.

I am not aware of any HPA tank the same dimensions as the 88 gr.... and they are not fitted with a burst disc to prevent overfilling them.... Even if you converted them to have the ability to be refilled, you could never get them filled commercially, although you could hand pump them.... You would also get a very small shot count compared to CO2, and have to deal with a different pressure each shot, so you would have to tune for a "bell-curve".... I don't think you would be very happy with the conversion.... In addition, I think you would find the wall thickness would be too thin to tap for a Foster fitting....

Thanks for clarifying. At this point I'm backing away from even wanting the gun that would use the 88 gram tanks. I didn't realize the MCX had such a low energy output (around 3 fpe). I'm going to wait and see what their HPA version will do whenever they realize any real specifications.

very late post but i use an MPX with a 13ci 1500psi output tank and have very good results and shot count, lotsa fun and cheap/easy fills with a small compressor or foot pump
