Title: Kral Mini Mega
Post by: BC81 on June 19, 2022, 11:12:38 AM
I figured I'd post this little guy up on here. This forum seems to like the one off guns more than other sites. We are more of the tinkerer/builder type on here.

Custom gun I put together from my mega rifle and an NP-03.

Has a mega receiver and trigger group, biathlon cocking lever from a Jumbo, and the barrel and air tube off an NP-03.

Sporting a DonnyFL Tanto up front.

Swapped out the hammer spring with a shorter/stiffer one and went from getting one mag in the low 900s with 15.89s, to now getting 3 mags with same pellets in the 850 fps range and considerably less noise and shot cycle vibration.

This is by far the least pellet picky rifle I have, and is very accurate with just about every thing I've fed it. It's going to make one heck of a squirrel gun.

Doesn't seem like Kral gets much love on the forums and they should. I own 3 now and all have been great guns with just a bit of tuning.

Cool build on that carbine  8) I kinda missed the boat on th Kral guns, pretty much thought I had the bases covered on what they had to offer ??? I doo keep thinking of getting a NP-3, now I may need more to do the Lego thing with them  ;)

Thanks Randall! Yes, it's way handier now. Definitely going in the woods with this one this fall.

I like that a lot! My Benjamin Cayden is the first Kral (I think Kral makes it) that I've owned, but it's also the most accurate pcp own.

Yep, kral makes them for crosman/benjamin. It's a very similar design, but the parts won't swap. The barrels come close, but the transfer ports don't align without significant oval porting.

Nice job!  What does it weigh?  The biggest complaint I have with my Mega is the weight.

Of course, hanging a 27oz. 8-32x56 Sidewinder 30 SF Riflescope on it doesn't help.

I havent weighed it yet, but definitely lighter with the smaller tube that is made of aluminum vs the long steel one.

My full size mega configuration with 6.5-20x42 scope is definitely a pig, even with the synthetic stock.

Just weighed the mini mega and it's 6.4lbs with Scope and a full magazine of 15.89s

That will be interesting.  Do you know which model he is using?  I'm guessing a puncher pro 500.

It's essentially a Pro500. Was an NP-500 which is a NP-03 barrel on a Pro500 action and a tactical stock but put my custom slug barrel on it and a Pro500 stock. Gun shot amazing with both slugs and pellets.

Regulated?  If so which reg?

Would you tell us about the barrel?

No regulator. I designed a mandrel a few months back for a new .22 slug barrel and just got the mandrel made. TJ is making them for me. It's a low friction 3 groove .217 groove .212 land 1-18" twist slug barrel but shoots pellets just as well.

Todd that's an awesome little carbine setup you have there no doubt 8)  You could easily carry that gun all day on a hunt if you wanted to.

Thanks! Yeah, it weighs in at 6.4lbs with scope and mag full of 18.21 grain baracuda hunters.

Already taken a few sparrows and 2 starlings yesterday with it. Handles and balances great. Not too light so it holds steady off hand.

I had a whole bunch of marauders and armadas when the Krals started making their way in the US market too. Very nice stalking gun you put together, I like how you robbed parts off a complete different model and they work. That's awesome. I hope you did well out at RMAC Troy.

Thanks Chris! I had an Mrod and fortitude at one point and several discos, just not my cup of tea because of length. I also had accuracy issues with the floated barrel design on the Mrod and Fort. Not an issue on the Kral guns. Here's an odd thing though. My akela had POI issues until I put an band on it, and my kratos can get off pretty easy, even though they're buily by kral.

Reximex builds the Benjamin guns but Kral family.

I ended up putting Hill barrel bands on all my Benji's. Problem solved.

Todd, what size spring did you use and where did you get it?

It came out of a kit of springs I got off eBay from a company called Swordfish. I'll check the dimensions when I get home and give you the specs. I never tried it in the full length barrel and airtube but I would bet it would really extend the number of shots and bring the bark down while keeping the power still pretty good.

This is the kit I bought, was suggested to me by BeauJames on here actually

https://www.ebay.com/itm/181941373759?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=0d0jQWdjSEa&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=bfxzi0rkqxk&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY (https://www.ebay.com/itm/181941373759?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=0d0jQWdjSEa&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=bfxzi0rkqxk&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY)

Spring I used was: .054"WDx.437"ODx2"L
It's shorter, stiffer, and smaller diameter but works great

Sweet !!

Did you had to do any adjustments to the stock to make it fit the NP03 action actually ?

I fancy the Kral Empire XS, kind of similar set up though more like a bullpup. I like your version way more since it is a standard stock one. Hence I'll check if I can buy the NP03 one too and then the stock only.

Nope, the action is from the mega rifle and the air tube and barrel is from the NP-03.

To swap just the stock to an NP-03 you would need the mega/jumbo trigger which is hard to find.
