No story of chewing "targets" here, but my father in law has a tree in the middle of his yards that has been a "squirrel rub" magnet for years. Time after time, they come across the grass, get on this one spot about 2 feet off the ground and hug and rub the bark. If he catches them doing it, he shoots them, but there is always another squirrel that will do it. A corn-cob feeder for squirrels mounted about on this spot years ago might have started the trend, but it was years ago and this still goes on.
Great shot! The few urban squirrels in my backyard like to Gnaw on the bark of my mango tree, I thought they were eating the bark instead of sharpening the dental work , right now they are having a feast eating all the rotting avocadoes left behind after the storm...
