My first was a Daisy 1894, around 1970? A year or two later, I got a Daisy Model 25, which I preferred. One of my buddies had a pump-up Daisy of some sort that made my rifles suddenly feel second-rate. I later saved some money and bought a Crosman CO2 pistol that looked like a S&W .38. My mom quietly confiscated and disposed of that one. I still have the Model 25.What surprises me is that I never thought any of these were inaccurate. I was excited to find my old Model 25 when we cleaned out my mom's house after she passed. I oiled up the seal and replaced the rear sight. I was very disappointed to discover how inaccurate it is.One of our favorite things to do was have BB-gun fights. We'd put on a denim jacket or winter coat and gloves, strap on an old '70s era motorcycle or snowmobile helmet with the old "bubble" face shield, and go at it. I somehow got hit just a hair away from the corner of my eye near my nose one time and we pretty much decided to give up shooting at each other with our air rifles.Another crazy thing we did was to put a dab of gasket cement, caulk, or something similar around the muzzle of our BB-guns, then stick a rimfire or centerfire PB round to it and shoot to set off the cartridge. The case would rupture, of course, but we'd still hear the projectile going through the trees in some unpredictable direction. It's scary to remember some of things you did (and somehow survived doing) as a young kid or teenager. I shudder at the thoughts...Tight groups,Bob
Yep when I was a kid, before we moved to the country we lived in town. Not a city, but not a village either... you could walk over to your buddies house a couple blocks away carrying you pellet gun and nobody would give it a second thought.

Then his parents would be charged with child neglect and abuse. We used to do the same thing and even did so with our shotguns on our way to the duck blind we made at the point of a flyway for some real good duck hunting. Mike

I guess it depends on what you call a town, and where that town is. Oxford is definitely a city, in my book. New Market, AL is a town. And I recently saw a couple of boys, probably 12-13 years old, carrying airguns on one of the major streets in town. It didn't seem out of place, and I was happy to see that it is still acceptable and normal in New Market.
The days of a rifle in the back window of your truck are long gone here....
Right on, Mike. Allow me to add that, while open carry has always been legal in Alabama, some sheriffs and police departments didn't like it and would harass citizens who did so; even arresting them for "disturbing the peace" or some such. So a few years ago Alabama passed a new law to strengthen open carry provisions, and specifically forbid police from harassing citizens for merely open carrying.

I am glad to see that at least our legislators do listen and support the right of citizens to take part in their own role in the protection of our liberty's and families from those who seek to prey on the innocent that are unable to protect themselves and their families.I believe it is a GOD given right to use whatever force is necessary to protect those we love. Government has no right or power to tells us how or what we use for the purpose of our self preservation PERIOD. I for one will not comply with any law or person that seeks to disarm me or my family.
