Today I spent a lot of time at the computer, my eyes were sore and as usual I became restless. Many times I'll get up and walk a few circles around the shop and get back to work but today I decided I'd worked enough. I grabbed my EVOL 30 prototype and some polymags then proceeded on a back yard hunt.
A back yard hunt for me could be a shot from the shop door, a quick walk to the south 40, or in today's case, an exit through my side gate into the National Forest. The sun had already dropped behind the hills to the west so I knew it would be a short hunt.
It only took about one minute until I saw a small bunny run into a clearing about 50 yards away. I raised my gun to take the shot when two more juveniles ran into the clearing to join the cottontail I had in my sights. I now had three targets so I picked the one that presented the best shot.
I picked the bunny on the far right, he was facing away and slightly to the left. A head shot didn't present itself so I went for the vitals. A near perfect shot with a Polymag entered just above the shoulder and out the chest front on the opposite side. The 80 fpe slammed him hard, the thwack was huge but I was surprised by how little damage there was.
I can't say how pleased I'm with the performance of the gun/scope combination. The Hawke 5-30 Frontier has the best brightness and clarity of any Hawke scope I've used to date. Shooting at twilight the sight picture was much brighter and crisper than my unaided eye. This scope is so versatile; 5X is perfect for hunting and much more magnification is for the occasional target shoot.

nice looking AG. Nice shot! only vital shot I was willing to take was a GS at 30 yards and was pleased to see a pass through and drop like a rock.
once again good shooting.

Great post Tom! The gun really is a great hunter, I envy you being 30 seconds from hunting grounds.😎
