Crosman Optimus; Son of Quest & accuracy?

I bought my youngest son (also the biggest @ 6' 2", 267) A Crosman Optimus .22 for his birthday last April. I also traded the Centerpoint 4x32 and cheap rings for the 3-9x32 scope off my Winchester 1400cs I never used with an extra Hammers 4-bolt mount. Well, last Sunday We set up in the foyer, shooting out the patio door at a target I printed @ about 15 yards. Once he learned to shoot as I was trying to teach him, he started placing his shots with the 14.3gr Gamo Rockets quite accurately before the cops showed up. Darn yuppies and their thoughtless laws. I also acted as spotter with FIL's old Bushnell 7x32's my wife got that are like new.
Anyway, I heard the Optimus was bred from an earlier model called the Quest? Pics I saw were sort of similar? This being true (?), how accurate were/are your Quests and/or Optimus rifles? They come in .177 & .22 calibers. They also have about the same power range as my Hatsan Striker 1000x .22, but are about 1.5lbs lighter. No suppressor, so the Optimus is louder too. Here's my son with the rifle as I gifted it to him. And his first target from last Sunday;
Double hits are circled in orange;

My .22 Optimus is very accurate. It likes JSB heavies in 18.13 gr.

Next moth retiree payday, I'm hoping, among other things, to get the H&N hornets in .177, .22, & .25 calibers. Then more testing on the chronograph. Wanna use .22's and the Trail .25 for feral pigs of varying sizes south of me. They are .177-9.6gr, .22-16.02gr, & .25-23.16gr. Not cheap but are said to give great penetration!?

I have a Quest 1000X (.177) and could not shoot tight groups with it.
I did not have a good selection of .177 pellets at that time, I did not take the time to figure out how it liked to be held, and so it got the worst scope I own... maybe I was expecting too much.
I gave it to the S.I.L. to try and get him into AirGuns but I don't think he has shot since. He likes guns that go "BOOM!"
From What I've seen it sure looks like the Optimus.

I had a .22 Optimus , ( still have it), and after a good quick tune it was a real good rifle. I converted it to a gas piston and it is even more of a hammer now. Mine would group well and liked almost all the Crosman pellets that I shot in it. As far as if it is better or worse than any other spring gun made by Crosman, they are pretty much all the same gun with a different presentation package ,( stock sights, muzzle bling), and all perform about equally. A different stock might like a different hold, or one may shoot a little different due to assembly variations but they all shoot about the same and are all the same platform. After I converted mine to a gas ram it had a decidedly smoother shot cycle, though it was a tad harder to cock.

What bugs me most at this point is it's lack of a suppressor. It cracks loud like a .22lr. But it likes Gamo rocket 14.3gr pellets. See target above. My 160 Pellgun, however, likes 14.5gr RWS superpoint extras.

Detonation?
Saying that because mine is typical springer airgun noise.

Residual oil in it. Common till it is "dried" out from firing. Or the pellets are too light, going super sonic.

I had already cleaned all the old motor oil, " rust preventive" out of the barrel a couple months ago. We put some 18 rounds or so through it. Sound never decreased and no smoking from dieseling. No detonation either. But also, no noise suppressor on the Optimus series. Just the front sight that wraps around the end of the barrel.
