Title: Beeman Sportsman 1000 .177
Post by: kenoman742 on January 20, 2019, 02:22:47 PM
Anyone know where I can get trigger parts or a trigger group for the Beeman Sportsman 1000 in .177 caliber?

I've been looking for months now for a replacement. I have two Beeman/Marksman 0035's that have the same trigger. They are absolutely horrible, terrible triggers. That model gun goes by many names, notably Norica Krono.

There is a better trigger out there from overseas, but no one who has them will sell them to we in the US. I emailed these guys and got that response.

The Beeman RS2 and Kodiak II also had this better trigger.

If you find one let me know. I'll take two of them.

If you really want that original trigger, TW has them - part #TRG004.

Here's a blog explaining (somewhat) the differences between what he calls The trigger (the better one) and That trigger (the one that I have and I suspect you as well).

The 1000 series are based on the Norica Marvic and have the adjustable trigger. The Beeman 0035 has a direct sear trigger. I've ever heard of anyone installing a Marvic or 1000 trigger into a 0035. I seriously doubt it can be done as these are distinctly different guns. It would be cheaper just to buy a complete gun. The 0035 is what it is, an I expensive entry-level adult air rifle

Well, although that may be true, I'd be willing to try it if I could get a trigger for around 50 bucks. I got these two 0035's as a two-fer for $100. It was one of those bids where you wish someone would outbid you, but of course I end up being the only bidder. Obviously there was a reason for that, and now I have two $50 door stops.  :-\

Just a little history on my Sportsman 1000. This was my first air rifle. It was given to me by my next door neighbor so we could go out in the desert shooting together. Well I was hooked but the rifle started acting up and not holding it's cocked position. I disassembled it, cleaned it, lubed it, replaced the piston seal, and did some grinding on the trigger sear. I got overly aggressive with the grinding. The trigger now holds the cocking position but has a very tough pull. Worse than the standard trigger for the gun which isn't very good to start with. The barrel on the gun also sprang up several times from not holding the cocking position from me being new to the sport and not holding the barrel while loading. One time it even hit me in the head and put a good bump on my forehead and scratched my glasses. But the worst effect of this was that now the gun shoots very high. I think either the barrel or the breech is probably damaged. I was able to shim my scope and get it sighted in but it was a pretty severe shim job. I know I can get all the parts to repair the gun on line but it would cost much more to repair it than the gun is worth. I have already purchased a new Benjamin Trail NP2 and I would probably rather invest the money in a new gun or guns. I will probably use the Sportsman 1000 for a door stop or disassemble it and trash it.

You have definitely bent the barrel upward. Classic thing to have happen in those circumstances. Don't know if parts are interchangeable beyond the trigger, but I'd offer to sell you one of my 0035's if they are. Use it as a parts gun.

You can bend the barrel back down. Do some searches on it. As to the sear, that's a tough call. At least it is holding. I wouldn't mess with it since it could fail to hold should too much be taken off. Best to buy a new gun.

On spring guns it is best to control the barrel or cocking arm (if under or side lever) at all times.

I have a trigger group for a RS2 dual cal. laying here on my desk.Took awhile to find it. Bought the gun at a pawn shop for some Frankeinstien gun project. A subject for another time. Trigger looks just like the one pictured above. PM me an address and you can have it.

The bent barrel is easy stuff. Bend it back. Find a handy tree fork. My neighbor has one right next to the fence. If it's bent at the barrel block, bend it at the barrel block. If the barrel is bent elsewhere look down the bore and you'll see it. Bend it there. If you bend it to far, bend it back. You ain't gonna' break it, it's bent anyway.

None of this works, throw in the old parts bin and buy a Crosman Optimus for $99 bucks, put a $33 GRT trigger in it and you'll have a cheap tac driver. Well, maybe you should leave triggers alone. Just kidding. Later, Tim.

Ken - I would definitely give that a try, and Tim, that is a very nice gesture indeed!!. Very exemplary of what the GTA is all about!

Thanks for the advice. I did learn that the hard way. You can bet I am controlling it on my new gun.  :-[

Dennis, what have you been using for piston seals in the 0035?
Mine needs a new one and the only OEM seals I've seen online were in Australia. ARH seems unusually difficult unless you have a Diana or HW. I'm considering a 26mm leather replacement kit from Vortek, but they don't tell you which seal fits their kit the next time around.

My trigger looks exactly like the 3rd picture down on this blog from the link listed in post #3 above. It is a direct sear trigger.

Okay, I don't need the trigger. Might take a day or two to get to the P.O. Later.
